The Sweetest Temptation -
Chapter 166: Home
Chapter 166: Home
ONE WEEK LATER
It’s been years since Damien had set foot in this place. The concept of home after his father died had been foreign to him.
His uncle had let him live with him after his father died but never once had he felt safe or even liked.
It’s was a mere battlefield in that house where only the stringer came out alive.
His uncle didn’t shower him or even his own kids with affection. He downright put them against each other so they would become invincible.
He fed them with this crazy idea that they could take over the family business out of his hand.
But they had underestimated him. He wasn’t his father’s son for no reason. The torture and abuse his father had inflicted on him had prepared him for whatever sick calculation his cousins and uncles had plan.
They had said he was too young to run the family business and he didn’t argue with them. He had given the position to his uncle.
When he was old enough to put an end to the constant bounty on his head he had flown to the other side of the ocean.
There he had built himself to whatever he is now. The last time he was here he had put a bullet straight in between the eyes of his uncle in front of his kids and wives.
Yes they probably hate him but he didn’t care. If you wanted to be on top of the pyramid, you need a enemies to keep you pushing forward.
He stood at the doorstep of the highly secured mansion that was located on the outskirts of New York.
It’s a huge, old perfect place where devils and demons reside. The brick facade looks dull, unassuming if what actually lurks behind the walls of the place.
The four-story house sits on a large piece of land with huge gardens surrounding it, a pool in the front a clinic and two annexed houses for the staff one in the east side and one the other on west side.
It’s exhausting to remember the facilities the old man made sure to include in his lions den. Such as an indoor pool, w golf course and even a spa.
And oh let’s not forget the hidden club where him and his minions torture and play with little children.
Unfortunately Rhys had stumbled there one time. He shook his head, putting out the unpleasant memories out of his mind.
Upon his arrival, he was not surprised that no one came to meet him. He didn’t inform anyone that he was coming and the maids were avoiding him like they have seen a ghost.
"Little Damie"
He was attacked out of nowhere by a warm hug from a small woman with pale skin.
Damien patted her back as she hanged on him with all her strength and only pulled back to inspect him left and right, concern etched on her face.
In the years since he had last seen her she had become thinner and bonier probably due to old age.
Lines surrounded her eyes and appear on her forehead and her hair was white now.
But that didn’t hide Elizabeth Niarchos beauty nor her elegance. The woman was dressed in an elegant green shirt and white blouse. A shrew wrapped around her neck.
"You have gotten bigger and even have more muscles than the last time I saw you. You’re no longer a boy I see." He patted Damien’s arms.
"Have you been eating well? Did you make sure if it, Xavier?"
"Yes ma’am." Xavier said softly.
"Hmm and what about you? Have you also been eating well? Your mama has been worried about you. You should visit her too."
Xavier nodded, "I will."
Elizabeth Niarchos looked at Damien’s face her own face morphing into concern and anger.
"What happened to your face? Is it one of your many masks to scare your cousins and your auntie?" He had always been playing with masks since he was a boy to scare his cousins it seems his grandmother thought he was wearing one again
"Yes. I need something to scare them right? A welcome gift."
A dark shadow fell over his grandmother’s face. She probably didn’t believe him but Damien didn’t want to worry the old woman. She had been through a lot already.
"Alright. Don’t run away like the last time. See me before you leave and remove that mask before coming.
You want to scare this old lady to death!"
She swats him on the arms.
Damien nodded, "Alright. I’m sure my cousins, uncles and aunties are waiting for me now. They had probably heard I’m back now."
Damien knew what was running through their mind right now. How could he possibly be alive? Oh darlings you’re in for a surprise.
When Damien stepped in the direction of the house, his grandmother grabbed his hand between her smaller ones.
"Be tolerant of everyone inside, my boy.
Everything’s changed, but everything remain the same."
He could hear the warning and concern floating in his grandmother’s words. But he knew this and had prepared for this. They wanted to take over his empire? They had to kill him first.
"I know grandma. You don’t have to worry about me."
"Nonsense. If I don’t worry about you, who would? Be careful okay?" She got on tiptoed to touch his hair and patted his face.
"I’m going back to my assulym. You know where to find me. Take care of him, Xavier."
"Yes ma’am."
With one last unsure look, she heads to where her guards were waiting for her.
Everyone knew these guys were sent by his aunty to monitor Elizabeth Niarchos. After all she is the only one who can pronounce someone as heir and had access to where the family documents were. That’s the only reason why they hadn’t kill her yet. They were waiting for her to reveal where it was first.
But only if they knew he had everything already. Access to everyone’s little dirty secrets, the family heirloom and business documents.
His grandmother trusted only him. So she had given it to him before he had ran away.
