Chapter 82

"No." Ezekiel’s immediate answer. His heartbeat vibrated in his entire system, though.

"You’re lying." Dravin simply stated as he stared at the wolf king. They both knew that he didn’t have to explain further. His heartbeat says it all. "Why would you lie about it?"

"You’re crossing the line, Dravin. I agreed to talk to you about business. Not my personal matters." His voice was low and dark, almost growling. "Now, answer my question. Why request for me personally?"

"Why not? It’s just all about business, and it’s been a long time since I’ve had one of your personal designs. Just for a change after three decades. A client is requesting your work." Dravin wanted to add that he should also consider it as a request from a brother, but he knew Zek wouldn’t like that.

Ezekiel doesn’t want to work with it as there are still impending priorities he has in the moment. But knowing Dravin, since he finally caught him in person, and would keep pushing the matter. He had to consider it. With a loud blowing breath, he contradictingly agreed. "Fine. Only about the design. Other things, you should discuss it with my team. Possibly with the new standing CEO."

Dravin could not resist the smile that crept up to his lips. He finally had what he wished for his new hotel project.

Melisca was now sitting at one of the benches, away from the platform. The rest was continuing their training. Lorna was among them.

Gea handed her a printed note with a few pages. "Here. That’s all about the details you need to know about supernatural beings. I should discuss this in a room with the rest of the new batch of newbies in the few days. But you are a special one. They want me to teach you as soon as possible so that you could learn other advanced stuff for seniors." She was standing before her with a restless stance.

"What are the perks for being senior?" She asked. Her hand was holding the notes. She wanted to scan and start reading them immediately, but she wanted to ask her curious questions first.

She eyed her. It was clear that she was contemplating whether to answer or what to say. "You would know the chemicals our scientists created. And I don’t consider fighting in the cage is a perk. But it was necessary for every hunter to face a supernatural because that’s what they would be after when they were ready to be deployed, considering you were not killed in the cage. Even though there was help from a chemical to lessen the supernatural’s ability, it also depends on you if you could take them down." Gea heaved a deep breath and looked solemnly into her eyes. "You see, Melisca. You were a bounty huntress. You know how to hunt people. For the supernatural, hunting was the easy part, but taking them down was the most critical point. It’s either you or them that would be killed."

Melisca knew all of that already. That’s why when she hunts, there is no hesitation. She aims to kill.

"And I’ve read in your profile that your reason was revenge for your family. That’s a great motivation. I won’t get personal with you by saying if that’s what they want because I don’t know what exactly happened. And since you’re already here, for you to achieve your goal, you should remember this one thing: survive. You need to survive whoever or whatever you are against."

She just kept on nodding. Gea was saying exactly what’s on her mind. She doesn’t have to remind her.

"And don’t worry about Lorna." Gea glanced in the girl’s direction at the platform. Melisca followed her gaze. Lorna was nodding her head to what Lawrenz was saying to her. "She can get out of here anytime she wants. That’s why everybody was envious of her." Then she grumbled. "She shouldn’t have come back. This time, Lawrenz might be serious about her training. Poor girl." She shook her head and faced her again.

Right. Lorna could have chosen not to comeback. But she heard from the girl that she did it because of her, and she wanted to learn also.

"You can teach her personally if you get some time. You two seemed close. She might get motivated from you." Gea continued.

She just nodded. She can do that.

"Alright." Gea stood straight and got her tablet that was sitting at the side. "Let’s start your lessons. Look at your notes." The woman started to discuss the basics of the supernatural world and some things she didn’t even know.

Ezekiel’s Limo was now entering the Jorda mansion. There were only a few people around. It was always like this whenever he visited the Jordas. But for extra precautions, he wore a mask until they reached the private dining room.

Liam Jorda was standing at the entrance along with his butler and a stunning young lady to his side. When the limo stopped, Gandolf stepped out and opened the door for his king.

He wasn’t able to visit the company after all. He went to where Dravin was headed to survey the area himself too. He had to get the measurement and every detail about the land. Dravin had handed him a document earlier for the entire information he needed to know for the design he wanted. Then he dropped him off at his penthouse in the city, near the Stavrus building. They had an argument before Dravin agreed.

"You stay in my penthouse. Not in any hotel rooms." He stated with finality in his tone.

"No. I already rented a room at a hotel." Dravin argued.

"You don’t have anyone with you. Don’t be so reckless."

"I can defend myself. I don’t need a babysitter! But of course, you wouldn’t know what I’ve become because you left!"

In an instant, Ezekiel was hovering over Dravin and his hands were on his throat. Dravin held his wrist and there was no fear in his eyes from what his older brother was doing. "You listen to me, Dravin." His voice was vibrating in his lungs from how low and restrained it become. He was gritting his teeth, barely opening his lips. "You stay in my penthouse for your safety or our business was done. One more thing, call a vamp to serve you or I would send some of my people to guard you. It’s daytime, you’re not in your full potential. You understand me?"

"Get off." Dravin pushed him with his vampire strength and that made Ezekiel let go of his throat.

He sat back across him. Both tugged their neckties to fix their appearance. His brother had grown stronger and wasn’t afraid of him anymore. Well, that’s what Dravin had shown him. He was relieved then that he had matured, and was trusted with the Blood Court’s business.

Liam greeted him and even bowed his head, and everyone else with him also din.

"Greetings, Mr. Stavrus. How was your trip?" Liam formally asked him in courtesy.

"Unexpected." He was referring when he met his brother.

"Greetings too, Mr. Castro." He turned to Gandolf. His general nodded at the pleasantry.

"Hello, Liam. How are you? It’s been a long time." Gandolf and his proper courtesy.

"We’re doing good, Mr. Castro. Everything was great."

"Please lead the way." He wanted for this to be done as soon as possible. Liam and his companions nodded and turned around to enter the mansion’s hall. Gandolf followed closely behind him, a briefcase in his hand.

He had been to Liam’s mansion before and nothing much had changed. It was all white and black in theme. Zek was the one who designed the entire estate for them a very long time ago. Only few furniture was replaced but the walls and other details were preserved by the different generations of the Jorda.

In the dining hall, everything was set on the long table. Only the butler and a maid waiting at the side.

"Before we settle down on our seats. Mr. Stavrus, this is my daughter. Veronika Jorda."

"A pleasure to finally meet you in person, Mr. Stavrus." Veronika offered a handshake to Ezekiel.

He took off the mask before introducing himself formaly to her now that she had grown up. "Ezekiel Stavrus." He did not mention his Rawson anymore for he was no longer part of the Court. He accepted her hand.

Her eyes widen for a second upon seeing his face. She might had recognized him from before. Her eyes lingered on his, but he met her gaze.

The woman was stunning with her strawberry blonde hair that falls in perfect waves down to her small waist. She had tiny freckles sprinkled over her nose, a pale white skin, and electric blue eyes. He doesn’t have to guess where she got those eyes, from Liam, of course.

He had seen her once when she was just little in one of his visits in the mansion when the girl was in the country. He knew she grew up abroad and completed her studies there. She’s the only heir of Liam so the position would fall on her automatically. And he was there to instruct her personally about everything.

It was a good thing then that he prepared a very useful gift. Since this time, a lady was about to be the acting CEO of Stavrus Construction Company. She needed to be prepared more than just her intelligence to run the business, but also her mind to encounter other beings in the corporate world. Most CEOs of the world’s wealthiest companies were supernatural like him.
