The Runaway Huntress -
Chapter 133 - 132
Chapter 133: Chapter 132
Chapter 132
The siren knocked and thumped on the glass of her aquarium to get their attention. She was nodding her head. Melisca wasn’t sure what that meant, but she hoped that she was answering her question.
It was a bit of work if she climbed on the tank to get her. "This would be a lot of water. Stand back!" She pushed Nesa to the side, and the woman stood closest to the wall.
Xyerin pulled her body away from the front glass by stroking her tail forward to get a distance from it.
Melisca covered her face with her arm before she threw her foot at the glass in one kick. Instantly, the water almost toppled her to the ground, but she braced herself from the surge. Water splashed all over the room, flooding the floor.
The siren was at the bottom of the glass and eyed Melisca. "Goddamn this collar!" She was trying to yank the electric collar on her own, but it wouldn’t work, of course.
Melisca blinked. The siren could talk like a human. And she even cursed like them. She shook her head; no time to be in awe of different beings.
"Let me." She said and stepped through the glasses to get to her. She was careful not to make the suit get any scratches from the sharp parts that were still intact at the side of the aquarium. She crouched beside her and moved her wine-red hair aside. Her scales were shining, a bit distracting actually.
"Thanks." Xyerin mumbled as she stared at the woman who broke her tank cage. She remembered that she was the one standing outside her cell last week. She thought that she was human, even until now, for she can’t feel any supernatural vibe in her. So, she was entirely shocked that she was as strong as the others. She could only think of one thing.
"Not yet." Melisca answered. Her voice was thick but soothing. It was as if she was singing when she spoke.
"You’re a hybrid." She almost whispered, but she knew Melisca heard it as the woman eyed her but didn’t say anything.
In one tug, the collar was off. "We had to get you out of here." She had no other way, as Nesa wouldn’t be strong enough to carry the woman. And yes, she was a bit bothered that the siren had figured out what she was, but there wasn’t any time to ponder about it.
Xyerin tried to transform into a human, but she couldn’t. She bit her lip as she couldn’t get away by her tail. She was still under the influence of ABD, as she’d heard the hunters say when they strutted outside their cells and when some of them visited her to examine her scales and get a blood sample from her. She was powerless from their chemicals and weapons. The collar was what she hated the most. In just one wrong move of hers in the water, she’d get hurt as fuck. Her neck was bleeding, and her body would spasm in the water.
"Come on." Melisca put one hand behind the siren’s tail and the other to her waist. She hoisted her up quickly. She was quite heavy; the tail was. The woman held onto her nape. "Get a blanket!" She shouted at Nesa.
Nesa ran out of the room and got inside her former cell and grabbed a blanket. Melisca was already sprinting, and she followed her out of the room. She had to carry her to the other supernaturals waiting outside at the wall. The other supernaturals who were still in their cells shouted for them.
"We’ll be back!" Nesa announced behind her.
"I’m sorry." Xyerin uttered as her teeth were gritting in rage. She didn’t want to be a burden to her savior, but there was nothing she could do. Crawling on her own was never an option. She might as well just be left behind.
"No problem." Melisca answered. She understood how it felt to be helpless. So, it wasn’t a problem for her to carry her.
She was losing her breath when they reached the dark corridor. "Get her." She hissed to any of the men that were standing. Nesa covered her upper body with a blanket. They were all stunned to see her carrying a half-human and half-fish. "Get her, or I’ll kill you all right here." She warned all of them, especially the men.
One stepped forward and snaked his arms around her body to get the siren off her. Melisca wasn’t sure what the male was; he doesn’t look like a vampire. But he doesn’t smell like a wolf, either. All that mattered was that he was willing to take Xyerin.
"I’m just shocked to actually see a mermaid." The one who volunteered uttered in disbelief.
"I’m a siren, wolf." Xyerin corrected him as she curled her arm around his nape. She didn’t want to be hostile to the people who tried to help her.
"Gargoyle, not a wolf." He retorted. "It’s good then that I’m not fond of fish."
So, he’s from another shifter race. How many could there be?
"Melisca, let’s go!" Nesa grabbed her hand and shoved back to her the gun and her knife that she was carrying. She was about to turn around when a voice shrieked.
"Get away from me!"
Everyone flinched and jumped back from the wall that they were about to destroy to get out to the other side. A black vortex suddenly appeared, and a woman stepped out of it. "Keep your distance. Don’t contaminate me!" She exclaimed in a snotty tone as she waved her hands to make the closest supernaturals step back.
Some growled at her, but she didn’t even spare them a glance. She tilted her head up to search for the person she was there for.
"Melisca!" She called, seeing her at the very back, nearest to the entrance with the bright light coming from it.
Melisca knew that voice. But why is she here? How—Why—What—
And she was using magic. It could only be magic. She was right all along that Carmen was something else.
She didn’t know how to react exactly. Is she a friend or a foe? She didn’t have time for an extra intermission in her mission to save the supernaturals in distress.
