The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 177
Chapter 177: Chapter 177
While Gina and Margaret walked ahead discussing how they would doll up Amelia, Amelia and Edith walked behind them both not interested in this part of the wedding.
Amelia looked at the woman beside her and noticed Edith seemed to be in deep thought. "What is on your mind, Edith?" She asked.
"Your kind. You are odd," Edith replied.
Amelia chuckled as it was funny and at the same time she enjoyed that it wasn’t just her having to adjust to the other side. It was good to hear that demons had to adjust to being around humans and found things about her life to be odd.
"You have no idea how much better that makes me feel about getting used to the north. We are odd," Amelia admitted since it was true. "Not wings and the underworld odd but we have our moments. I will admit that I am not fond of some of the traditions we have."
"This is your day. Why not say no to the tradition and do the wedding your way?" Edith asked.
"Well, I was never a fan of marriage so there isn’t a way I would love to do it. If I had it my way it would just be me, Killian, my grandmother, and a priest. Is there even a priest today?" Amelia muttered as she couldn’t imagine a priest wedding her to a demon. "This entire day is odd. Today, I am trying to hold in my rebellious side and not get in trouble for once."
Edith was around Amelia for a day now and she had not seen a rebellious side. Amelia was always classy and acted just as Eidth imagined royalty would act. "I have not witnessed you be rebellious, princess."
"I have been trying to leave that side behind in the Blackwell kingdom and I can’t necessarily cause trouble in the north. I can’t protect myself and I do not want to do anything that will have Killian always jumping in to fix my mistakes. This should be our little secret but a year ago I threatened to cut off the penis of a man my father wanted me to marry. I did the old stabbing the knife in a piece of meat trick," Amelia whispered.
She had all kinds of tricks to get rid of her suitors in the past.
"Men do not like when you threaten their instrument. Unfortunately, I cannot try this trick with your king because Killian would hand me the knife for me to cut it off. The really odd person here is him," Amelia added.
"That explains why you have taken a liking to him. He is different from the type of men that you might have encountered. The king is different from what I imagined but I assume it is only how he acts around you. I noticed the way his smile disappears when you leave his side. Is that love?" Edith asked, genuinely wanting to know if she witnessed the rare emotion.
Amelia thought about it for a moment then replied, "I do not know. I have not witnessed much of it to know what it looks like but given the life I shall have after a couple of hours I will find out. I will answer your question when I am certain what love is like."
"Thank you," Edith bowed her head.
It was a breath of fresh air to be around someone who didn’t laugh at her curiosity about other emotions. As someone used to being angry because of her love for fighting, she didn’t get to experience softer emotions which she grew curious about over the years. Love in particular because she heard it was stronger than the others.
"I think her hair will look better pinned up," they heard Gina inside the tent meant for Amelia to get dressed in.
"Edith, if you get bored with what is about to happen just do the two of us a favor and kill me," Amelia muttered before she entered the tent which should truly be considered the underworld. She had to deal with two crazy women hellbent on dressing her up.
"I do not want the king to kill me so I will deny your request," Edith quickly denied the request. She would have to be a fool to hurt the woman Killian picked to wed. It didn’t matter if Amelia was joking, she would not laugh at such jokes.
Edith looked behind them at Cyrus who had been silently following the princess around. With him outside, she could join the women on the inside to keep watch of the princess.
"Alright," Amelia spread her hands out, giving up for the two women to do as they wanted. "Do what you need to get me ready for this wedding."
"Certainly," Gina answered, pulling Amelia down to the chair in the middle of the tent. "Which do you think is better, Amelia? Hair up or down so everyone can admire the length?"
"Whatever will finish fast," Amelia mumbled.
"This will not be a rushed job," Gina said to Amelia’s dismay. "I will start on your hair while we await the arrival of your dress."
"You should have more maids to help you get dressed," Margaret said since the workload would be too much for Gina.
"I should but Gina is the only person I trust to put her hands in my hair and helping me get dressed. Now I have Edith but she is more of a guard than a maid. I have picked another maid but had her remain in the castle. Do you-"
"You cannot go in," Cyrus’s voice on the outside interrupted Amelia.
"Step aside north dog. You are speaking to a king," Fraser angrily replied.
"Oh great," Amelia sighed as the party pooper was her. Though she wanted Fraser to be here it didn’t mean she wanted him here so quickly. "Let him inside, Cyrus. I am not getting undressed yet. Let’s get this over with so I can enjoy the rest of the day," she spoke loud enough for Fraser and Cyrus to hear.
"You should teach your guard better manners," Fraser advised Amelia when he entered the tent.
"And you should stop calling him a northern dog before you lose your tongue," Amelia replied.
