The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 155
Chapter 155: Chapter 155
Amelia returned to the castle before nightfall and before she could rest her feet, she had been bombarded with questions about her wedding and measured for her wedding dress. She threw Gina into the chaos by having her help with the details of the wedding. When it came to things like this, Gina was more helpful. Amelia was never one to know what to decorate with or what needed to be added to a dress. She was always more curious about politics.
Amelia walked the halls back to the room she shared with Killian with Cyrus right behind her. Alastor had gone off somewhere as soon as they had returned. "I wish to do nothing else but sleep. I don’t know if I can walk to the dining hall to eat dinner," she said.
It took everything in her body to not be graceful and drag her feet to her bedroom.
"You did well today princess. You might not have won over everyone’s hearts but they are intrigued by you. That is a start,’ said Cyrus.
"I don’t know if I want any more demons intrigued by me. I am marrying one who found me to be intriguing and I do not need any more taking interest in me. However, I did enjoy touring the kingdom. It’s too bad we could not reach everywhere today. The north is not like I have read in books. My ancestors should have worked with the north instead of fighting it. Do you think the Blackwells knew about your kind at some point?"
Cyrus didn’t see how they would have known about demons and survived or at least pass down this knowledge to future kings. Richard might have left the north alone had he known about their secrets but if there was a chance he knew and kept attacking, the man had to be delusional in thinking he would win.
"No," Cyrus replied.
"My grandmother told me the history of her family being priests. They would go around killing demons with special water they found. She got married to my grandfather because of the weapons her family used. The temple was meant to defend the castle from your kind. At some point, one of my relatives besides my grandmother must have known. It is odd how many books with information about the north were missing from the royal library," Amelia said, suspicious of the secrets in her old home.
There was nothing she could put past anyone in that castle. If there was anyone who knew about demons or if the kings were hiding that information, Amelia expected to hear of it soon. Fraser could never keep his mouth shut and since he was always afraid of being killed, his actions would prove he was aware of the demon’s existence. She predicted he would have the borders closed and hide away deep in the castle.
"What has been hidden will be revealed soon. I can’t think about that now as there is something I need to do."
By now all of her belongings should have been placed in her room so she could continue reading the stories her mother left for her. She wanted to see if it would solve the mystery behind her mother’s death and bring up any secrets in the castle that she was never aware of.
"You can return to your room now. After breakfast tomorrow, I need to have a word with you and Jahi. It is an important matter we must settle," Amelia said, picking at her fingernails as she worried about Cyrus’ reaction to her wanting Jahi sent out of the castle. She feared he would be upset and follow Jahi out of the castle ending the friendship they had now.
"Do you wish for her to leave?" Cyrus asked as it was the only thing he could think of Amelia wanting to talk about. He thought things were going well but he must have missed something.
"I don’t want to end the day speaking about this now. It is better for her to be present for this conversation. No matter what decision you make tomorrow I will not-"
"I will not leave your side," Cyrus interjected and from her reaction, it surprised her. Her reaction wounded him because he had proven time and time again that he would always be by her side but yet, she doubted him. "You need me now more than ever."
Amelia knew that once Jahi was present this conversation would take a different turn. Jahi’s experience in the Blackwell kingdom could be used to make Cyrus feel guilty for not saving her in time. Amelia was not going to take part in pressuring Cyrus. She would say what was on her mind in regard to Jahi and let it play out.
Amelia forced a smile, not wanting to speak of her doubts to Cyrus. She pushed open the door and entered the bedroom, closing the door behind her without a goodbye to Cyrus. She sighed as she leaned back against the door but her thoughts about Jahi and Cyrus quickly went away once she laid eyes on Killian sitting with a cup of what smelled like rum as he stared at her. She had been waiting all day to strangle him and now the moment had come.
"I was getting bored waiting for you to return. Did you have a good time outside the castle walls? Come tell me about it," Killian said as he patted the free spot beside him.
"Tell me why I should not strangle you right now, Killian?" Amelia in a low tone as she approached him.
"Because it would not kill me and you wouldn’t want to regret your actions tomorrow."
"A little bit more information about that village would have been nice. Like it is on fire or there is a freaking demon who likes to sleep with women there. Was this all a game to you? I don’t care if it won’t kill you. I will take pleasure in strangling you. It shall calm my anger," said Amelia.
Killian spread out his arms and said, "Go on then."
