Chapter 203: Chapter 203

"Killian, if you’re planning to take me out in the woods to kill me, I would prefer if you do it inside the house. The weather will make me freeze to death before you can kill me. Can you please slow down?" Amelia requested as she wasn’t quick enough to move around like he was.

She wasn’t used to this cold air like he was and with each step she took it felt like her foot would freeze each time she lifted it.

"Your kingdom gets snow," Killian reminded her. There was no reason for her to be this bad at walking around in the snow.

"Once a year and it is not as bad as it is on this mountain. I will need to wear two coats when winter comes. There is already so much snow right here," Amelia said, looking around at the white clouds on the ground. "Help me," she held out her hand to him.

Killian didn’t move and continued to watch her try pulling her feet out of the snow after she stepped into a hole the snow was covering. "You can do it," he cheered her on.

Amelia glared at him for leaving her to struggle. She gathered a handful of snow, balled it up just as she would do when she was a child and threw it at Killian. It wasn’t satisfying to see him move his head to avoid being hit by it.

"You have a love for throwing things, don’t you? First your shoe and now the snow. Why didn’t Edith warn you that this part of the mountain has snow? Your shoes aren’t fitting for walking in snow or maybe they are?" Killian considered since he didn’t know much about women’s shoes. Perhaps they enjoy wearing shoes with a heel in the snow.

"I didn’t think we would be going around exploring. I thought we would stay inside, sit by a fire, and talk or something. Little did I know you were planning to torture me by walking around snowy woods. My coat isn’t keeping me warm enough. Look," she showed her trembling hands.

"You could have asked for us to go back," Killian said, finally coming to her side to help her.

"I told you that I will do whatever you want. I just need you to slow down and help me when I get stuck. Thank you," Amelia said after he helped pull her out of the hole she fell in. "First the mud now this but I can get used to this."

Amelia looked at Killian or to be specific, his lack of clothing in the cold weather. "I know you can keep yourself warm without clothes but I can’t help but feel like you will catch a cold. Gina once knitted this for me-"

"Keep it," Killian touched her hand to stop her from offering him protection from the cold which he did not need. "You are shivering," he touched her lips with his thumb. "I didn’t think through how cold this would be for you. We are near the coldest part of the mountain. I wanted to show you something first. Come," his wings appeared.

"Won’t we risk being seen by someone if you fly around?" Amelia asked since they were trying not to alert anyone where they were. Alastor was the only other person who knew they were out of the castle. If someone like Agramon were to know where they were, there would be no time for them to have to themselves.

"I will fly low enough for the trees to block us and we are near where I want to take you. Unless you won’t mind me walking you the rest of the way with you in my arms."

"I think it’s best you carry me in your arms. I am sorry if I am heavy- Wait!" Amelia exclaimed when her feet were suddenly lifted off the ground. She clamped her hand over her mouth in case someone might have heard how loud she was.

"Do you look at me and see a weak man? There isn’t anyone near us, Amelia. I would sense if there was. It is just me, you, and all the animals for right now. The cold doesn’t bother me but unless a demon is really antisocial, it will gravitate toward the warmer spots on the mountain. That’s why there are so many homes near the castle. They can feel the warmth of the gate which heats up the castle," Killian explained.

"You know, I thought a gate to the underworld would make the castle hotter. Like start to cook me alive hot," Amelia stated as when the priest spoke of the underworld, the fire was said to be hot enough to set you on fire the moment you arrived.

"There is an ancient spell around the gates of the underworld to keep all of the heat from spilling out into this world. If that spell were to be broken, I would have to fly you away from the north quickly."

Something came to mind now that she knew this. "And yet you planned to take me into the underworld."

"I would get the devil to help you be burned alive or you can become a demon if you wish. I have no plans of making you immune to fire yet as you are not comfortable with changing what you are. Not all demons are as bad as your temples make us out to be. It is your kind who start most of the wars and killed innocent people. Some demons blended in and joined the madness but never forget there are monsters on both sides," said Killian.

"Trust me, I am very much aware of that. Can I tell you something without you wanting to kill anyone?" Amelia asked as she only now remembered something which happened yesterday.

"Depending on what you say, I will try not to kill anyone," Killian replied, intrigued by what she had to tell him. It couldn’t be that anyone had hurt her here in the north. He made sure daily that she was safe.

"At our wedding, Cedric was giving me a drink. I have a gut feeling that there was something in it to either harm me or stop me from having a child so early in our marriage. Hey," Amelia poked Killian’s cheek. "You already look like you want to murder someone."

Killian smiled even though there were no happy thoughts in his mind. "I am not."

"Your smile is scarier than if you were to flip out and get angry. I didn’t take the drink. I don’t accept gifts or food from people I do not trust. I hardly ate the food served to us last night. I am fine," she touched his jaw to calm him.

"I am going to start picking off your enemies in the Blackwell castle one by one. First, we shall have some fun before they take their last breaths. I will use their fears and greed to lead them to their deaths. Some of them will kill each other while others take their own lives. As if the people in that castle have gone mad. Made paranoid by something each way they turn," Killian revealed his plan instead of leaving her out in the dark to hear about it later.

"I would love to watch them lose their minds and turn on each other. I should tell my grandmother to leave," Amelia said, not wanting Margaret to be harmed.

"You underestimate how skilled your grandmother is to stay alive in the midst of the chaos. Margaret Blackwell is no frail old woman. She might even be plotting to kill someone as we speak. She always looks like she is ready to kill someone. The only times I see her act innocent is when you are near. You do not need to worry about her," Killian said, as everyone in the castle could aim their swords at each other and Margaret would be found as the last one standing.
