The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 182

Chapter 182: Chapter 182

Amelia stepped down from the altar with Killian and went straight to where her grandmother sat. She was the first person Amelia wished to hear congratulations from along with Gina and Edith.

Unfortunately, she was stopped first by Fraser who hugged her.

"Congratulations cousin," Fraser said as he hugged her. He didn’t mean it and was only putting on a show for everyone present.

He got the Blackwell throne though he was not a prince but he did not want Amelia to have the throne in the north. He would have preferred if she became a wife of a nobleman and stayed out of the castle altogether like what happened to his mother. Luckily, he was still higher than her in status as a king and queen were not on the same level.

"Thank you," Amelia replied, also putting on a show for the eyes on them. She already knew Fraser wasn’t happy for her but there was no reason to ignore him now. "Now it is your turn to get married."

"That is right," Fraser stepped out of the hug. "I hope you can make it when the time comes. It won’t be at the border but in your old home."

"I hope you can too," Amelia smiled, walking past a confused Fraser to go to her grandfather.

Unlike Fraser, Killian understood Amelia’s words that Fraser might not live to see his own wedding.

"King Killian, I would like to have a word with you about the truce while the women chat," Fraser said.

Amelia stopped, turning around to look at Fraser. "All talk about the truce will be done while I am around," she said.

Fraser gave Amelia an apologetic look. "I’m sorry, cousin, but the men must discuss it alone. You should focus on your dress and greeting the guest. I don’t want to bother you."

"Don’t," Amelia stopped Killian from answering for her. She needed to be the one to drill it into Fraser’s head so that he knew she was not being dismissed as easily as she was as a princess. "Fraser whether you like it or not, I will be present for all conversations concerning the truce. It is not up for debate. Instead of trying to steal my husband away already, I suggest you fix your shirt and mingle with the guest too. Come along, Killian. I want the two of us to have a chat with my grandmother."

Instead of walking ahead without Killian, Amelia went back to his side to hold his hand and walk with him to where Margaret was seated.

"Would it be a good wedding gift if I killed him for you? I can drag him out back when no one is watching," Killian said in a joking tone but was quite serious. He was tired of Fraser’s boldness in dismissing Amelia in front of him.

"I wish I didn’t have to stop you but I don’t want anyone dying on my wedding day. We are meant to be happy today," Amelia replied.

"You don’t seem to be happy."

"It is not you," Amelia clarified before he could conclude that she was not ready to marry him. "I would be happier if a lot of the people present were not here. Most of them do not care for me and likewise. You’re supposed to be surrounded by nothing but people who care for you at weddings. I am tempted to throw them into the underworld."

"Why the underworld when we can personally toss them in the dungeon at home and torture them ourselves?" Killian suggested.

"Do not indulge my thoughts Killian," Amelia playfully smacked his arm. "I just might have you do it. Like, kidnap them while they leave the border so no one knows it is us. That suits a fun activity for our wedding instead of dancing around. We are not like other couples after all. Grandmother," Amelia smiled as they reached Margaret.

"Congratulations to both of you. You must take care of each other and act as one. She might be your wife now but she is still my granddaughter and my little baby. I can make my way up to the north if you make her cry. Treat her well," said Margaret.

Killian didn’t need to be told this by Margaret and he never once doubted how quickly she could make it up the north. Unlike Richard, Margaret posed to be more of a threat to demons since she had the blood and secrets of the real priest who used to hunt demons. She might be sweet and loving to Amelia but Killian knew Margaret wouldn’t hesitate to kill anyone else in a heartbeat.

If anything, Fraser should be concerned about the old woman rather than being so ready to point his sword at the north. As far as Killian knew, Fraser and Margaret weren’t related by blood which would make it easy for Margaret to kill Fraser.

Margaret didn’t survive in the Blackwell castle by keeping her hands clean. Killian hoped that with how much Amelia loved her grandmother there was nothing the old woman had secretly done to hurt Amelia. There would be no greater betrayal than Margaret turning out to be one of Amelia’s enemies. Time would tell especially with the book her mother wrote.

"You don’t have to worry about that grandmother. Killian has been treating me well and protecting me in the north. I meant to write to you that I found more guards and people of my own. Like Edith," Amelia pointed to the woman standing behind her grandmother. She told Gina and Edith to stay close to Margaret.

"That is good but if you ever feel wary of them and need someone from back home to be by your side, send a letter to me and I will have one of my guards come to aid you," Margaret replied.

It was a good offer considering the skilled men Amelia saw around her grandmother and the fact that her grandmother said her side of the family knew how to fight off demons but Amelia didn’t want the castle to have any more humans just yet and bringing a priest there wouldn’t end well.

"I am alright with the guards that I have now but if I ever need your help I will send a message to you. If only you could stay by the border a little bit more. Is everything alright between you and Fraser? You are meant to be guiding him and I know that Fraser isn’t pleased with this or the Adams. I worry about him attacking you," Amelia said.

Margaret chuckled, amused by Amelia thinking Fraser was a threat to her. "Do not worry about it, child. I know how to deal with Fraser who is no different from your father. And I am prepared for whatever his grandfather would try to do. Do not speak of it any longer. His mother is coming."

Amelia didn’t turn around to look at Beth as it would be suspicious in Beth’s eyes like they were plotting something and became silent because of her presence.

"Amelia," Beth placed her hand on Amelia’s lower back. "Congratulations on your new journey as wife and queen. I know you will do well with both. I bought you a few gifts you may open when the day is over and you have rested. Your mother must be so proud of you today. I am sure she is here with us now. If only your father were alive to walk you down the aisle."

"It was apparent that I did not have a good relationship with my father. If he were alive, I wouldn’t want him by my side. I wouldn’t have minded you in his place, aunt Beth. You are a princess and my aunt. I should have suggested that instead of walking alone," Amelia said, slightly regretting not walking with Beth. It would have been a good moment for the two princesses.

"I would have liked that," Beth smiled.

There were times when Beth envied, was jealous of, or even hated Amelia because Amelia stood up for herself and achieved what she wanted while she remained quiet but she would always end up having a special place in her heart for her niece. It was good to see that at least one of them accomplished more than what the castle had planned for them.

It was why she became annoyed with Fraser when he would discredit Amelia because he forgot that she was once in Amelia’s place. Told what to do and what not to do by men and then forced to marry a man she had no feelings for. She sympathized with Amelia but contrary to what everyone from the Blackwell kingdom thought she noticed that Amelia and Killian seemed to have feelings for each other.

Beth hoped their arranged marriage could blossom into true love. There was nothing worse than being stuck in a loveless marriage and forcing yourself to love your partner.
