The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 162
Chapter 162: Chapter 162
"That is not as romantic as you think it sounds, Killian. It is like a crazy stalker and I don’t need any more of those. The last one was already hard to get rid of. Now that he is gone, do you mind telling me why you came up to this world?" Amelia asked, unable to hold back her curiosity. "I won’t judge or run away from you."
Killian leaned in his chair to get a better look at her. "Couldn’t wait until we go back to our room?" He asked.
"No," Amelia replied with an innocent smile.
"It is not a story that is entertaining as you would like it to be. I came here because I was interested in learning more about your kind. After years of listening to the sins that trapped them in the underworld, I wanted to see their lives before their punishment. I eventually got stuck as king. The end," he finished.
Amelia wasn’t amused by the conversation as she already heard about his interest in her kind. She expected something more like destruction and chaos. Like he killed a bunch of people or something. "I have secrets that are worse than that," she muttered.
Alastor glanced at Killian who looked at him at the same time. He wondered if this would be the first of many lies Killian would tell his wife.
’He’s not telling the truth,’ Amelia thought. She put on the act of believing Killian’s words but just like everyone else in the castle, he was a demon. She trusted him to some degree but that didn’t mean she believed every word that left his mouth. There were times that she was going to lie to him so she expected that he would do the same to her.
She wasn’t in a rush to learn of Killian’s past when their wedding was only a day away. It was inevitable for the two of them to wed and on her wedding day, she would rather not be thinking about his past. Knowing she was marrying a demon was already scary enough.
Amelia cleared her mind of worries when her plate was placed before her with roasted meat and vegetables. First, they made her wedding dress a bit tight, and now they were feeding her food that would not make it easier for her to fit inside of it.
’Is this a test for me to not eat?’ She cried on the inside.
"Why aren’t you eating? Is it not to your liking?" Killian asked, ready to send it back if it wasn’t.
"I am thinking about how I will fit into my wedding dress with all that I am eating. I might end up having to wear one of the dresses I brought with me. I don’t know if I should be hurt that the dressmaker measured me and still made the dress too. It is an indirect way of telling me to lose weight-"
"Behead the dressmaker," Killian ordered Alastor.
"Wait! Why? I don’t want them to die," Amelia panicked.
"They are insulting their future queen. They are meant to be listening to how you want the dress to be, not making it tight for you to squeeze into it. If you do not want them to lose their head, speak up. Do not make speaking to the dressmaker the time you start biting your tongue," said Killian. The side of her that spoke what was on her mind was what he liked.
"I tried on the dress after I came back from the trip around the kingdom. I was too tired to argue with anyone about it. I will have it altered when I have to try it on again tomorrow. So, can we please not have anyone beheaded before our wedding?" Amelia asked, looking back and forth at the two men.
"So I can behead anyone I want to after our wedding," Killian said, using the loophole in Amelia’s words against her.
To his surprise, Amelia replied, "Yes. Settling down here has its moments but I am enjoying the peace I wouldn’t normally get before. I really want a peaceful road to our wedding, Killian. I always pictured my wedding to be chaotic mostly because I would be against it so I am happy I am somewhat enjoying it right now. No fighting, no deaths, and no beheading. Unless someone is trying to kill me of course."
"I will follow those rules," Killian promised but he had every intention of letting Alastor be the one to break them. The north wouldn’t feel like home if there wasn’t someone dying daily.
’Bullshit,’ Alastor thought. He was updated on how many people Killian killed while he was out with Amelia. Ten was a new record for one day. Killian was clearing out demons looking to feast on Amelia’s soul like how the maids would clean out spiders hiding in corners.
Alastor stared at Amelia once again trying to find what was it about her that made the brute not too far away from him fall for her.
There was no denying that Killian had started to love the princess because of the effort he was going through to clear out the castle for her and then the throne room that Killian was hardly present in was being changed around. All because the princess wanted a throne to sit on.
Killian tapped his fingers on the table as he watched Amelia eat though she found it to be annoying and ignored the burning gaze he felt coming from Alastor. One more day and he would seal the deal on the woman he wanted to continue his bloodline.
A demoness would be better in anyone else’s eyes but he saw and felt something that no one else did when it came to Amelia. She had a certain glow to her which helped her stand out from her kind. Something that reminded him of a person the witches like to call the golden child. A person who could either bring peace to the world or destroy it.
