The Sweetest Temptation
Chapter 101: Debt

Chapter 101: Debt

Rhys sat at the head of the conference table, his hands clenched into fists as he listened to Xavier’s plan for revenge.

He wanted to make the Russians pay for what they had done to his brother and he wouldn’t rest until he had gotten his revenge.

"We hit them where it hurts," Xavier was saying, his voice low and steady. "We take out their operations, sabotage their deals. We make it clear that this kind of thing is not tolerated."

Rhys nodded, his jaw clenched. "I like it. But I want more. I want to make them suffer like they made my brother suffer."

Xavier’s expression softened. "I understand your anger, Rhys. But we can’t let our emotions cloud our judgment. If we make rash decisions, it could backfire and hurt us in the long run."

Rhys let out a sigh, running a hand through his hair. "You’re right. We need to be smart about this. But I can’t just sit back and do nothing."

"We won’t be doing nothing," Xavier reassured him. "We’ll be hitting them where it hurts most. Their wallets. Their reputation. And if we play our cards right, we’ll come out on top."

Rhys nodded, feeling a sense of determination wash over him. They would get their revenge, but they would do it in a way that didn’t jeopardize their own organization.

Xavier nodded, satisfied with Rhys’s response. "Good. Now, let’s get to work. I’ll have some of our guys start gathering information on the Russians. In the meantime, you should go see your brother and make sure he’s getting the best care possible."

Rhys nodded and turned to leave the office. As he walked out, he couldn’t shake the feeling of determination that had settled in his chest. He was going to make the rival mafia pay for what they had done, no matter what it took.

Over the next few days, the two men worked tirelessly to gather as much information as they could on the rival mafia. They analyzed their movements, their sources of income, and their weaknesses. And when they felt they had enough, they would put their plan into action.

They would strike at the Russian’s warehouses and distribution centers, crippling their operations and causing them financial damage. They would also send a message by taking out a few key players, showing that they were not to be messed with.

By the time they had finished their planning, the two men were confident that they had come up with a solid course of action. They just had to wait for the right moment to strike.

As they wrapped up their meeting, Xavier clapped Rhys on the back. "We’ll get our revenge," he said. "But we have to be patient and stay focused. Don’t let your emotions get the best of you."

Rhys nodded, determination etched on his face. "I won’t," he said. "I’ll do whatever it takes to bring those bastards down."

"Good. We have support from Ace and even though I don’t know what he does he seems to be a man with influence."

Rhys frowned, "Don’t you find it weird that you couldn’t find any information about him? It’s like he doesn’t even exist."

Xavier chuckled, "Only a man with influence can erase his entire existence from the database. I don’t think he is an enemy and he hasn’t given me any indication that he will backstab us.

The only reason why he is helping us is because of his little girlfriend. He wants us to protect her when he is not around in the future.

He just a man laying down plans to protect his woman in the future."

Rhys hummed in response. He had to admit that because of Ace the attacks they had been getting from the Russians had stopped and Damien was recovering very well.

The team of doctors he had brought had perform miracles. The life support that Damien was on had been removed and his burns were completely healed. It was left with the scars.

Also Damien’s vitals were much better than the first weeks they had brought him to the hospital.

Now they were just waiting for him to wake up. The doctors had assured them that any moment from now he could wake up.

So they were just waiting and hoping that Damien would wake up soon.

"Isn’t the royal family the only people with such power to hide their identity in the data base?"

Xavier nodded, "Yeah. That’s exactly what I was suspecting."

"Why would someone from the royal family be associating with a mafia syndicate?"

Xavier shrugged, "I don’t know but we owe him a favor now and I know when the time is right. We have to pay. I just hope we will be able to repay that debt."

Rhys hummed in approval.

"So how is Beatrix? Do you want me inform her family? The last time I saw her she looked awful. Maybe some family moments could help her."

Rhys sighed, "No don’t. She doesn’t want them to know. I think she is afraid her father wouldn’t allow her to be with Damien if he finds out. He will take her away."

Xavier leaned back in his chair, "I’m glad she still wants Damien even if he is disfigured now. He could use some love in his life once he wakes up."

"Yeah." Rhys nodded. He wondered how Damien would react when he wakes up and find out that half of his face has been disfigured.

*********

Rhys approached the hospital room cautiously, his heart heavy with worry. He had been gone for several hours, running errands and trying to clear his head, and he wasn’t sure what he would find when he returned. As he approached the room, he saw a figure sitting alone on the balcony, and his heart skipped a beat.

He rushed towards the figure, recognizing the silhouette as Beatrix. She was sitting with her legs hanging over the edge of the balcony, staring out at the city below with a faraway look in her eyes. Rhys couldn’t help but wonder what she was thinking about.
