Chapter 131

Lawrenz picked up his phone and answered the call. He and his daughter were trekking the stairs to get above ground. They were almost at the door to the top when his phone rang.

"What?! I’ll be there!" He cursed and shut the phone. He grabbed Loriena’s forearm to get her entire attention. "Listen, Loriena, you get out that door and close it behind you. Go to your room and lock yourself in there. Do you understand?"

She blinked. She heard what the call was about. There was a monster on the loose. A supernatural infiltrated the camp. She nodded at her father.

"Now, go. I’m going back to help them." Without another word, Lawrenz left his daughter in the dark with only a flashlight in her hand. He had his phone’s light anyway.

Loriena followed the running figure of her father by gaze. His footsteps echoing in the dark spiral staircase. She shivered as she’d just realized that she was left all alone in the dark. She looked up at the door that her father wanted her to get into.

He was right. She would be safe beyond the door. She’d be out of all the dangers in the camp. But she didn’t want to leave the place yet. She knew her stubbornness could kill her. But she had unfinished business. She wanted to protect someone that she owed her life to.

Melisca successfully rammed the door out of her way. She stumbled on it as dusk and dirt got inside the room as well when the door fell on the floor. She had given it an extra strength in the last shove that she fell along with it. She stood up and blinked at the brightness of the room. She looked up, and yep, the fluorescent lights were working just fine.

How the heck—what the—

She scanned her eyes around. The entire space was narrower, and there was not any cell or supernatural inside. Instead, it was safety protective suits, helmets with gas masks, and gloves.

What great luck! She was in the prep room. The white walls contrasted with the stark blackness of the corridor she came from.

She immediately pulled on one of the suits and shimmied inside it. It was a bit harder as she didn’t want to take off any of her attire. It took her a lot of time as blares of alarm echoed in the room that made her wince from the sharp noise. Her freaking ears could be bleeding from it.

"Damn it!" She was now wearing gloves and a helmet with a gas mask. She didn’t wear the boots provided. Her boots would work just fine. The suit reached past her ankle boots anyway.

After everything, she jumped higher than humans can and punched the blaring red light. The sound died as she smashed it. She landed easily back on the ground and started to pick up her gun and the dagger that she lay on the floor. It was a bit hard to control the weapons because the gloves were slick and smooth. It was uncomfortable. But she got to follow the standard suit uniform. Well, except for her boots. As always.

She pushed the door open, and there was no one outside the Supernatural Room yet. But she could hear the people at the other door going frantic from the alarm. She quickly worked on her strength again to open the door of her third destination. She punched the side of the door to create a dent and insert her fingers. Her knuckles hurt, of course. It was a metal door, and a thick one!

Her teeth gritted as she felt hot inside the suit. She gave it one last punch, and it finally gave her an opening for her hands. She pushed the metal door and shoved it to the side to make it slide as it usually worked. The blare of alarms was louder when she successfully opened the door wide. With no time to spare even a second, she immediately stopped in front of Nesa’s cell.

"Stand back!" She exclaimed and kicked the door. She had to do it twice before it dropped on the marbled floor.

The other supernaturals in the area were holding the bars on their door and watching her.

"Melisca." Nesa’s stunned face was one of relief, and the woman could have cried.

No. They were not free yet. Far from it. She shouldn’t look at her like that. She hadn’t gotten her out—them out. Yet. She approached the woman and gripped her collar. She held them in both hands from both sides and yanked the metal free. She could feel the slight electricity from it as Nesa winced. She tugged harder, and it broke finally. The pieces of metal were in both of her hands, and she threw them on the floor.

She knew that she was still in ABD. Nesa wouldn’t be able to help her open the other doors. But she would do what she could. Try to free as many as she could. She ran out of Nesa’s cell and stopped at the next one. The others called for her to free them. She didn’t pay them attention and focused on opening cells to cells and breaking the collars. The ones she’d freed were following to help her.

"Listen! You all get out of here so you wouldn’t be contaminated with ABD anymore, and you’d be able to get your strength." She announced. She had to make use of them somehow. She needed extra forces to open the wall outside the passage. Exhaustion was coping up with her for using it continuously. She instructed them about the wall that they had to open to get to the tunnel.

She had to risk trusting the words of the suspicious woman. But Tyla was right about the door to the prep room. Though she didn’t elaborate it further that it was the prep room she’d be barging to, not directly the Supernatural Room. She couldn’t complain about that as it gave her the advantage of keeping her abilities.

The supernaturals she’d freed so far, nodded and went outside. Nesa remained in the room. And Melisca didn’t want to argue anymore as that was the other wolf’s decision. She was now at the cell of the siren. She kicked it open. The loud sound echoed through the walls of the room. It was really getting hot in her costume. She wanted to brush the sweat that was trickling down her brows, stinging her eyes. She shook her head to somehow blink the blur away.

The door flew to the side as the siren eyed her with curiosity. She snapped her head to Nesa. She shouted at her through the noise of the alarm. "Can she breathe outside water?" She had forgotten that information.

Nesa’s eyes widened in her question. Then shook her head. "I don’t know."
