The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 176

Chapter 176: Chapter 176

"If I was against this marriage, we both know that I would not have shown up today," Amelia chuckled but they both knew it was not a joke. "Thankfully, I have started to like Killian so it shall work out for me and the people of this kingdom. Where is everyone else? Fraser, aunt Beth, and all the relatives? I only see a few carriages."

"Oh, those carriages are mine with the gifts I have brought for you and Killian. I hope you both enjoy them. Amelia," Margaret touched her granddaughter’s hand. "Many of your relatives sent letters to the castle claiming to be sick, traveling or some have admitted to being too scared to come to the border. I don’t know how many will show and I have not forced them to come."

"I see. Well, for something that benefits the kingdom, you should not have to go out of your way to force them to come. What about the court and Fraser?" Amelia asked. It was different if Fraser would not show up. It would be a slap in Killian’s face and at this point, she would not stop him from retaliating.

"Fraser has been looking for a chance to not come but I heard his mother has talked some sense into him. Has the spy Killian left behind not told you?" Margaret flicked Amelia’s nose to let her know nothing got past her in the castle.

Amelia was surprised to learn that Margaret knew there was a demon in the castle but then she remembered what she was told about the priest, and she realized it wouldn’t be hard for Margaret to know when a demon was around. "Nothing gets past you grandmother. I don’t mind if none of the relatives show but I hope Fraser does arrive as it would be a bad look for the future Blackwell king to not be present," she said.

"Fraser didn’t want to attend the wedding but he was reminded that the official truce will be made. I’m sure he won’t miss the chance to offer ridiculous ideas for the truce. He is more of a fool than a king. I fear he is following in your father’s footsteps. Only my true grandchild is making me proud."

’True grandchild?’ Amelia thought. It had been many years since she heard her grandmother say this. Though there were no blood ties between Fraser and Margaret, he was always referred to as a grandchild. ’What happened between them?’

"Grandmother is everything alright between you and Fraser-"

"Princess!" Gina panted, hunching over to gasp for air when she finally reached Amelia. ’How am I so out of shape?’ She wondered. Gina was ticked off when she looked to her side and saw Edith stand beside her perfectly fine.

"We need to start getting you dressed for the wedding. We must do your hair, continue to soften your skin, add color to your lips, and-"

"I get it. I get it," Amelia stopped Gina before the list could carry on. "Why can’t I just put on a wedding dress and get married?"

"I wouldn’t allow that to happen. This is a day you will look back on and cherish. Even though I was not fond of the man I was marrying, I enjoyed being the most beautiful woman in the kingdom that day. When you have a daughter, you will see why getting dressed up is a fun yet emotional thing. I cannot continue to view you as a little girl since you are about to start your own family," Margaret said on the verge of tears.

"Would you like for me to have a little girl who can spoil again-"

"Yes please!" Margaret exclaimed, not waiting for Amelia to finish. "I shall give the child all that I have before I leave this world."

"Grandmother, not this again. I will truly consider taking you up the mountain with me if you continue to speak of death. It is meant to be a happy day. Do not speak of dying," said Amelia.

Margaret tapped her mouth for ruining the moment with her careless words. "I didn’t mean to bring that up. Please forgive me, child. We should move quickly to get you ready for your big day. Why does it look like you have not washed your hair yet?"

"Grandmother, I have to say that it bothers my soul how all of you are preparing me for Killian like I am a piece of meat. The soft skin, the washed hair, the painful removal of hair," Amelia glared at Gina. "I dislike all of it, especially when Killian has nothing to do to prepare for me. Besides, why must I do something special for a man that I already share a bed with-" Amelia paused as it dawned on her the moment it left her mouth what should not be said.

Margaret narrowed her eyes as there was no reason why her granddaughter should already be sharing a bed with Killian.

Amelia slowly backed away from her grandmother and turned to Gina. "It is time for me to get prepared as you said-"

"Amelia Blackwell," Margaret said in a stern tone to stop Amelia from walking away from her. "What do you mean by sharing a bed? You were not supposed to until you got married. Has he bedded you already?" She whispered so the people who were not demons could not hear her. They were the ones who would judge Amelia.

’What is the problem?’ Edith thought, genuinely confused by the reaction. ’Is this the virgin thing humans do? How boring.’

"No, we only sleep in the same bed so he can keep an eye on me at night. We have done nothing I swear," Amelia promised.

"Oh, sweetheart I am just pulling your leg. You should see your face. Your wedding was only a few days later so what is the difference if you test it out early? As you said, there is no need for all the preparations but we must still make you the prettiest girl in the two kingdoms," Margaret chuckled as she stood from her seat. She patted Amelia’s back as she walked by. "Relax there."

"Ha, it was just a joke," Amelia placed her hand on her aching chest. "Grandmother, you cannot play another like that or my heart will fail."
