Chapter 122

All the attention turned to him. Many was about to open their mouths, especially Aradria who stared menacingly at him, but he held up a hand to not interrupt his next words. His eyes never left the Coven Queen’s turquoise eyes. It was the color of the deeper part of the ocean.

"But as you said, Queen Aradria, you don’t do those kinds of tricks." The gaze she was throwing at him was full of daggers. And there was an inkling inside him that wanted to believe that witches could really kill just by a stare. She had the look of a school mean professor that would punish her student even just for the slightest mistake. "I’m not insinuating anything." He raised his arms in surrender. "I was just merely stating a thought."

Aradria was ready to open her mouth when she got interrupted again.

"You may have not done it yourself, Your Coven Majesty." The fae added more fuel into the fire. Just what she needed. "But what about your subjects? Do you have control in all of them?"

She stood up and faced his direction at the end of the row, nearest to the doors. "Can someone really have total control in everything?" Then she turned to glance at every leader in their seats. "The Coven had been in peace in the past years. And I would like to maintain that under my ruling." Her eyes glanced back to the shifter kings, Ezekiel and Bryar. "But I understand your concerns. Be at ease. I would investigate this matter with my people. I won’t tolerate such disastrous activity."

Then she sat down with an exasperated breath. She ran a hand through her face. She was also careful not to exude any more toxic smoke from her fingers. Anyone who got a whiff from it would be in pain.

"Thank you for addressing our concerns, Coven Queen." Bryar was on his feet, and he bowed like a total gentleman. "You have such a broad mind. That’s a remarkable trait in being their new leader."

Aradria raised her eyes at him. The Gargoyle king smirked at her. She wasn’t sure if it was a compliment or an insult. But she really wanted to make him suffer from his spot. And if she did that, it would just mean the opposite of what he said. She restrained herself from responding to that. He sat back again, swiping his cape to the side. He had the same physique as the Wolf King beside him. But his hair was longer. It was braided to the sides of his shoulders. He had a tribal earring in his left ear. It was in the shape of a curled fang. He had a fur coat as a cape that reaches to the back of his knees. His men stood behind him with a spear as their weapon.

She hated to admit that he had such a striking face that she wanted to ruin and wouldn’t even feel sorry about it.

"Wolf King." Raindel called Zek’s attention. He even stood up and bowed at him. "If you would let me, please, I would like to offer my assistance in creating the cure."

Zek opened his palm to his right. Drasco handed the vial to him. He pulled himself up from the throne seat.

"I would entrust this to King Raindel of the Elven Kingdom." Zek raised his hand for everyone to see the tiny bottle. They all nodded their heads in approval.

King Raindel and Ezekiel moved to the center aisle, and he handed over the vial of Anti-Superno.

"Be careful with it, King Raindel. We’re not certain yet if the elves’ healing capabilities could ponder their effects. Don’t even let it get to your skin. That would be the dumbest way to die."

"Of course, Wolf King." The elf did a graceful bow and accepted the vial. "And please tell me if the witch you tasked with the antidote already finished it. Then we would help with the reproduction."

"I’ll make sure to do so, Elven King."

They wrapped everything, and everyone bid their goodbyes. The vampire royals offered them food, but they refused. They just wanted to have their sleep, as some of them were not creatures of the night.

Zek stayed to talk to his brother. He ordered Gunther to get the blueprint they left at the car.

"Ezekiel." Queen Estrella called and stepped down the platform with Drendall to her side. Karlyle and Dravin were on their feet also, but they faced each other in a conversation.

Servants moved around to clear away the throne seats that were used. They also started cleaning and tucking everything. Rolling the extra draperies by the windows and tapestries that were hanged by the walls.

Drasco stayed behind him closely. He can feel the uneasiness in him of being surrounded by pureblood vampires. He turned to him. "Wait for me outside, Drasco." He ordered.

"But, Alpha."

"Are you hungry?" Drendall asked him. That made Drasco’s eyes widen in surprise. His mother and sister were already in front of them.

"No. I’m fine, Your Highness." Drasco responded with a polite nod. "Thank you for asking."

"We had normal food in the kitchen." Drendall insisted. "For occasions like this."

"He’s fine, Drendall. Go, Drasco." He tilted his head to the side to glance behind him. "Wait for me by the car. And tell Gunther that I’ll have a vampire bring me the blueprint. You two stay there until I get back."

Drasco bowed his head. "Yes, Alpha." He retreated and went out the door.

Drendall pouted her lips in dismay. She liked having guests and was interested to know more about their nature.

"Stepmother." He called and kissed the queen’s hand for a sign of respect to a parent.

She gave him a sharp look. "Just ’mother’ or I’ll smack your head." The queen wasn’t one to joke. She would actually do it.

That made him smile. She always insisted on it but he was hesitant because he would never forget his real mother who died centuries ago.

Estrella waved her hand when Zek let go of it. "But it’s fine. I totally get it." There was a hint of hurt in her eyes but she tried to make light of the situation. For how young they all appeared, no one would guess that they were already centuries old.

He didn’t know how what to respond to that. She did her best to make him feel like he was also her son by blood. And he was truly grateful that she wasn’t like any other usual stepmother that would strange him from the family.

"You should stay for at least a day or two. We miss you. How have you been?"

"We are so worried about you when Laia spilled what happened to her in your country." Drendall joined the conversation.

"What happened that you made her confess?" He ignored their earlier words. He was curious why she admitted it.
