Chapter 94: Chapter 93

Chapter 93

"I’m Nesa." The woman said between panting and tapped a hand on the ground in surrender. "This extra attention would get you in trouble."

"I hate it." Melisca hissed back.

Nesa growled, which made Melisca jump back away from the woman, and she pretended to attack her but was electrocuted by the collar. They had activated it instantly after the round.

Hunters entered the cage and went to Nesa’s side to take her away. But she looked back at Melisca.

She just stared at Nesa while they dragged the woman to the tunnel. She was weak, and her neck was bleeding from the burns. But she knew she would survive. She would heal once the effect of ABD wore off.

Melisca had to worry in her own cut. It was near her wrist and about three inches long, a bit deep. She took off her gloves and wrapped them around the wound. Not wanting anymore of her blood to touch anywhere. When she got out, the trainers were immediately on her side. And the people had quieted down.

"Lorwey! We never expected that. You’re on a different level." Macky was ecstatic and tapped her shoulder. She winced. It might have been injured also.

"Hands off." She spat, and the guy removed his hand and raised them in surrender.

"Liz!" Lorna ran to her side. "Are you okay? You’re wounded."

Melisca "I’m fine." She grumbled.

"That was excellent, Lorwey. Way beyond excellent." The other trainer praised her.

"Can I take a rest for the day?" She asked, and all of them gave her permission.

"We’ll take you to the clinic so your injuries and wounds would be treated instantly." Gea said.

"No. I’m fine. I’d just like to take a shower and relax." She stated and started to walk down the platform. She doesn’t want anyone to say anything anymore to her.

Her mind was in chaos. She needed silence.

Lorna did not bother to follow her. She’ll visit her later during lunch.

The other trainees make way for Melisca until she exits the arena. She can feel their eyes burning at the back of her head.

The committee inside the glass wall above couldn’t take their eyes away from the exiting girl.

"She was indeed interesting. Different." The masked man commented.

Vera had a grin on her face. "Of course. My daughter knew who to befriend with." She proudly announced it as if she wasn’t against it before. But that was normal for a mother to worry about their daughter’s choice of friends.

Tyla beside Vera was sipping her tea, and there was a small smile on her lips as she raised the cup to her mouth. She was silently proud of the girl also.

Melisca went straight to the dorm. She felt heavy and exhausted. She took a peep at her cut, nope. It wasn’t healing yet. The ABD was still in her system. The uniform was damaged, and she had to wear plaster later to cover it, even if the wound would heal. So that no one would see that her skin was perfectly fine, like nothing happened.

She’s alone in the dorm, as everyone was still at the arena. She got fresh clothes from her wardrobe and a handkerchief to bind it later to her slashed skin. Then she entered the bathroom and took off her clothes. She soaked her uniform in the sink, so the blood in it would be contaminated if ever they get samples again from her.

She stared at the sink. There indeed was a large bruise on her shoulder and some scattered in her body. Everything would be fine. But it hurts, though. She hissed.

"Geez. This is one of the reasons why it sucks to be human." She grumbled under her breath. There was also a slight bump on her forehead.

She entered the shower and winced when the cold water touched her skin. She did not use the water heater. Cold was much more useful for her body. It somehow numbs the pain while she wasn’t healing on her own yet.

Her mind went back to the interaction they had. Nesa licked her blood when it touched her skin. And then she knew what she was. That was a new discovery for her. If another supernatural was able to do that, then it would be easy to recognize her. Well, that if they can withdraw blood from her. It was possible during fights.

But what bothers her more was Nesa’s pleading for help. She wanted to get out there. To be set free. And she said something about horrible things, and they don’t have time.

What does she mean by horrible? And not having enough time? She said ’they’.So, there were others like her. She wanted to roll her eyes at that. Of course, Melisca. There were others, obviously.

She chided herself. What’s gonna happen to them? Or what was happening to them actually?

Her mind went blank for a moment. Trying to recall all the information she had gathered so far. And one thing stands out the most.

"The experiments." She mumbled breathily. Her head was bowed down under the shower. Her body gradually felt light.

Yes. She had known it before. And it bothered her a little. But now, someone reached out to her. One of them was asking for help. How would she be able to help them then? She just can’t sneak up and rescue them without a plan.

The idea itself seemed impossible. They were purebloods, strong enough. But they couldn’t even get themselves free. And what about her? Only a hybrid. She sighed. There were a lot to consider. She can’t take everyone down if ABD is released. And then there’s that Anti-superno.

"Fucking poisons. Tsk." She cursed. If she decided to do this actually, it was by far the most difficult and nearly impossible to accomplish. If she won’t do it... Nesa threatened to reveal her being one of them. "Double fuck." She cursed again and clenched her eyes in frustration. Either choice could get her killed. And even by helping her, there’s no way that she could hide her identity all the way.

She sighed again, louder this time. She shouldn’t have taken that silly challenge in the cage fight. "Triple fuck." She regretted it now. But there’s no use to think about it anymore. She had to focus on thinking of ways to survive a suicide mission inside of an already suicide mission. Her entering the organization was suicide enough, and then her setting their captives free had doubled that up.

She still had hunters to kill. Why not kill them first and then she can rescue Nesa? But there were a lot of hunters and their freaking poisons. She can’t just take them out one by one, that would alert everybody.

She had no one to help her. Ezekiel immediately came to her mind. Her eyes blinked as if she was seeing him in front of her but he was just in her head. His handsome face was like a billboard sign inside her brain.

Melisca was certain that Ezekiel wanted to rescue his people from the hunters. But he just can’t attack them. They were powerful but what can they do if they were exposed to ABD and injected by Anti-superno?

NO. Absofuckinglutely no. Her heartbeat instantly sped up and thudded louder in her system. She was already thinking about the worse. Just a thought of it made her stomach churn. She didn’t know where the concern and hurt came from but she was already feeling it. She can’t and she don’t want to imagine it.

She would never let Ezekiel near the hunters. Her heart started to burn as she thought of him getting hurt and injected by the poison needles. No. She doesn’t want to think that he might survive or not. That’s a risk she never wanted to happen.

"Damn it." She smacked the tiled wall lightly. She was already feeling better and she noticed the cut in her wrist had turned pale pink. Her body was healing. But her emotions and mind were too far out deep in the shambles.

She grumbled. Can I even do it? It was the first time she doubted herself. She should. Because she had a lot to take on and she’s a lone wolf.

Melisca chuckled. Another turn of events. She was there to kill her criminals, not to rescue her other half. But then, the look in Nesa’s eyes. It was just for a brief moment but, she saw it. The hope and hopelessness at the same time. Nesa found hope in her while Melisca found hopelessness in her eyes. She knew how that felt. She very well knew those feelings.

And she hated it. It indeed was horrible. And time was everything.

It made her recall of how she ran to her father to save her mother. Hope and hopelessness at the same time was terrible. Horrible.

She sucked some air and bottled up the tears that wanted to escape. Her eyes felt hot despite of the coldness of the water.

With her clenched fist against the wall, she had decided. "Fuck. Let’s do it."
