Chapter 122: Chapter 121

Chapter 121

Dravin stood up. "Let me—"

"Sit." Karlyle demanded as he turned to his son beside him. "Down."

Dravin was ready to open his mouth but thought otherwise as Karlyle’s eyes were ready to turn. He just exhaled a breath, then couldn’t do anything. He understood that his older brother didn’t want to show his vampire side to their father. He knew he hated him to the core. And he never got to know why, as Zek wouldn’t tell it.

Ezekiel’s eyes turned into orange fire with rage inside him. He gave his father a look of utter hatred. And the king stared straight at him with a hint of a smile.

Goddamn you!

How he wanted to curse at him in front of all these people. But he bit his lower lip instead to not let his mouth lose the expletives.

Queen Estrella didn’t want to stretch the tension anymore. "May I—" She was about to rise to her feet, but Karlyle held her hand.

"He can do it, Estrella." He gave her a strained smile with a warning in his eyes. "He’s my son." He proudly announced and looked back to his guests.

Drendall tried to catch her father’s attention. "But, father, he’s here as the leader of the Moon Empire." She whispered, but most could hear it.

Ezekiel turned around sharply and moved closer to the woman. His jaw was ticking, and his fists were clenching hard beside him. The keepers pulled the woman up. One tugged her hair to make her meet his gaze. She went berserk and pushed the men’s hands from her. She managed to throw one of them. Before she can cause any more tantrums, Zek lifted his hand and held her by the throat. That made her look at his face, straight into his eyes.

Her crimson red to his orange lava with a hint of a crescent shape in his pupils. The woman’s movement came to a halt. Her hands that were holding his forearms to get free slackened and fell to her sides. Her eyes dilated.

"Submit." Zek’s voice was an absolute command. An invisible barrier that smashed down with impossible force. "Tome." There was no fighting it. Once he set his will, the victim’s only escape was through him only. To follow his words.

Gunther and Drasco had their heads bowed even if the words weren’t meant for them. The other people around felt uneasy with Ezekiel’s aura as he showed his presence of being an alpha and compulsion as a royal vampire.

The woman stayed still and stood calmly before him, blinking in a daze. "Hands off her." The keepers jolted their hands away from the woman, and they stepped behind her. Zek released his grip on her neck. He didn’t feel the coldness of her skin because of the gloves that he was wearing paired with his outfit.

"Don’tmove. Andnotasingleword

." He added, and she stood like a statue.

Karlyle smirked at what he was seeing. His son never failed to amaze him. The only thing he was against was him preferring to lead the wolves instead of taking his throne that he wanted to pass down to him since ages ago.

The audience stared in awe at the Wolf King. They nodded their heads unconsciously in appreciation. It was known that once someone had gone rogue, they were beyond any power to be controlled. But Ezekiel just proved himself that there was no one uncontrollable for him. He can even tame madness.

Karlyle’s face lit up with pride for his son. And he was glad that he kept him alive. It was all worth it, seeing him as one of the most powerful of all supernaturals. Though being a hybrid wasn’t really accepted in their world because it usually turned into chaos. The Grim War was the proof of it.

Zek turned back to the table to extricate the syringe from its case. He uncapped the lid of the needle and took two strides to get back to the woman’s side. Without further ado, he injected it into the side of her neck, and he stepped away.

In a moment, the woman’s eyes turned to normal, gone the color of blood in them. She was freed from the compulsion. Gasping for air, her face contorting in pain as she held a hand to her heart.

"H-help me." She managed to utter, extending her hand out to reach for someone, but she didn’t make a step. She fell on her knees, trying to breathe.

It was their turn to be in shock as she spoke. A rogue wouldn’t be able to open their mouth, except to bite and tear someone with their teeth. To kill was the only thing they could think of and what they would do. So, before they ran amok, they were captured to be killed by their authorities.

She propped a hand to the floor to support her body. But her strength was quickly draining. "Can’t... breathe." She grunted repeatedly. "Blood... Human blood."

Everyone stood up from their seats and cautiously moved closer to the aisle, to the vampire that was now lying on her side on the floor.

While witnessing the woman’s reaction to the hunters’ poison, his own breath was hitching. As her heartbeat slowed down, his was pounding achingly fast.

So, this is how my people suffered from it.

It was painful for him to imagine his men on duty and innocent people lost their lives without even a chance to survive when it entered their veins.

Her puffs of air sounded painful to his ears. She was now crawling and had gotten even paler. In just a few seconds, she lay on her back, and she drew her last breath. Her eyes turned black as it lost its life.

Silence enveloped the entire room for almost a minute. As if they all just remembered to breathe, they sucked in an air sharply. Then everyone looked at each other.

Zek stepped closer to the woman and checked her pulse for double inspection. She was really dead.

"Take her away." Karlyle ordered and waved a hand for the keepers carried the lifeless body out of sight. They all returned to their seats with heavy footsteps.

Bryar sighed and eyed the witch queen who was dressed in all black and she had a veil that goes through her bare shoulders. She looked like an emo bride with a funeral theme for the wedding. Her auburn hair and pearlescent fair skin were a great contrast of what she was wearing and the black smoke that kept excreting out of her fingers. "If I didn’t know any better, what the humans formulated could very well passed as a witch’s creation."
