Chapter 133

"Hello, Melisca. I’m here to be your awesome sidekick, okay?" Carmen raised her arms in a surrender gesture. "I’ve been asking for you to make me useful, but of course, you refused." She folded her arms, bubbling incessantly as if they were just discussing a minor situation. "I understand. I’m stubborn myself and—"

"—Just what can you be helpful for?" She cut her off. They were in a freaking time bomb, and this redhead kept on talking. She was being impatient as she had to get back inside to save more of her fellow monsters.

"Oh. Right." Carmen stepped to the side, out of the way of the black vortex. They could see nothing inside the circling hollow. It was just dark and bottomless. "Here. Get into this, and it would bring you to the tunnel behind this wall. Come on. Go on. Just follow the tunnel straight ahead, and you will be free."

All their eyes turned to Melisca for confirmation. Even she couldn’t believe what she’d just said. It was truly helpful and simple. But what if it was a trap? She remembered that Tyla was the one who caught the escapee a long time ago. And she had suspected that Carmen and Tyla had some sort of a connection. What if the two were playing with her? All was just a bait to capture her instead?

"You don’t believe me." Carmen sighed in annoyance as her shoulders slumped. Her aura changed. Gone was the light tone and atmosphere around her. "We don’t have time, and I don’t know how to prove it to you, okay?" She stepped closer to Melisca but remained in arm’s length. She didn’t want to touch her suit. It could contaminate her skin and make her lose her power.

Exactly. They don’t have time, but there they were, contemplating the opportunity. But too much was at risk if she’d trust a wrong person again this time. What she’d done would just be a waste, and she had risked too much already. Revealing her identity, not just to the hunters but to the supernaturals as well.

"You’re a faerie. A trickster." A vampire commented. That certainly didn’t help. But at least one of her curiosities was answered. "And you’re probably using a glamour to hide your true face."

"You’re a faerie?" Melisca, she repeated. Couldn’t believe it. But then she didn’t exactly understand how other supernaturals use their magics.

"Do you want to be saved or not? Because I’m wasting energy here by teleporting you to the other side." Carmen glanced around, and her gaze landed back on the hybrid wolf. "Lack of trust could also get you killed, you know?" She pointed a finger at her. "And not just yourself." She squinted her eyes at her.

"Go." Melisca instantly agreed. The other supernaturals looked at her with doubt. She doubted it as well, but it was their best bet since it was clear that they didn’t have their abilities yet to break the thick wall to get out. And she had to conserve and use her strength some more to free the others. And she had to do it freaking now. "All of you go. I’ll free the others."

"I got this side, Lorwey. Go do your thing." Carmen nodded, and Melisca sprinted back inside. Nesa still followed her but took a glance at the redhead before going in. Carmen wriggled her brows at her to proceed.

The supernaturals started stepping in. One by one they entered, and Carmen stayed at the side, not wanting to brush any of them. As they were walking through, she could feel herself weakening. Of course, teleporting herself didn’t take anything from her, but it wasn’t the same with the others, especially other supernaturals. She was also pouring power in it to make them get through the other side, or she could lose them in the vortex. It was a bottomless pit hollow inside. She just hoped that she could hold on long enough for the remaining ones that were still in their cells.

Melisca glanced at the Elven Prince, looking behind the window bar of his cell. But she sprinted past him; she went to the child witch first.

Kreena, the child, was standing on her chair looking at what was happening outside the cell. Her eyes were wide in fright. And it brought a surge of hurt seeing that she had no hair on her head anymore. No ribbons. That made Melisca clench her fist tightly as her jaw hardened. She would really kill them if they got in their way. They’d better not stop her from freeing anyone.

She stepped forward to the girl and tried to blink back the angry tears as she looked at her eyes through the helmet she was wearing. "Kreena, stand back. I’ll get you out, okay?" Her voice was a bit muffled inside, but the girl heard her.

Her eyes glowed with relief. "Okay." She jumped off her chair and positioned herself close to the side. "I’m ready!" Her sweet little voice exclaimed, clutching her teddy bear at hand.

Melisca gave it a punch in one go. Making it an outlet for the current emotions of what they did to the child and what she’d witnessed so far. The door was off to the side instantly, and a tiny body instantly hugged her suited figure. She fell on her knees in front of the girl and held her collar. In one yank, she broke it. They both winced. Melisca from seeing her skin with red burnt marks.

"Thank you." Kreena mumbled.

"You’ll be safe. I promise." She cupped the girl cheeks and Kreena nodded, smiling at her. The girl still had her Teddy that tugged more to her heart.

Child. She’s just a child.

Her anger bubbled up higher from what the hunters did. She stood up and turned to Nesa.

"Nesa, please get her out." She instructed the wolf. She had no time to waste as she heard the hunters barging inside from the door of the main entrance towards the supernatural room.

Nesa, without any delay, carried Kreena to be faster on their ran to the passage.

Melisca glanced at the two double doors up ahead with the glass wall that was dividing it from the rest of the cells. Her curiosity spiked what beings were inside.
