Chapter 110: Chapter 109
Chapter 109
Melisca was pushed back a step. Her grip tightened on the tray. She was thankful that the food didn’t get thrown on the floor. Only that her chocolate drink fell because it was at the edge of the tray. But the lid was still securely closed.
She watched the woman’s hand that touched her shoulder. If only she hadn’t been holding the tray of her dinner, she could have broken her wrist. But she wasn’t one to waste food.
"You think you’re all high and mighty just because you reached the top quickly?" The girl continued to spat and attempted to shove her again, but a hand caught her wrist.
"Of course, she is because she actually did it!" Lorna exclaimed and pushed the woman away with all her might so that her ass hit the floor.
Melisca actually saw her coming. That’s why she didn’t bother to fight as well. She noticed how enraged Lorna was when she approached and let her do the fighting back. Her hands were busy. And she wouldn’t want to put her food on anyone’s table. They could put something on it while she was busy.
"Fiona!" Exclaimed by the girls who quickly stood up from the table she was about to occupy earlier. They helped the blonde girl.
"Who are you to even fight her? She could easily break your bones, you know." Lorna was far from being done. She felt like letting her frustration out on the woman, who should be to the redhead who was smiling at the entrance of the cafeteria.
Melisca caught a glimpse of Carmen too, and the woman seemed to enjoy what’s happening. Then, as if she just realized that she was having fun for the wrong situation, she straightened her face and looked away.
"You’re out of this, spoiled brat!" One of the girls came forward and attempted to attack Lorna, but she was held back by her friends.
"Stop it already! You shouldn’t mess with the committee’s daughter."
"Hmp!" She waved off the hands that were stopping her but didn’t attempt to step forward to Lorna anymore. "She’s just playing around because of her parents." She threw Lorna a disdainful look. "She’s nothing without them." Then her eyes switched to Melisca. "And Lorwey could just be her bodyguard, but surprisingly, she’s hiding behind the kitten."
More and more people started to look in their direction, and some even came closer to witness the scene properly. It’s a huge cafeteria after all.
Melisca’s eyes shut close as she wanted to get out of the scene. Couldn’t she just eat her dinner without any scandal?
"Oh, really?" Lorna responded like a mean girl from chick flick movies. She was all ready to pounce on the girl. "In case you have forgotten, kittens have sharp claws!" She was about to step forward to the girl but was held back by the force that was gripping her collar and almost choking her throat. "Aw!" She sprang back on her spot and looked at who pulled her by the nape.
Melisca quickly held the tray with one hand and grabbed Lorna’s shirt to stop the girl from getting aggressive physically. "I told you not to get in trouble for me." She reprimanded her with a warning. Lorna glared at her. She let go of the woman’s cloth and pushed to her the food tray. "Hold this and pick up my chocolate drink on the floor."
Lorna was confused for a moment, but she automatically accepted the tray, and Liz walked past her too quickly.
Melisca reached for the two girls’ necks. The blonde who she bumped earlier and the other who fueled the trouble. Everyone gasped from what she did, but she had to give them something so they wouldn’t dare anymore next time. She was gripping their throats too tightly. Their friends wanted to step up, but before they could, she threw them a sharp look, and they instantly retreated.
The girls were clawing at her hands, but their strength was nothing compared to hers. "This is just a warning. Next time, I won’t hesitate to break any part of your body that I could hold." She was looking at them one by one. "It’s not a threat. It’s a swear."
Then she let go of them as she could hear some trainers coming their way by their voices, wanting to get through the crowd that had gathered around.
"Lorwey! Loriena!" It was Lawrenz who barged in from the people, with Gea by his side.
"Scat away, everyone! Scat!" Gea shooed the trainees away. "Mind your own business! This isn’t high school!" The crowd immediately scampered away.
Lawrenz went straight in front of them. "What were you two thinking?!" His hands were waving in anger. "Especially you, Lorwey." He looked at her with disappointment as he shook his head. "Threatening other trainees wouldn’t be tolerated here."
Melisca met his gaze. "It wasn’t a threat." There was no ounce of regret in her. "I don’t bluff." Never in those kinds of situations. Her head was held high in stating that fact.
The man’s eyes widened in surprise at her retort. He was shaking his head in disbelief and took a deep breath.
"It’s my fault—" Lorna butted in, but Lawrenz gestured for her to shut her mouth.
He was obviously fuming inside at Melisca’s attitude. "You know what, Lorwey, you have excellent skills. But you’re here in our training camp. You had to adhere to the rules of not harming anyone here despite their positions. And learn to respect your superiors. We all noticed you lacked that attitude."
"Dad!" Lorna exclaimed and stepped between Melisca and him. "Melisca did it because those girls insulted us! You didn’t even know what happened exactly."
"And it seemed like you’re being more and more disrespectful too, Loriena."
Melisca noticed that Loriena wasn’t holding her tray of food anymore. She looked around and found it on the nearest table just few steps away from them. She was relieved that no one was sitting there. But her chocolate drink was still missing. She scanned the floor and found that it rolled under the same table. She exhaled another sigh of relief.
She turned her attention to the father and daughter’s argument. "Just put the blame on me. I wanted to have my dinner now." She said to him.
Lawrenz looked at her with a resigned gaze. "You’ve got a warning, Lorwey. Watch out of your behavior."
"Punish those girls too." Lorna pressed the matter.
"Fine. I’ll watch it in the CCTV."’ Lawrenz replied as he shook his head and turned to Gea who was silently listening at the side. "Take care of those girls." Gea only nodded and Lawrenz return his attention to his daughter. "You’re grounded here. You’re not allowed to go out anymore on Sundays." Then he walked out on them. Gea followed behind.
Lorna’s mouth fell open. She can only look at his retreating figure.
Melisca shrugged her shoulders at that and started to move. She squatted down to reach for her drink under the table and stood up straight when she had it on hand.
"I’ll go order something." Lorna said and went to the counter.
She pulled a chair and sat herself down. She started on her food then. She was already halfway through when Lorna returned.
Lorna wasn’t surprised anymore that Liz was about to be finished. But it seemed like she was in a hurry.
"Are you up for something?" She asked.
"Yeah. Josh called for me after dinner."
"You know what it’s about?" Lorna started picking her food.
"Not sure." She doesn’t want to get her hopes up, but she was still expecting for it.
In just a few more minutes, Melisca was done and she left Lorna on the table.
She almost ran to Josh’s office but reminded herself to stay cool. She knocked on the door and within a minute a voice called out.
"Come in, Lorwey." Josh already knew who was outside. He was expecting for her.
Melisca noticed that there was also a card scanner at the side. But she doubted if she had access to it. She raised her hand to hold a knob but there was nothing to hold on to. Then in a second, the door slid open itself. She got herself in and the door remained open behind her.
As if in target lock, her eyes immediately saw her laptop on the table. She bit her inner cheeks to restrain a smile that was about to burst on her face. Act cool, Melisca. Act cool. She reminded herself. And she even had to be conscious on her steps because maybe she may skip while approaching the man behind the table.
"Melisca, I heard there was a commotion in the cafeteria." Josh’s face was grim.
Then her excitement died down. She was having the thought of maybe he would change his decision for what happened. If he did, she would certainly find a way to kill those two for sabotaging her chances and a crucial help for her plans.
