Chapter 49: Meeting again

"Trust me, the coffee here is so good. You’re gonna love it." Ava said.

Damien had left her to attend some business so she had decided to hang out with Ava. It got lonely when she was all by herself in the house. But when Damien was around, all she wanted was to cuddle with him while he read her books.

His voice was just pure perfection. He couldn’t believe the type of books she was reading.

"Are you sure you’re a virgin? Because this book is just pure porn put in words." He had commented last night.

Beatrix still remembered the horror in his eyes as he read an explicit scene to her.

"Please don’t tell me this is your expectation of sex. This is so badly written and gives such an unrealistic expectation about sex."

Beatrix raised her brows at him,"Really?"

"Yes darling. No man can last an hour in one round unless he has taken medicine or something.

The female’s body is different. It takes longer for them to reach orgasm than men so you have to make the foreplay worthwhile.."

And that’s how he had lectured her about sex for an hour. Beatrix shook her head and smiled softly at the memory.

They entered the homely looking cafe with its baby pink walls and mouth-watering smell.

They were seated by a friendly older lady.

Beatrix allowed the smell of warm chocolate to soothe her.

They were just going through the menu when Ava’s phone buzzed. It wouldn’t stop ringing so she shot Beatrix an apologetic smile and left the cafe to receive the call.

Beatrix signaled for her to leave and busied herself with going through the list of all the amazing coffee options.

They all looked so nice it was hard to choose one. Maybe she should wait for Ava to come.

Beatrix didn’t hear the bell tinkle when the door to the cafe opened. She didn’t hear a man approach the counter and in his rich British voice ordered a black coffee .

She didn’t hear his cup drop to the floor moments later but what she did hear was a voice saying her name and that voice sent shivers through her body.

"Beatrix." He breathed and Beatrix whipped her head around to convince herself that she was delusional.

She wasn’t dreaming. He was standing there looking exactly as the last time she saw him.

Rhys. There he was, the first guy who had taken her first kiss. Who had made butterflies swoon in her stomach.

Beatrix blinked, she had imagined different scenarios where she would meet him then run into his arms but now she didn’t know what to do.

It seems like she has no control over her body, her feet standing on her own before she had a chance to protest or really consider what she was doing.

The cafe was room-sized so they were within a two-feet distance in a matter of minutes. Rhys stood in front of her,

His lips curled into a sly lopsided smile, his eyes glinting as they give her the once over before coming back to her face

"Long time no see little mouse, miss me?"

Beatrix swallowed anxiously as she tried to reply to him.

Taking a deep breath she forced out a smile.

"Hi Rhys."

Okay he looks freaking gorgeous. It seems he had gotten more tattoos and more piercings?

Why was she attracted to him in the first place? Exactly because of this wild side of him. He was dangerous, someone her father would warn her about.

He seemed to have gotten more seductive and gorgeous.

"Hi love" he replied with a teasing smile, and her mind flashed back to the night she met him when they shared those exact words.

Beatrix blinked as the deja vu subsided.

"Oh my God, Beatrix, who is this hot guy? I thought your fiancé is gorgeous but-"

"Fiancé?" He interrupted Ava. Beatrix didn’t miss the storm brewing in his eyes.

"Y-yes."

Rhys’ lips pulled into a thin line.

"Ah, and this fiancé of yours - how long have you been with him?"

"Almost two months." She replied quietly.

Beatrix shifted uncomfortably as he just stared at her without saying anything.

She thought she had gotten over him in the past few months but the same attraction she had for him a year ago was still knocking the wind from her like it never left, and she couldn’t let that happen.

She was with Damien, she shouldn’t be feeling like this towards someone else.

"Isn’t that adorable?" he said condescendingly.

Rhys tilted his head, squinting his eyes briefly with a smug expression "Tell me love, this fiancé of yours,does he make you happy?"

Beatrix gulped as she nodded, "Yes, he makes me happy."

Rhys hummed, nodding as he started taking slow steps towards her and she immediately backed up.

As he got closer, he tilted his head curiously, a menacing look to his captivating blue eyes

"Really now?"

Rhys stopped a few inches from her , and she instinctively took one step back, becoming more nervous.

"Y-yes." Beatrix stuttered, "He is a good man."

Okay why did she want to convince him that

Damien was a great guy? Maybe it was because of gloating in his eyes.

Rhys closed the gap between them , raising his brow and tucked his finger under the strap of her dress, moving his finger back and forth underneath it as he watched thoughtfully.

"Well I’m happy that you’re happy."

Her breathing picked up as he leaned forward to whisper in her ear,

"I couldn’t forget you, and it drives me insane," he murmured, moving his lips back to her ear "Does that fiancé give you what you want?"

"Does he know about that little devil inside of you, love?" he rasped as he tucked her hair behind her ear.

Beatrix flushed and stepped back. "I-I don’t know what you’re talking about."

Rhys chuckled, "Oh you’re still a bad liar, little mouse."

Beatrix swallowed the dry feeling in her mouth.

His phone rang interrupting the moment. He pulled it from his pocket and glanced at the caller ID before putting it back in his pocket.

"Well I have to go. But it was nice meeting you again, little mouse. I will see you around."

"Bye Rhys."

"Bye love."
