Chapter 102: Miss you

"Beatrix?" he called out softly as he approached.

She turned towards him, her eyes red and swollen. "Oh, Rhys," she said, her voice heavy with emotion. "I’ve been sitting here for hours, just thinking."

Rhys walked over and sat down beside her, taking her hand in his. "What are you thinking about?" he asked gently.

"I’m thinking about everything that’s happened," she said, her voice shaking. "I’m thinking about how unfair it all is. And I’m thinking about how much I miss him. It’s been two months now."

Rhys nodded understandingly, his heart heavy with pain.

"I know it’s hard," he said softly. "But we’ll get through this together. I promise."

Beatrix looked at him, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Rhys," she said, leaning her head on his shoulder. "I don’t know what I’d do without you."

Rhys wrapped his arm around her, holding her close as they sat there on the balcony, watching the sun set over the city.

Beatrix was starting to lose hope, and even Rhys’s optimism was beginning to waver. They had done everything they could think of to try and wake Damien up, but nothing seemed to work.

Even though his vitals had improved tremendously and he was healing very quickly after Ace brought his team of doctors.

Now they just had to wait for him to wake up.

"Why don’t you go take a bath? I will watch over Damien." Beatrix suggested once they got inside the hospital.

"Little mouse are you saying that I stink?" Rhys asked, arching his brows.

Beatrix chuckled, "No. You look tired. I was thinking a bath would help you."

Rhys grinned, "Okay. I will be right back." He pressed a kiss on Beatrix’s forehead before heading out to shower.

Beatrix sat beside Damien, staring at his face in awe. Despite all he had been through, he was still breathtakingly beautiful. She couldn’t help but be drawn to him, her eyes tracing the lines of his face and the scars that marked his skin.

She reached out and gently touched his forehead, remembering the deep gash that had once marred his skin. Now, it was almost fully healed, but the scar remained.

As she sat there, she held Damien’s hand tightly, kissing his fingers tenderly. She closed her eyes and focused on the beeping sound of the machines, letting it reassure her that Damien was still alive.

"Wake up, Damien," she whispered, her voice laced with longing. "I miss you so much."

She held his hand against her heart, as if hoping that the rhythm of her beating heart would somehow reach Damien and bring him back to her. She knew that her words were unlikely to reach him, but she clung to the belief that her heart’s message would find a way to him.

"B-Beatrix?"

The sound was barely audible, but Beatrix heard it clearly. In an instant, her eyes flew open and locked with another pair of eyes she had longed to see for weeks.

Damien’s amber eyes were just as beautiful as she remembered, and she wanted to get lost in them forever. Her heart was beating rapidly with excitement and joy as she realized that Damien was awake.

"Damien!" She exclaimed, unable to believe it. "You’re awake! Thank god you’re awake!"

Damien groggily reached up to his head, feeling the throbbing and bits of pain.

"Beatrix," he managed to say, his voice weak.

Beatrix couldn’t contain her excitement as she took Damien’s hand in her own. "You’re finally awake, Damien. I’ve been praying for this moment."

Tears of joy streamed down Beatrix’s face as she looked at Damien.

She had been by his side every day since the accident, praying for him to wake up. It had been a long and difficult journey, but seeing him awake and alive was worth every moment of worry and fear.

"I love you,Damien," Beatrix said, squeezing hid hand. "I’m so glad you’re back with me."

Damien gave a small smile, his eyes still filled with pain and exhaustion.

Beatrix leaned down and kissed Damien’s forehead.

Rhys rushed inside the room and they both turned to look at him.

Beatrix flushed and averted her gaze when she realized that he was totally naked with water dripping on him onto the floor.

It seemed he was was in the middle of showering.

"Such a nice way to welcome me brother." Damien muttered.

Beatrix burst into laughter seeing the horror in Damien’s eyes.

Rhys’ face morphed into a frown and as if a switch had gone off in his head he looked down and realized that he was naked.

"Ermm Rhys...I think you should put something on."

Rhys blinked still in shock, it looked like his brain was still processing the fact that Damien had woken up.

"O-okay."

Rhys quickly grabbed knickers and shirt before returning to the room. Damien was sitting up in bed, a bemused expression on his face.

"Sorry about that," Rhys said, his face turning red with embarrassment. "I didn’t expect you to wake up so soon."

"It’s alright," Damien said, waving his hand dismissively. "I’m just glad to see that you’re okay."

Rhys nodded, relieved that Damien had woken up.

Damien frowned and grabbed his head, letting out a groan in pain.

"He missed you...."

As Beatrix spoke, Damien’s eyes began to flutter and his body started to convulse. She watched in horror as his limbs thrashed about, hitting the bed rails and knocking over a nearby tray of medical equipment.

"Damien, Damien, can you hear me?" she cried, trying to grab hold of his flailing arms. "What’s happening? Are you okay?"

But Damien didn’t respond. He seemed to be in a different world, lost in the throes of some unknown seizure.

As the convulsions continued, Beatrix panicked. Rhys grabbed the call button and pressed it repeatedly, screaming for the nurses to come.

Within seconds, the room was filled with medical staff, all rushing to Damien’s side. They injected him with a sedative and placed him on a ventilator to help him breathe.

As the drugs took effect, Damien’s body finally went still. But Beatrix could see the fear in his eyes, and she knew that this was just the beginning of a long and difficult journey back to health.
