Chapter 106
Carmen released a nervous breath when she finally entered the restroom. She went inside a cubicle immediately and thought of a black vortex. It instantly appeared and stepped into it. She teleported to another restroom, nearest to the room that Tyla took Melisca.
She waited right at the door in the restroom entrance, where Melisca would be passing by. She couldn’t let the camera catch even just a glimpse of her because she wasn’t supposed to be seen outside the arena. It was still training time.
She was there for a few more minutes, getting agitated as someone—anyone of the staff—could get inside, and she had to hide.
Finally, Melisca and Tyla were done with the session. Tyla soaked all the bloodied tissues with water in the sink before throwing them in the trash can. In that way, it wouldn’t be useful for any tests.
Melisca was relieved that the woman seemed to understand her dilemma. It only added to her being suspicious.
"Do you have any mirror here? I wanted to see it properly." She can already see how nicely done it was, but she wanted to view it from others’ perspectives.
"No." Tyla said and wiped her hand with a hand towel. "You can check it in the restroom just a few doors outside."
"Okay. I’ll do that." She stood up, feeling a bit sore from staying still on a seat and the injected needle. It felt like thousands of ants bit her skin. But it was bearable.
She didn’t bother to pull up her uniform yet.
"Avoid moving that too much for a few hours. You can relax in your room." Tyla instructed and arranged everything back on the shelf. She snatched the bottle which Melisca bottomed down before the session and tossed it into the trashcan.
Melisca nodded and went to the door. "Thanks." She mumbled and turned the knob.
"Melisca."
She tilted her head to look back at the woman with a raised eyebrow.
Tyla eyed her with a warning. "Be careful with that chip in your arm." It could explode anytime when the organization’s eyes picked up your schemes. Melisca didn’t know that and she doesn’t want to tell her. It would only make her anxious. But she had already taken care of it. She needed Melisca alive until the very end.
Melisca nodded as her jaw ticked. She proceeded going out and was greeted by a lonely hall.
As she walked to the restroom, her mind was occupied with thoughts of how her body would respond to the inserted foreign object in her skin. Would it destroy the object? Eject it when the healing process began? Maybe just like bullets, she had to dig it out so it would start to heal.
She shook her head. For now, worry wasn’t really the focus in her mind as she was feeling sleepy from the alcohol. It really did affect her. And now that she was on her feet, she could feel the slight dizziness. That must be so strong as it succeeded in making her drunk in just one bottle.
When she turned the corner to the restroom, she was a bit surprised upon seeing Carmen there.
"You’re drunk." Carmen could smell it even from a distance. "Why are you drunk?"
Melisca did not answer her and headed straight to the mirror at the sink. She stared at her shoulder. The tattoo was still there. She pushed her head closer to the mirror and squinted her eyes, staring at the viper’s eyes. "It’s really cool." She mused in amazement.
Carmen, though in a confused look, still responded. "Yeah. They look great." She was standing beside Melisca. "But it would be much cooler if I did this." She held her forearm strongly so the woman couldn’t pull it back. She propped a hand above Melisca’s shoulder and slid it gradually to the tattoo’s surface. The woman just watched as her hand glided down below the drawing. Then she released her hold on her and stepped back. "See?"
Melisca didn’t know what really happened, but the moment Carmen’s hand touched her skin, it felt soothing and warm at the same time. As she looked at it again in the mirror, it looked like it came to life. It was more vibrant. She nodded her head in approval. "You’re right. I like it better." If she was only seeing things because she was drunk, well, she doesn’t care anymore. "What did you put?" She didn’t notice Carmen putting on some gel on her hand first before touching her skin. And she felt all better. She could barely feel the soreness. It seemed like there was also a healing effect on it.
"It’s confidential." Carmen made a gesture of her index finger against her lips and winked at her. "Go. I think you need a sleep. You might have a hangover when you wake up."
"Thanks. But wait, how did you get here? You weren’t supposed to—" Melisca just came to realize that Carmen shouldn’t be there, for the training wasn’t done yet. And a lunch break was still an hour away.
Carmen pushed Melisca out of the restroom. "I know. Just don’t tell anyone that you saw me here." Then she closed the door on her face.
Despite being drunk, she still had her senses with her. And her questioning thoughts emerged. The Carmen she thought she knew was righteous and wasn’t a rule breaker. But now, she broke a rule by sneaking out of the training room just to see her. That was weird. And another thing, how did she do it?
She took a deep breath. She can smell the alcohol in herself. Her eyelids were getting heavy so she started on her way back to the dorm but not before fixing her uniform and buttoned them closed. And she didn’t mind changing clothes when she reached her dorm. She just plopped on the bed even with her boots on. She fell asleep immediately.
Carmen succeeded and she teleported to the restroom inside the arena. When she went out, she was thankful that the elven prince was being led back to the tunnel. She was walking back to the benches and her friends greeted her, asking what took her so long. She didn’t notice that the prince turned his head to the side and looked at her direction before he entered the door with the escorts.

Ezekiel was thrumming his fingers on his desk as he sat agitated. It was already a week since she asked the witch. And she told him that she still needed a little more time. Each day that ends, it was making him more anxious and worried for his people, especially Melisca. She was in the hunter’s den. And he couldn’t do anything about it for now.
He stood up when he heard a helicopter that was about to land on his mansion’s helipad. He sprinted towards the rooftop in just a few seconds to greet his guest. It was already afternoon. And this is the first time that he decided to brought a guest to his mountaintop mansion. Usually, it was only his officers and few people to maintain everything.
But the person he welcomed in his private place was an important one. The helicopter stopped and just a few seconds, it opened. A silver-haired man, just about the same young looking as him but standing an inch taller, stepped down the chopper as he took off his sunglasses.
