The Runaway Huntress

Chapter 93: Chapter 92

Chapter 92

The two hunters at the side opened the door for her, and she stepped into the cage. Other senior hunters outside immediately sprayed something inside the cage. It touched her skin, and she felt herself weakening. Her nose wanted to scrunch up, but she refrained to do so. Humans shouldn’t be affected by it. And she was human as they knew of her.

The other woman in the cage was panting, and she almost fell on the floor, but she held to the bar to hold herself. She was coughing. This is the first time Melisca would be fighting a girl wolf. And she felt a little strange about it. She always aimed for the male wolves.

"Go, Melisca. Attack her while she was still on her knees!" Some people cheered outside.

"Weapons, Lorwey!" Shouted by a trainer.

She knew what to do, and she doesn’t want to comply with them. She’ll fight when in her own time, and she’ll draw her weapons out when she wants to.

Despite the ABD, she’s facing a pureblood werewolf.

Melisca strutted to the side, never taking her eyes off the girl. Then the woman walked away from the bar and stood in the middle, facing her head on.

The woman attacked first. She still had a bit of speed left, and Melisca was slightly taken aback at that. She stepped to the side, barely able to avoid her kick. Then the wolf instantly recovered and changed her stance. She tried to kick her again. Melisca blocked it by her forearm, and her foot took a step back from the impact. The woman was still fast and strong.

Melisca jumped back, and the wolf leapt on her. She did not evade her this time. She braced herself, and they rolled on the floor. Melisca was on top. She tried to hold the girl’s collar. Her gloved finger grazed it before her wrist was held by the girl. They really did deactivate the electric shock in it. She winced from the pain that the girl was holding it by such force. Then the girl pushed her body upwards by her lower torso. Melisca was almost thrown away, but she exerted the force she had left. The wolf failed to throw her off the top.

She tried to punch her, but the girl caught her other wrist. Melisca lifted her leg and tried to kick the girl’s face, but her boot did not reach it as the woman pushed her by her wrists and quickly stood up. Melisca almost lost her balance when she was thrown, but she managed to land on one knee.

This is good. Better actually.

She doesn’t need to hold back anymore.

The woman was equally strong and good at fighting. Maybe it was in the wolf’s blood to be a natural fighter.

There were cheers from the crowd, and most who were on the bench stood up and moved closer to the platform. Lorna was among them. She stood in front and was watching closely and eagerly.

And unknown to some, there were high-ranking members watching at the upper part of the arena. Where there was a glass wall. There were big monitors inside so they could watch more closely.

"Who was that girl fighting in the cage? I didn’t see her as one of the seniors before." Ask the man who had a deep voice and was wearing a mask that covered his entire face. Even his eyes were unrecognizable. The mask was painted silver gray and tied to the back of this long hair in a half pony.

"That’s Melisca Lorwey." Vera answered beside him. "My daughter recruited her. She’d proven enough. She was the very first who made senior in just a day."

The masked man nodded. "I can see she had so much potential. She was holding on her own in the cage."

The other committee members agreed.

"She was human, right?" The man asked again without taking his eyes away from the glass wall. They can see what’s happening down there through the glass, but people outside won’t see them. It’s a one-way mirror.

"Yes." Vera confirmed.

"She’s close to your daughter?" The woman on the other side of Vera asked. She had glowing white hair that looked silvery when glinted by the lights, but she doesn’t look any older than 40.

"It seemed so, Tyla. Loriena brought her to me." She answered.

Tyla nodded, and there was a smile on her face.

The

two attacked each other at the same time. The woman snatched one of Melisca’s knives. She managed to take out one. Melisca caught the wolf’s wrist, and the wolf twisted her hold on the knife and managed to cut Melisca’s skin.

This wasn’t good. But she did not let go of the girl’s hand and used her elbow to jab the girl’s forearm down without letting go of the woman’s wrist. The girl instantly lost the grip of the knife as her forearm cracked. She might have broken it.

Melisca caught the knife that was about to fall and sliced the girl’s skin. Blood was dripping on the floor.

She intended to make her bleed so that people would be confused in their blood if ever someone would take a sample from her.

The woman retreated and winced in pain, gripping her wounded and broken arm.

The people’s cheer got louder this time. They called her name. Melisca was trying not to show the pain in her face too. Her left wrist was sore. It could have been twisted from using such force to the wolf.

They were in a tie.

Melisca witnessed that the woman licked some blood at the back of her hand. Then it smiled at her after a few seconds.

"What’s your name?"

She was surprised that the wolf finally communicated with her. Her voice was gruff but wasn’t angry.

"Melisca?" The woman asked from what she heard around from the people who were shouting her name.

She did not answer though.

"Where are you from?"

Now, she’s getting chatty and there was a glow of interest in her eyes.

Melisca wasn’t in the mood for a chat. She attacked first this time. They fought like normal humans do but every kick and punches had exerted strengths that would certainly cut off a human’s limb or got then knocked down after a minute.

The people around them didn’t know that there were two supernatural inside. Not just one. And they were witnessing the fight of powerful females. Melisca didn’t use any weapon anymore. And she was somehow thankful that the wolf did not reach for it again.

When they happen to roll on the ground, the wolf was on the top this time. She moved her face closer to Melisca’s ears.

"I know what you are. I got a taste of your blood." She whispered and Melisca’s eyes widened. She got distracted that the woman managed to throw a punch to her face. It lulled her head to the side and there was a loud ringing in her ears.

She held the woman’s broken arm and she howled in pain. She sat up and kneeled behind the woman, her arm in her grip. "Why are you among them? Traitor." The woman said in gritted teeth. No one would notice that they were having conversation. Since the arena was loud enough.

"I’m in no one’s side." Melisca whispered back.

The wolf still had a fight in her. She threw her head back and she hit Melisca’s forehead with great strength. That made Melisca let go of the woman and threw her ass on the floor. But she wasn’t the only one who got hurt. They both grunted from the pain The woman crawled away from her.

Melisca caught her foot and pulled her back. The wolf tried to kick her but she didn’t let go. Instead, she jumped on top of the wolf.

With enough strength the wolf rolled them around.

The two were breathing heavily as beads of sweat were trickling on their brows and the side of their faces. No one was ready to give up.

Despite their injuries and bruises not healing, the two had great stamina. Well, they weren’t human after all. The other one of them wasn’t fully by the way.

"Help me get out or I would reveal what you are." The woman said in between their struggles.

"I’m not here to help your kind." She whispered back.

They were rolling here and there, throwing punches and kicks as if they weren’t injured already. Everyone got mesmerized in their performance. In the long run, it wasn’t as if they were fighting against each other anymore. It became like a fighting dance in how their strength was almost equal.

"You got to help or whatever your goal here would be done this instant." That was a threat that Melisca couldn’t refuse but to oblige somehow.

She didn’t answer. They were slowing down as they were not in their full potential to heal and had greater stamina from the ABD that affected them.

"Please. You don’t know what they do to us." There was an unpleasant look in the woman’s eyes. It was a look of helplessness as she stripped her armor down to ask for help. "It was horrible." She added.

As the woman’s body hit the ground and Melisca was on the top, she gritted her teeth. Both were panting. She stared more at the woman’s eyes. "Stay alive." She mumbled as she held the woman by the throat.

"We don’t have much time." The wolf held her wrist.

"Just stay alive." She repeated as their stares locked on each other. Then after a few seconds. "Surrender!" She said in a louder tone.
