The Sweetest Temptation -
Chapter 52: Twisted Game
Chapter 52: Twisted Game
"I-Yes. We met, how can I forget." Beatrix stuttered.
A glint passed through his eyes but it quickly disappeared.
He nodded at her and lifted his hand up for a handshake.
Her face suddenly seemed to turn crimson red. Her hand met his and she felt self-conscious as she realized that her palms were sweaty. The handshake was precise and short and he released her hand almost instantly.
He turned to look at Damien,"Since she is having bad cramps I think we should skip on the dinner. I’m tired too. Maybe you can prepare us something. What do you think, Beatrix?"
Beatrix blinked and forced out a smile, "I think that would be perfect."
Damien pressed a kiss on her cheeks, "Alright. You can rest while I cook dinner. I will call you when I’m done."
Beatrix avoided Rhys’ eyes at all cost. Guilt was eating her alive. She needed a space to clear her head.
"Alright."
*************
The door of Beatrix’s room opened and she was too shocked to even scream and looked at Rhys with her mouth wide open.
"Rhys... What- What are you doing here?" She said as she stood up from her bed.
Rhys closed the door behind and her heart accelerated when he locked the door.
He turned back and started to walk towards her slowly and she stepped back, feeling suffocated and trapped in a room with him.
She held her breath as he reached her. He stood up tall in front of her , towering over everything in the room.
"I wanted to talk to you." His eyes fell on her chest.
"Nice top by the way."
Beatrix looked down to see her nipples hard and pebbled through her white tank top. A blush appeared on her cheeks, spreading to her neck and she coughed in surprise.
"So you don’t remember me huh?" he hummed, reaching to put his hands on her hips as he pulled her to his chest.
"Rhys... what are you doing?" She asked nervously, feeling her heart slam against her chest as he tucked her hair behind her ear.
"Taking a trip down memory lane" he raised and drops his brows as he took hold of her jaw.
"Since you don’t remember me, maybe I should remind you, little mouse."
Rhys shook his head, clicking his tongue as he reached over to brush her hair over her shoulder
"Maybe I should tell my brother about us, what do you think?"
"Even if I say no you’re going to tell him anyway, aren’t you?" She replied.
Rhys’ eyes lit up as he laughed, "You’ve gotten feisty over the last year I can see, I like that - and you’re wrong by the way."
His face dropped to a serious expression as he closed the gap between them, his eyes focusing on hers.
Beatrix felt paralysed.
" I like the chase, little mouse. I wonder how long you can hide that you know me from my brother. How long you can keep this game charade. How long can you resist my charm?" He whispered a smirk on his lips.
Beatrix pulled her face back, staring at him in shock "You can’t be serious".
Rhys lifted his brows, challenging her with them
"But I am, sweetheart. I thought I was going to be babysitting a boring spoiled rich brat but I guess I was wrong. This would be interesting."
Her lips parted as her pulse continued to hammer through her body. He can’t honestly mean that literally can he?
Did he see all of this as some twisted game?
"You-you can’t do that. Damien is your brother! He can’t know that I have kissed his brother before and even fantasized about having kids with him!"
Rhys gripped her chin, making her look at him and pouted his bottom lip out, however his eyes hold that smug look he wore so well,
"Awe you fantasied about me little mouse?"
"Yes-No." Beatrix replied so quickly she flushed with embarrassment.
"No I didn’t. I was just saying but that’s not the most important part of what I said."
Rhys tsked with a click of his tongue, scowling playfully,
"Lying isn’t very nice, and you’re terrible at it"
Beatrix kept trying to ignore the prickling all over her body at how close he was ,the feel of his fingers against her skin, the damn butterflies were back.
Beatrix pulled her face away from his hand, holding on to the last bit of resolve she had,
"Why are you doing this Rhys?" She asked.
He tilted his head, squinting his eyes.
"Nothing."
Beatrix raised her brows at him, clearly he was lying. Was he angry that she had pretended not to him?
"I’m sorry-I shouldn’t have pretended that I didn’t know you but I panicked okay? Not in a million years would I have thought that you were Damien’s brother."
"Do you love him?" He asked suddenly. His face blank of any emotions.
"I-I- don’t know. He is a great guy we are still working on this relationship."
He stared at her for a while before he pulled away from her.
"Alright. See you little mouse." Then he walked away from her leaving her alone in the room with her thoughts.
She felt sick. Maybe she should tell Damien. He would understand right? She met Rhys before she met him and she had no idea.
But what if he didn’t believe her? He couldn’t lose him. Maybe for once she was going to be selfish and carry this secret with her forever.
God, she hated herself for lying to Damien, but she knew the truth was deep down she was still attracted to Rhys.
Living alone with him was going to be hell. He was going to torment her that she was sure of. All of this was some sick challenging game to him.
She needed to put a stop to this now, she had the devil knocking at her door and there was no way she was letting him in. God help her.
