Chapter 94: Jorō, in the Flesh
Chapter 94: Jorō, in the Flesh
"You are too naive, Tamayō," Levi said, finally stepping in. Her yellow eyes narrowed, sharp as blades.
"Can you not feel the pressure radiating from that small body? That is no child. That is a woman!"
The yellow in her eyes flared ominously. "And as we have previously agreed... all other rivals must fall—"
She didn’t get to finish.
Because Flora moved.
She surged up at the sound of Levi’s voice—then suddenly rushed toward her.
Levi didn’t even get to finish her villain monologue and threats.
Flora clung to her legs like a lost kitten.
"Mama!!"
"Huh?" That was... all of our reaction.
My "huh" was more like, "I’m about to be dragged into something troublesome, right?"
"Y-Young one," Levi blinked, speaking softly. "Who is your father?"
And that’s what she asks next!!
Flora grinned and turned to point at me with both arms like she was introducing a stage magician.
"Papa is over there!"
Chaos. Immediate, inevitable chaos.
My entire followers erupted like a clogged volcano finally set free.
Gasps. A few stifled sobs.
"Oh, Flora. Where have you been all this while?" Levi asked sweetly, lifting her up like a seasoned mother. "You shouldn’t trouble your parents like that, understood?"
"Okay, Mama!" she chirped.
I think the heavens split open and shone rays of light on them. Probably my imagination.
Even Tamayō, ever the unhinged menace, faltered.
Her multiple pupils vibrated. She started biting her nails bitterly, like a wicked stepmother witnessing the joy of her enemies.
Alicia, meanwhile, gritted her teeth.
Then she bolted toward me.
"So be it!" she declared dramatically, yanking me by the wrist and dragging me toward the house. "Then I will just make a baby with Ruby right now!"
"WHAT?!" I squealed. "You’ve got it all wrong! I didn’t—!"
She turned to me, eyes glassy, lip trembling.
"You... don’t want me?"
"Eh? I, uh—!"
Yikes, I was asked a troublesome question!
"Let’s just—JUST CONTINUE THE ANNOUNCEMENT!!"
After some deep breaths, I laid it all out—how Flora came about, what her deal was, and why Levi and I got auto-assigned parenthood roles by the twisted logic Coastelle ran on.
The tension deflated a little. The murderous intents subsiding.
"Alright. These are the new summons that joined us recently." I raised a hand. "Come forth!"
With my signal, the black fog appeared like usual—curling dramatically, and then figures emerged.
They all knelt.
Immediately the Phantom Fangs caught sight of one of the summons, they entered offensive stance, ready to pounce.
I gestured them to halt, but I did understand why they’d do that.
Behind me were fifty new Specter Wolves—reinforcements for Mumoko no Kiba.
There were also three special elite specter wolves; a bit different from the rest, in that they already were in human forms.
And aside from the Specter Wolf summons, there were four special ones; one of which we were already familiar with...
The Owl-Head Devil!!
Just kidding.
That guy’s probably still somewhere trying to not go extinct after that soul-shattering damage.
If he ever revives, it’ll be in, like, a millennia or so. So, yeah... don’t expect to see him anytime soon. Even if he’s a devil.
No, the special summon we all know and love was actually—I almost killed her again yesterday, due to shock—Jorō. In the flesh.
Yeah, you heard me. Jorō. That deranged spider bandit.
Except, this time, she wasn’t deranged.
She was... refined.
She was draped in a high-quality, luxurious pink robe, the kind you’d expect from a wealthy merchant, or noble—complimenting her soft pink hair that swayed with each movement.
She was also holding a terrifying scythe.
I’m not sure where she found that weapon—I didn’t see that yesterday—but I wasn’t about to ask. The scythe had a spider icon on the top, though. Kind of cool.
But that was the least eye-catching thing about her.
She had human legs now! The spider parts were gone, lost to the void.
She did, however, let me know that she could revert to her previous dreadful state.
And her red eyes seemed fragmented by a dark web, like a sinister spider web wrapping around her pupils—creepy, but also kind of cool in a certain half-ghoul way.
Nevertheless, she was no longer a Spider Devil—Jorōgumo. Now, she was {Celestial Beast—Jorō.}
Applaud. Applaud. Applaud.
"Sorry I chopped you up like an afternoon snack." I turned to her. "I really messed you up, sorry."
"My, there is no need to apologize, Mr Lord. it was an honor like no other to reside in your bowels." She bowed.
"If it makes you feel better, you somewhat tasted nice."
"Oh, it fills me with great joy to be of such use to my Master."
The conversation was very misleading. I know.
And Alicia, Levi, and Tamayō, were being very misled.
Their silence was eerie. Their expressions locked between confusion and horror.
Jorō turned to the masses, a subtle smirk playing on her lips.
"I was christened Jorō by his divine majesty, Lord Ravenswood," she announced, her voice slightly husky but commanding. "And it is my pleasure to work with all of you under his supremacy."
A beat of silence.
"I may be fairly new here," she continued, addressing the crowd. "But do well to chastise me if I make any mistake. And..."
She turned her gaze to the three ladies, the tension thickening.
"I shall also do well to punish even my seniors if they ever go out of line. Thank you."
There was no mistaking it.
That, right there, was a declaration of war on the Mad Trio—Alicia, Levi, and Tamayō.
And how does she know my original name?!
Platform, confess!!
*
After Jorō’s grand introduction, I reluctantly moved on to call the others.
Three Demon Wolves.
Though they now had human forms, they’d transformed into their demonic Wolf forms for me yesterday.
Hahaha, it was like something straight out of a nightmare realm, I tell you.
What I saw were no wolves. No. They were plain demonic monsters—red furred.
One had a single, slightly jagged golden horn piercing from their temple, like a unicorn.
