Chapter 101: Chapter 100

Chapter 100

Melisca turned around and looked at what the woman was referring to. She took a glimpse through the barred window. And there she saw a gleaming face with sharp features, sitting calmly at the edge of the bed, facing them. His eyes were closed though, and he was so still that he looked like a mannequin. He doesn’t even look like he was breathing.

His pointed ears tucked the silvery hair behind that reached just below his shoulders. He had a sharp jaw, a narrow nose, thin lips, high cheekbones, and flawless, glowing skin for a man. He’s obviously tall just by looking at his long legs. He had a lean figure.

On his forehead, there was a golden circlet that intertwined like vines and ran along to the back of his head. He looked totally majestic and elegant. His face was serene and calm. He could be sleeping, for he remained unmoving for the past few minutes.

"That’s our elven prince."

Her head snapped instantly to the woman beside her. "He’s a prince?"

"Can’t you tell by the color of his circlet? That’s like their crown. And it wouldn’t come off no matter what unless he removed it himself."

"How did you get him?" She was curious, for elves lived far from human civilization. They stay deep in the forest because their features are too remarkable.

"The white hunters did. And I don’t know how they got him. I only heard that he strayed far out of the forest. That’s why he got caught, maybe." Tyla shrugged her shoulders. "Faeries are harder to capture. They’re slippery as eels."

Elves and Faeries were different beings. The Fae people were on the darker side, and they have their own realm. They’re considered tricksters with their glamour that could make them look like humans. And they also have abilities to cast spells. They’re quite a powerful race. And it’s a good thing that they have their own realm to play around their tricks and mystical powers. They have the same pointy ears as the elves, but their teeth are razor sharp, and their hair is as dark as midnight. They’re like the devils without horns.

Melisca blinked as her breath got caught up in her throat. The elven prince opened his eyes, and their gazes met. His pupils burned brightly in a golden hue. He looked celestial.

Tyla pulled her away from the door. "Don’t stare too much. He could charm you just by staring at him. That’s why girls wouldn’t want to fight him in the cage. He’s an elven royalty. He had extra abilities that’s vague to understand."

"The elves would be looking for him." She uttered, and they walked on the center aisle as Melisca glanced at both sides to see what other supernatural was there that would get her interest.

"They should. He’s their prince after all. The organization knew how valuable he is. That’s why they should prepare for the consequences of provoking their race, and a royalty at that." Tyla said it as a matter of fact. True though.

Then someone caught Melisca’s attention. She approached that cell door closer. Maybe she was just hallucinating or that someone inside was using tricks in her vision.

There was a little girl on the bed, playing with her brown teddy bear that looked like Mr. Bean’s best friend, Teddy. The girl must have noticed that she was looking because her head turned at the door. Then she jumped out of the bed and ran to the door. Melisca heard a scraping sound from inside.

The girl pulled a small stool and stepped on it so she could reach the barred window and looked closely at the woman that was looking at her. She held the bar with both hands.

"Don’t stand too close. She could reach out her hand." Tyla warned, but Melisca didn’t listen. She continued to stare at the girl’s innocent face. Her chubby cheeks reminded her of her little self. She couldn’t be more than 10 years old. She had a white complexion with blonde hair and amber eyes. She had ribbons on her hair.

"Why is she here?" Melisca couldn’t help but ask. Her heart tugged for the little girl behind the bars. She swallowed hard as she was reminded of her past. If she got caught before, she wouldn’t look so calm like this girl.

"She might look harmless, but she isn’t completely human after all." Tyla said as she was reading the monitoring at the side of the door. "Her name’s Kreena."

Kreena stared back at her. "You’re pretty." Her small, girlish voice warmed her heart somehow. Then the girl reached out her hand and touched her face.

"Don’t—" Tyla warned, but it was too late. She already felt her warm hand touch her skin.

Tyla squinted her eyes at their skin contact, waiting if something would happen. But there’s nothing.

"You’re different." The girl said.

Melisca stepped back before Kreena could say anything else in whatever she saw or felt in her.

"She’s a witch." Tyla said.

"Completely different." She pulled her hand back. Her delicate features scrunched into confusion. "I don’t know what you are."

Melisca’s heart thudded. She should have listened to Tyla. The girl could reveal her identity with just a simple touch that she thought was harmless.

"I’m a person." She said to her.

The girl nodded and smiled at her. That caught her off-guard. Then she jumped down and returned running on her bed.

"She’s just a child." She mumbled. Though what Kreena said was alarming for her, but she still couldn’t help pointing it out.

"Being a child doesn’t make you anymore less dangerous if you have supernatural blood." Tyla uttered. "Come on, I have something more important to discuss with you."

They stepped away in front of her cell and moved back on the aisle. She noticed another door far ahead at end. "What’s in there?" And a glass wall before reaching inside to get there.

"That." Tyla held her arm to stop her from going further and closer on those double doors. "Let’s stop right here." They stopped right outside of the transparent wall.

She couldn’t even make up what’s the details on the paper that was stuck beside the metal doors inside. And she didn’t have her abilities back to zoom her vision on it.

"Inside that door Melisca were the most important captives the organization had. They’re the top priority."

"How many are they and what are their race?" She was curious enough because she thought the elven prince and the other beings were treasured all the same.

Tyla stared at those doors for a few second before she turned her head to Melisca. "You’ll find out soon. Very soon." Her lilting voice changed into a hard tone and there was no playfulness in her eyes anymore. Her aura just changed. "If they’re gone, the organization would suffer drastically. They’re hostages for their most important goal."

"Hostage?"

"They shouldn’t be here." Tyla mumbled under her breath. Her heart aches just by looking at those doors. She knew damn well who were behind those. Who were at the other side.

Melisca heard her and she wasn’t sure if the woman was saying it on her or to herself. But it got her more curious. "Who are they, Tyla?"
