Chapter 165: Nightmare

"N-no don’t! Please S-stop! I beg you, we will give you everything you want! Daddy is rich and we can afford anything."

The young girl begged as tears streamed down her face. Her breathing was cut off as the man wrapped his right hand around her neck slammingm her back against the wall. She tried to breath, but it was painfully difficult. She was burning for oxygen

But we are just getting started, little princess. Daddy’s money cannot save you today." The man chuckled and loosened his grip enough for her to breath.

"No please...daddy, save me." The girl’s gaze moved to her parents who were unconscious on the floor.

The man scoffed and one of his large hands tangled into the back of her blond hair, wrenching hard on her scalp.

The pain she felt was horrible. She wanted it to stop. She wanted to go home and watch movies with daddy and mommy. She screamed and begged for the pain to end but they didn’t listen to her.

They laughed while more of her blood trickled down from her nostrils, the warmth flooding down over her lips and hitting her chin. She screamed and wriggled out of the man’s grip.

"P-please...stop it hurts!!"

"Shut up!" Without warning the man smashed her forehead against the wall. The girl shut her eyelids together to soothe the pain in her head.

She barely noticed when the man released his firm grip on her hair. Her body crumbled forward. Her hands clumsily reached out, hitting the wall before she fell down harshly and then she saw the blood-

Beatrix screamed, her eyes opened as she frantically looked around. She breathed a sigh of relief when her eyes fell on the familiar clock in her room.

She was safe. She exhaled and poured herself a glass of water from the bedside table and gulped it down. She removed the sheets from her body and got down from her bed.

She needed air to clear her mind and it wasn’t like she could sleep again. She decided to go to the terrace to clear her mind. It was her favorite spot in the house.

She put on her bedroom sandals and made her way to the terrace.

When she reached the rooftop she sat on the edge with her feet dangling in the cold air. The streets were mostly empty at this time of the night.

The city lights shone in perfect boundaries illuminating the misty city with the perfect halation creating a bright wondrous image.

She stared at the starry black sky and she breathed in the cool air. She sighed in content before feeling hopelessness wash over her. It’s been so long since she had had a nightmare. Why was it starting now?

Beatrix shivered as the cool breeze hit her skin sending goosebumps on her skin.

She turned around when she heard footsteps behind her and turned to find that it was Matteo, her brother.

"Hey, are you okay?" Matteo asked, concern etched on his face as he sat down beside her.

Beatrix nodded, trying to push the remnants of her nightmare to the back of her mind. "Yeah, just a bad dream."

Matteo wrapped his arm around her, offering her comfort. "Want to talk about it?"

Beatrix shook her head. She didn’t want to burden him with her nightmares. "It’s fine. I’m okay now."

They sat in silence for a while, watching the city below. The only sound was the soft humming of the city, and the occasional car horn in the distance.

"Remember when you and Ares used to come up here and stargaze?" Matteo said, breaking the silence.

Beatrix smiled, memories flooding back to her. "Yeah, those were good times. We used to make up our own constellations and stories."

Matteo chuckled. "Yeah, like the one where the Big Dipper was a giant spoon that stirred the stars."

Beatrix laughed, feeling the weight of her nightmare lift slightly. "Or when we thought shooting stars were aliens visiting Earth."

Matteo grinned. "You were such kids."

Beatrix chuckled, "Yeah."

They sat in comfortable silence once again, lost in their memories. Beatrix was grateful for her brother’s company, and for the distraction from her nightmare.

"So have you heard from Damien and his brother?" Matteo asked out of the blue.

Beatrix turned to look at her brother and sighed, "No. I haven’t. He said, I should be patient. He is taking over the world for me."

Matteo chuckled, "Fucking bastard. From my sources he has started causing chaos in his family.

His cousins wanted to overthrow him but it seems he already had a plan in place. Family wars could be brutal."

Beatrix frowned, "But will he be okay? Do you think he would win this family feud?"

Matteo ruffled her hair, "You need to have a little faith in your fiancé. He hasn’t been the leader all these years for nothing."

Beatrix nodded, "I know but I still can’t help it."

She sighed. It’s been almost a week since she last heard from him and she couldn’t help but get worried.

"You really love him don’t you?"

Beatrix blushed, "Yeah.."

"Well how can you love another person if you really loved him? His brother too. I just can’t wrap my head around this no matter how hard I try."

"Well...even I have a hard time wrapping my head around it. I just know that I love both of them and I can’t imagine living without any one of them."

Matteo wrapped his hands around her and pressed a kiss on her hair, "Well those men better treat you right or they’re going to be hearing from me. I’m happy for you. You deserve all the happiness in the world. Especially after what we have put you through."

Beatrix smiled, "Thank you Matteo."

Matteo nodded, "Welcome."

"So have you found out who has been sending those packages to our house? It’s been getting worse these past few days."

Matteo frowned, "No we haven’t yet. We are still working on it. Don’t worry, we will protect you. No one would ever hurt you again."

Beatrix smiled at her brother, "I know." She yawned.

"Go back to sleep, I wlll stay her for a while." Matteo said softly.

Beatrix wanted to argue but she just nodded,

"Alright. See you later."
