Chapter 108

Carmen was a bit taken aback by the girl’s straightforwardness. "Why not?" She didn’t see anything wrong with it, but Lorna kept contradicting her being friendly.

"I just have this eerie feeling towards you. You make me uncomfortable."

She chuckled at Lorna’s response. "You’re just paranoid that I might steal your only friend here since you don’t have as much, or any, I think."

Lorna stopped in her tracks and glared at the woman. But she kept on laughing at her face. Her fists clenched in anger.

Carmen hurried on her footsteps and gave Lorna an eye roll and a smirk before continuing her way. She knew she might have hit the spot, but she could only wish that she cared about it. Because she fucking doesn’t give any shit.

How Lorna wanted to pull that red-haired woman. She had a slight thought before that maybe she could get used to her with Liz. But then it all crashed to the ground as the woman said those words. It was kind of brutal for her.

Her breathing quickened as she just followed her with a daggered look. She wished she could shoot lasers through her eyes. Her heart pounded loudly in anger. She didn’t just dislike her. It was now an official hate.

She’d lost her appetite to eat, so she decided to return to her own room and rest there to calm herself before she could throw a tantrum.

Hours later, Melisca’s eyes fluttered open, and she gradually turned on her back. She didn’t know how she slept in that position since she couldn’t breathe properly because of her crushed chests, but she was thankful that she was alive. She helped herself up and instantly felt the pounding of her head.

"Ugh." She grunted from the strange pain. Damn it. Am I having a hangover now? Her eyes clenched shut, and she put her foot down on the floor. Then she blinked when the door opened. Her roommates started to enter.

She turned her head to look at the wall clock above the bathroom door. It was five minutes past 5:00 pm. Then she felt an uncomfortable rumbling in her stomach. She’s starving. Of course, she barely had breakfast, and she slept through lunch. Her tummy soldiers were begging for food.

She stayed still in her spot and breathed evenly. Waiting for the pounding of her head to subside, hoping it does sooner.

"Are you okay, Liz?" Some of the girls asked. They’ve been friendly to her when she had proven herself to everyone that she was more than capable of what they’d thought of her than the first day she arrived.

She nodded in response. Not really giving them equal friendliness. She wasn’t there to gather sisterhood.

Then she proceeded to untie her boots to change outfits to have dinner. She was eager to eat a damn truck in her hunger. She stood up to change clothes inside the curtain. After unbuttoning her uniform, she slowed down her movements, and her breath was caught up in her lungs as she carefully took off the cloth down her arms.

She was dreading seeing if the tattoo was still there or not. She took a peek in anticipation and noticed that the snake’s head was still there and the two vertical lines. Then she pushed down the coat. She sighed in complete relief. She’d worry later why it stuck in her skin. She now quickly changed into more casual clothes, in a sweatshirt and pants. She was uncomfortable displaying her new tattoo. It may vanish anytime. And she wouldn’t want anyone witnessing it.

The only relief she had was that she could always hide it from everyone because of their uniform and, of course, the clothes of her choice.

"Melisca!" Carmen exclaimed the moment she entered the dorm, and some of the girls pointed to where the woman was. She nodded at them. "Thanks." She proceeded to Melisca’s bed area and waited for her to come out. She only waited for a minute, and the woman stepped out from the dressing curtain.

"What’s up?" Her expression was of impatience.

"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Carmen’s snarky reply, as she tilted her head to the side.

Melisca hung her uniform back inside the cabinet, not responding to her. When she turned around, she met a raised eyebrow. She was waiting for what the redhead wanted to say to her.

"Josh said you come to his office after dinner. That’s all." Then Carmen twirled around immediately. She hadn’t even waited for Melisca’s response. She’d gone inside the bathroom.

Melisca was left standing in confusion for what it was about. She can still feel a slight headache. For now, she doesn’t want to think of anything else yet. She just recovered from her anxiousness, but then it instantly returned as she remembered what it could be about. It was having a laptop.

She went out hurriedly to finish dinner in no time. She had to know their decision immediately so she could start on having a plan or any other alternatives if she couldn’t have access to their system to sabotage their technology. It would be a crucial help to succeed more confidently.

She entered the cafeteria. Stares and catcalling erupted when she passed by the tables. She was used to it and remained a snob. Some gave up seeking her attention. She wasn’t there to be a queen bee. But she automatically had that spot just by her beauty, and added to that, when everyone witnessed her skills. And she used that attribute to skip the line as men willingly gave their turn to her. She gave them a charming smile in return. It wouldn’t hurt her to just curve her lips a little.

Melisca always chose the table nearest to the wall but now, she was in a hurry so she skipped the extra minutes of going to a far corner. She walked to the nearest vacant table she found. And it was a few distance away from the exit. "Perfect."

With a tray on hand, she headed straight to it when she was just a few steps away, a group of girls instantly claimed the table, pulling the chairs and sat on them. They raised their eyebrows at her.

She sighed heavily and rolled her eyes at them. No, she wouldn’t lose her cool over that childish act. She was about to turn away but one of them called her out.

"You can actually sit with us, Lorwey."

She looked at her and to the rest of the group. "No, thanks. You’re out of my league." She gave them a taunting smile before giving her back at them.

But then again, when she turned, she bumped into someone—scratch that, it was her food tray who crashed into that person.

"Gosh!" Exclaimed by the girl who she accidentally bumped to. She pushed Melisca’s shoulder angrily. "Watch where you’re going! Not everyone would give way to you!"
