The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 163
Chapter 163: Chapter 163
"The bright side of living in the castle is the food. We’d have to save up for a year to enjoy food like this daily. I was fed rubbish for months in that land," Jahi said, enjoying the taste of the meal Cyrus brought for the both of them.
"You can have mine if you want," Cyrus pushed his plate towards her. "I will walk you over to your room when you are done."
Jahi looked up from the food, confused by why she would leave. "There’s no need for that. I plan to spend the night here too."
"They gave separate rooms for a reason-"
"Cyrus, why does it feel like you are chasing me away? It is not the first time we have slept in the same bed. Here or in the underworld. I don’t see why you’re getting so worked up. Is it," Jahi paused as something came to mind. "Is it because of the princess? Does she have a problem with it?"
"Us sleeping together isn’t on Amelia’s mind. I want us to sleep in separate rooms because we are a man and a woman. I don’t need others to get the wrong idea about us. I allowed it at first because of what you went through but now it is time for space between us. It is uncomfortable for me," said Cyrus.
Jahi found that it was odd for him to be uncomfortable now. This was nothing new between them even when he had feelings for her and she denied them. The only difference this time was the woman he guarded. "When are you going to stop denying that there is a change in our relationship because of the princess? Yes, I was trying to be nice to her for you but moments like this irritate me."
Cyrus sighed, feeling like a fool for thinking Jahi had gotten over thinking there was something between him and Amelia. "This has nothing to do with Amelia. It is just me that feels uncomfortable sleeping in the same bed as you. I am moving past the feelings I once held for you-"
"Don’t let them go. I want to be with you now. Things are different now. I realized how much I have always loved you," Jahi confessed.
However, Cyrus saw through her lies. Jahi felt threatened when she didn’t need to be. "You do not love me, Jahi. I have long accepted that you never will. Years ago I might have fallen for your trick but not anymore. Tomorrow morning, Amelia wants to speak with us. I am giving you the heads that she will send you out of the castle."
Jahi gripped her fork out of anger and frustration. "Then we should just avoid speaking with her and leave the castle before then."
"Jahi, I am not leaving with you. I am going to protect Amelia. I will make sure to find a space for you to start building your farm again and have it close by so I can visit you-"
"I am not leaving without you," Jahi interrupted Cyrus, placing her fork down as she could no longer focus on eating after he disrupted the peace they found themselves in.
No one could convince her that Cyrus did not feel something for Amelia. Jahi saw Cyrus treating Amelia the way he would once treated her. She felt replaced and it cut deeper than it was a Blackwell royal. Amelia already had Killian’s heart so why was she taking Cyrus’s too?
"You do have a choice. I am not going with you and you cannot stay if Amelia wants you gone. Killian will use the worst methods to get rid of you. You have been pretending to be nice around her and deep down I knew it too but I was blinded by the two of you getting along. I won’t let you end your life trying to get rid of her. I hope you can one day see she is what the two lands need," said Cyrus.
"Her people enslaved me, used me to their liking but yet, you choose her over me? Yes, I forced myself to be kind to her so I could remain close to you but each time she is near I cannot think of her guards dragging me from my home. You have no idea what I felt being mistreated by creatures lower than my kind and I will never forgive any Blackwell," Jahi spoke, her anger increasing with each word.
"The person to blame for our people being forced into slavery is dead. King Richard must be in the middle of his punishment for the things he did when he was alive. Amelia hated her father the same as you do if not more. Your anger is misplaced and you will lose your life if you continue to blame her for what her father did. Jahi," Cyrus reached out to touch her hands. "I do not want to lose you."
If she tried to do anything to Amelia, Killian would get involved and Crysu would not be able to save her. The best solution for everyone to keep their friendships and for Jahi to not end up dead was for her to leave. Only when she realized her anger was meant for Richard Blackwell would she be able to come around Amelia again.
Jahi bit her lip, fighting back the emotions she felt. Cyrus didn’t understand her because he ended up in the castle while she was locked away in dark rooms. Life in the underworld was already not easy but then she had to be subjected to slavery by creatures her kind would normally control.
"I won’t give her the satisfaction of sending me out of this castle tomorrow morning. I will leave now and find a way for myself to survive," Jahi made up her mind. She stood up from her seat ready to leave right away. "I hope you can snap out of whatever trance you have fallen in. You’ll see soon why you cannot trust her kind. Then you will come crawling back to me."
