The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 143

Chapter 143: Chapter 143

"What do you mean? Do you want me to scold him for threatening someone?" Amelia asked, genuinely wanting to hear Alastor’s opinion.

"Quite frankly, yes. It’s a pain in my ass specifically when he decides to piss off the people here and normally, someone in your position wouldn’t want trouble to be stirred up so soon. It was far more than him warning him not to touch a hair on your head. This fool took it upon himself to set a random person on fire," Alastor glared at Killian who looked at him like he had done nothing wrong.

Amelia looked at Killian, confused as to why he would set a random person on fire. Not even the people he was threatening but a random person. "Why a random person?" She asked.

"Alastor is being dramatic. It was regular fire and as demons, normal fire does nothing to us. See," Killian placed a finger in the fire of a burning candle on the dinner table. "Perfectly fine. I threatened to set them on fire with flames from the underworld. That fire is extremely hot."

"I see but why a random person?" Amelia questioned, still confused by the random person in the mix.

"He was a random person to Alastor but little does Alastor know that was the little birdie Agramon was trailing him with," Killian replied.

Alastor’s eyes widened for a moment. "When were you going to tell me you knew who was trailing me?"

Killian picked up a red shiny apple from a basket of fruits on the table. "I was waiting to see when a powerful demon like yourself would notice. You have no idea how much of a letdown that was. Now that you know, you can do whatever you want with him."

"I see," Amelia accidentally spoke out loud.

"See what?" Killian asked.

"Why he might one day kill you. You would piss me off too if I was in his position," said Amelia.

Alastor quite liked that there was someone who saw things from his perspective when it came to Killian. "Keep this up and I just might like you, Princess Amelia."

Amelia noticed how he changed calling her Blackwell princess. She felt triumphant and over the sadness she felt a moment ago now that she was beginning to win over Alastor. This wasn’t a bad start.

"Thank you," Amelia said to a young maid who was to her right placing various dishes on her plate.

The maid was stunned to be addressed, her cheeks turning red and without a word, she dashed back to the place she was meant to stand.

Amelia couldn’t help but wonder if Killian or anyone else did not acknowledge the presence of their servants and that was why the maid was so surprised. Amelia wasn’t a fan of people who could not take two seconds to speak with the people serving them. How high on a horse did they have to be? She glared at Killian and was caught in the act but she did not care.

Killian reached out to her side to touch her hand. "Is there something you are angry with me about? A moment ago I had cheered you up so what is with the glare?"

"It is nothing. We shall speak about it later. I am starving," Amelia picked up her fork ready to eat but there was now one thing on her mind. "There is nothing odd here right? Like something that came from the underworld?"

"No," Killian shook his head.

"Okay," Amelia replied, happy to know she wasn’t going to have to try anything from the world today. She cut into the roasted chicken with her knife and fork, added a bit of the baked potato then placed it in her mouth. She was pleasantly surprised by how good the food tasted. Whoever had prepared it was far better than the head cook in the Blackwell castle.

"Oh wait, the cook does have a habit of collecting those little birds from the underworld. Looks just like chicken and they are already on fire when you catch them," Killian lied, enjoying the pause from Amelia after she swallowed her food.

Amelia didn’t bother to call Killian a liar and looked at Alastor, telepathically asking him if Killian was telling the truth or not.

Alastor ate the chicken in his mouth, eating without any complaints. He stared at her, testing her common sense. Amelia found her answer.

She continued to cut into the chicken and ate it just as she had done before. "You would not let me eat a bird from the underworld, Killian. Why must you play around like this?’ She asked.

"Because your reactions are amusing, Amelia. The only ones to try eating the birds from the underworld are hellhounds or desperate demons who cannot find souls to feed on. Most of them end up dead as you can imagine birds in the underworld are far from peaceful. Strong demons catch and make them pets."

"Do you have a pet bird?" Amelia asked.

"A phoenix but it prefers to be in the underworld and far away from Loki. Do not get along and I am never in the mood to watch them chase each other. It is in my home in the underworld. I will take you there one day," said Killian.

As much as Amelia would prefer to stay out of the underworld, she could not help being curious about how the world down there functions. What are the houses like? Where does the king reside? Where do the souls to be punished go? It was a dangerous place but quite fascinating.

"Never seen a human to be taken to the underworld. They are normally screaming bloody murder when the Grimms go to collect them and speak of how much of a good person they are. I supposed there is always a first for everything," Alastor spoke up.

Amelia understood why Alastor found her odd but before her engagement to Killian, she was prepared to end up in the underworld for killing her father. At some point in time, her life would come to an end and she would end up there anyway. Why not get a tour of it from Killian?

"Well she is not like other humans, is she?" Killian stated as she was quite different from those pests. He ignored eating his food as it didn’t full him and was only there for show. He was more interested in watching Amelia squirm under his gaze.

"Killian, there are plenty of other things for you to watch in this room besides me. I do not enjoy being watched by anyone while I eat. You have not eaten anything except for that apple-"

"Feed me," Killian requested. "Since you are so concerned about me eating, feed me."

Amelia found him to be delusional and unbelievable if he thought she was going to feed him. "I wasn’t concerned about you eating. I just wanted you to do something other than watch me. There is nothing wrong with your hands that you cannot feed yourself. Stop watching me or else," she warned him before going back to eating.

Her little threat did nothing but tempt him to find out what she would do to him if he did not stop watching her. "Or else what?" He asked.

"Or else I shall consider changing our sleeping arrangement," Amelia spoke, not caring about who could hear her. At the moment, it was the only thing she could threaten him with at the moment. She was feeling bad about him not being able to sleep on his own bed but he was annoying her to the point she would kick him out of his own room.

"Is that so? Then I must behave," Killian looked away from her just as she wanted.

Alastor didn’t find the threat to be amusing or serious. If anything he was angry with how easily Killian started to behave from a threat of not being able to sleep in the same bed with the princess when he had threatened Killian with far more dangerous things in order to get the man to do something but Killian would never listen.

’Women have interesting ways to control men. He is like a dog on a leash,’ Alastor shook his head, pitying the poor fool. This was why his encounters with women were purely for pleasure. The underworld would have to freeze over the day he would become a lovesick fool who got scared from not being able to sleep in the same bed as the woman he adored.

"While you are at it princess, you should use this threat to get him to look over some papers he missed while he was away," Alastor said, deciding to make use of the control she had. Perhaps he should stick by Amelia and have her on a leash so he could indirectly control Killian.

"Not happening. I don’t want to spoil your evening of looking through those papers," Killian stuck his tongue out to tease his annoyed friend.
