The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 147

Chapter 147: Chapter 147

Alastor wanted to tell her that was far from the truth but seeing that she liked her little delusional thoughts, he decided to leave her be. He felt like someone was drilling a hole into his head and looked beside the princess at her maid. He stared back at Gina, not even the slightest bit scared by how she was looking at him. He was surprised she made it through the night or even handled being told about demons. She was mentally stronger than he thought.

Alastor looked out the window, not enjoying the stare-down. Now that they were out of the castle grounds Gina would soon be begging him for help instead of glaring at him. They were all kinds of creatures that crawled out of the underworld in Killian’s absence and he was here to send them back before they made it down the mountain.

Killian gave him this task to force him into going with the princess to protect her. This job would be finished quickly if wasn’t with the princess and instead flying around the mountain.

"So Alastor, what do you like?" Amelia asked.

Alastor looked away from the window, surprised by her interest in his hobbies. He didn’t answer her question and just looked at her.

"I can see smoke in the distance which means we are near a village but it is still a little while until we get there. How about we get to know each other? You and I will be around each other in the future. We should at least be cordial so we don’t get on each other’s nerves. It wouldn’t hurt to ask each other some questions," said Amelia.

"Very well. What pushed you to kill your father?" Alastor asked as he had been curious about how someone as weak and innocent looking as her could have the stomach to kill her father.

Gina looked to her side at Amelia in shock. "Amelia," she started but couldn’t finish the sentence.

"I reached a breaking point," Amelia replied with a smile. Of course, Alastor would know what she had done. She couldn’t place if Killian had told him or if he was there that night also watching her. "Being sent off to another kingdom to get married was the last straw. Is that a good enough answer?"

"You were angry about getting married only to end up getting married to Killian," Alastor said, finding it amusing how she was in the same position as she was before her father’s death.

"I accepted Killian’s proposal which had better benefits than wherever the hell my father was sending me off to. I can’t deny that I would have liked it if he had pushed for me to be the Blackwell queen but all in good time I suppose. Queen of the north isn’t a bad title until I get what I always wanted," Amelia replied.

Gina didn’t understand half of what was going on and how Alastor seemed to be privy to more information than she was. What else was Amelia keeping a secret? Still, Gina was glad she didn’t know too much about Amelia killing her father. Not that she would ever spill the news but if anyone suspected Amelia, she would have truly been believable by saying it was not Amelia as she would have never put this on Amelia.

"My turn. How did you and Killian meet? Why are you so loyal to him when he clearly gets on your nerves?" Amelia asked.

"We tried to kill each other, I lost but saw how great of a demon he was to follow so I put up with his antics. Out of all the demons right under the devil, Killian was and still is the most tolerable, and his views on the world match mine. It is only his interest in humans that I do not care for," Alastor honestly replied.

"Why do you think he is so interested in us?"

"It is simple. He has been around demons for hundreds of years and lost interest in them. When he came up to this world he was immediately intrigued by your people. Something along the lines of how fragile your lives are and how you would do anything to make the most of it. He enjoys how unpredictable you can be and enjoys meddling in your lives sometimes," said Alastor.

"So throwing the shoe at him was intriguing but I am still lost as to how that was even to make him decide I want to marry this human or was it my father’s death? If that was his way of falling in love, it is odd," Amelia muttered. No matter if she knew Killian was only marrying her because she would entertain him, it didn’t stop her from questioning what made her different compared to other humans that entertained him.

"Demons are attracted to sin or whatever you want to call it. No matter how you look at it, you stirred something inside that dead heart of his and he wants to figure out what it is judging that he is willing to spend the rest of his life with you, he already knows what it is. You should be proud of yourself for having that brute feel something for you. Now we all know he does have a heart."

"Not exactly something I want to be proud of but sure. Let’s continue. What is the real reason no one was at dinner last night? It is not because Killian set someone on fire, is it?" Amelia replied, still not believing what was told to her last night. She believed it at the moment to feel better about no one being present but now she would like the truth.

"I do not know. I am not always stuck to Killian for future reference. I am here with you right now which is evidence. He goes off on his own to speak with others and I am unaware of the conversation until it is time for me to clean up the mess. Whatever he is hiding from you will soon be exposed. The other side won’t keep their mouths shut for long," said Alastor. It was what made the other demons annoying.

"Okay. Thank you for being honest with me, Alastor. You do not like me yet but I find myself liking you. I hope we can look back at this one day and laugh about how rough it was at first. I hope the same can be said for you and Gina. I don’t know what happened on your trip up here and I do not care since I am sure it will be something stupid but just like me, you will find that Gina is a wonderful person to be around. And Cyrus," Amelia added since she would love for Alastor to be close to Cyrus.

Gina wasn’t here for Amelia pushing the idea that she would be close to Alastor somewhere in the future. She hated the sight of this man now and she was certain she would hate the sight of him later on. Nothing could ever happen to change that. Gina didn’t mind being cordial so each time they were in each other’s presence Amelia would not be annoyed with bickering.

"No thank you," Alastor replied. He had no interest in being anything when it came to the person sitting beside the princess. Amelia was turning out to be quite the character but it didn’t change the fact that this woman Gina was still an annoying pain in the ass human in his eyes.

Alastor opened the door as the carriage came to a halt in the first carriage. He got out first without a word.

"I really feel the need to punch him. I swear if he wasn’t a demon I would just," Gina punched a hand into the other to show what she would do. "Please tell me if there is some special way for demons to turn into regular people. I only need a minute."

"I am left in the dark just like you are," Amelia replied. She started to get out of the carriage but Gina stopped her.

"When were you going to tell me about your father?" Gina asked.

"Never," Amelia honestly replied. "The more people that knew back then would have made things too risky and if I was caught, I didn’t want you wrapped up in my mess. It is not that I did not trust you but I wanted to protect you. Please do not be angry with me. I would have told you later on that we are away from Blackwell land."

"I understand. It was just quite a shock but I understand why you did it. I don’t know why I never had you as a suspect after everything he did. Are you alright? You might have hated him but he was still your father. To end him must have-"

"I am fine," Amelia said, removing the hand Gina grabbed her with. "I would not have done it only to regret it. They are waiting for us so she shouldn’t keep them waiting."

"Right," Gina whispered. Though Amelia said she was alright, Gina couldn’t shake the feeling that she was now.
