The Runaway Huntress -

Chapter 82: Chapter 81
Chapter 81
"What are you doing here?" Ezekiel asked in a low tone. His face was void of any emotion. It had been such a long time that he hasn’t talked to his direct family. Dravin was his half brother. Same father, different mother. They were not really on bad terms, and they weren’t the besties either. Well, not anymore.
The people passing around were eyeing the three of them, especially the two brothers. One hybrid and the other a pure-blood royal vampire. Despite the two wearing rings to tone down their auras, the tension in the air did not dissipate.
"I’m here to do business." Dravin inserted his hands into his pockets, as the other was holding a briefcase. "Is that how you greet your brother that you haven’t seen in ages? Say, almost a century. You could have visited us." There was bitterness in his tone. His face was in tight expression.
"I’m busy. And I’m not part of the Blood Court anymore."
"That’s bullshit!" Dravin exclaimed, losing his cold composure. Ezekiel didn’t even flinch from his tone. He was about to step close, face-to-face with Zek, but Gandolf quickly stood in front of his king.
Vampire prince or not, Gandolf would protect his king against anyone. He held his head high. Daring the vampire royalty to take any threat against his alpha. To do any stupid attempt.
"Prince Dravin, we’re in public." He stated calmly.
"You are always part of the Blood Court. It’s in your blood. Even if you chose the other part of you. Even if you left us." The grudge in his voice was too loud. And it was laced with hurt and something else.
"What’s your business here, Dravin?" He doesn’t want to talk about family drama, and it was never the thing he expected upon landing in Dhasma airport.
There was a flicker of rage in Dravin’s eyes. He was about to open his mouth, but he shut it again and took a deep breath instead. An audible exhale blew past his lips. His jaw was even ticking. He pulled out his hand from his pockets and ran it through his straight hair that reached his shoulders.
The two brothers had some obvious resemblance. From jet black hair, a Roman nose, and smirking lips. The only difference was that Dravin had softer cheekbones and gray eyes. Zek was taller by only an inch. It was almost unrecognizable.
"We’re planning to build a hotel branch here in Dhasma." Dravin answered after a few moments of contemplating what to say when he changed the subject and waved off the family topic. "I’m surveying the area."
"In broad daylight?" Zek raised a brow. "And why are you alone?" Vampires should have someone with them during daylight. Especially the royals. Be it a human entourage or vampire knights.
"So, you’re still concerned about your brother, huh?" He asked back in response. Then he looked at Gandolf. "General, isn’t it rude to be standing in between the two people talking?"
Zek tapped Gandolf’s shoulder. His general glanced at him, and he understood that he wanted him to step aside. He complied upon seeing the cold, hard gaze of his king.
Vampires really had grown ignorant for their safety. They might not have any idea about the Anti-superno, but all supernatural races knew that hunters still had their ways to kill them. There was an urge inside him that he should warn Dravin. Especially that he was in a city. Where humans and hunters among them could be just lurking around.
"Congratulations on your becoming CEO, though it was already a decade." He stated. Rawson Buildings, or RB, was the Blood Court’s business that was run by the vampire royalties. RB owns the world’s most luxurious chain of hotels and nightclubs in different countries.
Dravin snorted sarcastically. "Yeah. You didn’t even respond to the invitation I sent you for the announcement."
Zek heaved a deep breath. He doesn’t want to get back to that topic again. "Where’s your bodyguards, Dravin?"
"I don’t need one. Seriously, who could hurt me?" Arrogance emanated in him as he tugged lightly on his necktie.
Ezekiel stared coldly at him. Not just hurt you, but kill you, stupid brat. How he wanted to express those thoughts out loud. He had an urge to throttle him with the necktie he was trying to fix. "You’re ageless, not invincible."
Gandolf at the side wanted to laugh because Ezekiel himself often acts otherwise from what he just stated. But he tried to stay stoic and face straight.
Zek grumbled. "Whatever, you’re old enough." He would ask Gandolf to follow Dravin discreetly when they were out in the airport. "I’m leaving."
"No." Dravin instantly blocked his way. "Since you’re already here. Let’s talk about business."
His eyes squinted. "What business?"
"Perhaps we can talk about it in a more comfortable and proper place for discussion?"
Zek glanced at his wristwatch. He still had time before lunch, though. And about the visiting of the company, he can do it if Dravin and him won’t take long. "Fine. Let’s just talk in the car." It’s safer that way. They won’t have to be surrounded by humans. There could be hunters everywhere. It’s better to be extra careful than never.
"Really? That’s your proper place for discussion?" Dravin protested.
"It’s much safer and I’ll ask the driver to send you wherever you want to go after. Let’s go." He doesn’t want to hear anymore complain so he started to walk pass him.
Dravin was left astonished. He felt like Zek just wanted to dismiss him as soon as possible. How he wanted to strangle his older brother. His hands were itching to hold his throat for how he was treating him. But he still followed the two werewolves. He called for his own driver though to tail the one they would be riding.
It was a good thing then that Zek chose a limo to be his service. It was comfortable even though they would get caught in a traffic. He had the things he needed to be comfortable inside. The wide space for his entire figure to move around freely, the more silent atmosphere as it was customized for him. He also had a fresh stock of blood whenever he wanted to drink. It had been a long time though since he drank straight from the source. The nutrients won’t be like from someone alive, but it was enough for him because he was a hybrid. Food can satiate his stomach but blood can appease his real hunger and thirst.
He can’t ignore the need of his vampire side that long. That’s why he always had his red drink.
They settled inside his limo. He ordered for Gandolf to stay with the driver in the front seat. So only him and his brother were sitted in the back.
After they enter the limo, he offered him a drink. "Talk." He said as he poured a glass for him.
"I would be working with your people again for the new hotel. But this time, I wanted a design that you personally made. Not from any of your people." Dravin stated his purpose immediately. "I was going to talk with your team tomorrow after I’m done with the survey today. I’m about to request you from the acting CEO, Liam Jorda. For I can’t reach out to you personally."
"So, you’re thinking of using him to get to me." He handed the glass to him.
"You can compel him anyway to forget about me when you got my message." Dravin casually stated as he took a sip of the red drink.
His face hardened. "He is my people. Not yours to use as a messenger."
"Then you should respond to me willingly. Not hide from me or from the Court."
He palmed his face. "I am done with the Court." His teeth gritting as he started to feel annoyed. "Just what do you want from me?" His tone wasn’t friendly anymore. He wanted this done. "Stick to business." He demanded.
Dravin gulped the drink all at once and put the glass down with a thud before his fist break it to pieces from clenching tightly. "You know what? I really want to strangle you right now." He couldn’t hold back his anger. The coldness of the air-con inside did not help cooling his emotions down.
"Oh, trust me, brother. The feeling is mutual." He poured another drink to his wine glass. Suppressing the irritation bubbling inside him.
A bit of silence before one of them spoke again.
"I want for you to design this new hotel we’re building."
Zek’s glass stopped midway to his lips for a second before he gulped it all down and he settled it on the glass holder between them. "I can have someone make it and I’ll do the approval of the design." He said monotonously.
"No." Dravin disapproved instantly. "I said I want your design. You do it."
If only he hasn’t had enough on his plate. He would do it then. But he doesn’t have time for it. For any other things as of the moment. He had other priorities.
"My architect team already designed many of your buildings. So, why bother asking me personally for this one?"
"Why not? It’s a business request. And don’t tell me you that you don’t have time for it. You don’t have a luna yet to have an excessive excuse about your time. Unless you already had." Dravin’s eyes squinted at his direction. A short pause before he continued. "Have you found your mate?"
