Chapter 106: My Husband Won’t Stop Kissing Me! (Help!)

"Hm...Adrei..." Demond’s voice came between breathless kisses, her fingers tangled in her wife’s silken hair.

"What is it, my Witch?" Adrei murmured against her lips, not breaking contact for a second. Her scaled hands traced hypnotic patterns along Demond’s sides.

"We’ve almost...arrived...and...ah..."

The Dragon’s tongue plunged in again, thoroughly exploring every sweet corner of her mouth.

Demond’s protest dissolved into another whimper as Adrei’s fangs grazed her lower lip.

"A few more minutes..." Adrei purred, her breath hot against Demond’s flushed skin.

"Hic...hic..."

"You’re too sweet, my wife..." The words vibrated through their connected lips as Adrei’s tongue mapped the roof of Demond’s mouth with possessive precision.

Their heated exchange might have continued indefinitely had the icy curtain not parted abruptly.

"Miss Demond. Miss Adrei."

A wet pop echoed through the cabin as they separated, another silvery strand breaking between them.

"Yes?" Adrei lifted her head with visible reluctance, her golden eyes still dark with desire. 991’s impassive face peered through the opening, completely unfazed by the scene before her.

"We appear to have encountered a substantial queue at the gates."

"Is that so?" Adrei’s clawed fingertip traced Demond’s swollen lips with regretful tenderness. Beneath her, the Witch panted more than when she once ran from a Dungeon pitbull, her chest heaving beneath sweat-dampened silks.

"I understand. Then..."

"Adrei..." Demond’s voice came out hoarse, blushing. "Please...get off me first..."

The Dragon blinked, then glanced down at where her thighs still pinned her wife to the carriage seat. "Ah, my apologies."

"Mmm...." Demond shook her head as Adrei finally relented, adjusting her thoroughly disheveled hat with trembling fingers. "I wouldn’t mind..."

A silence filled the cabin. 991’s mechanical eyes flickered between them before she wordlessly closed the curtain, leaving the couple to their privacy.

"Uh...Demond—"

"Earlier," the Witch interrupted, wiping her teary eyes with the back of her hand, "you promised, right?" The blush spreading to the tips of her ears could have lit a dark room.

Adrei watched, enthralled, as Demond’s chest still rose and fell rapidly, her innocent eyes welling with unshed tears against her tomato-red cheeks.

The sight alone was sweeter than any banquet the Dragon Queen had ever tasted.

"You said..." Demond’s voice lulled, "you’d taste me once we arrived, right?"

The silence stretched, charged with anticipation. Adrei’s claws itched with barely restrained hunger as she took in every detail - the way Demond’s silks clung to her damp skin, how her thighs pressed together restlessly, the vulnerable quiver of her lower lip.

"Of course." Adrei’s voice came out rougher than intended. She reached out to poke one burning cheek. "Unless you’d prefer now?"

"Too many people here...you perverted Dragon." The Witch pouted, but the restless shifting of her legs betrayed her own growing need. "At the tavern...is that...acceptable?"

Adrei hunched over with sudden laughter, her shoulders shaking. "Ah...I should refuse, but..." She straightened, running a hand through her disarrayed hair. "I’ll restrain myself until then. As you wish."

The shadow of promised hunger in Adrei’s gaze made Demond’s pulse stutter. She threw her arms around the Dragon’s neck, burying her face in the crook of her scaled neck. "Mmm...that’s settled then..."

They clung to each other - for warmth, for comfort, for the unspoken promise of what awaited them at journey’s end. The carriage jolted forward again, then stopped abruptly.

"Miss Demond." 991’s voice carried through the ice partition. "A guard demands inspection of our...unconventional transport."

"No issue!" Demond scrambled to straighten her rumpled robes while Adrei adjusted the Witch’s oversized hat with care.

"Adrei," Demond whispered through a strained smile, "any ideas for entering discreetly?"

The irony wasn’t lost on her - their glowing ice carriage might as well have been a parade for all the attention it drew.

"None presently." Adrei pinched Demond’s cheek affectionately. "You wish to investigate without the lord’s notice, correct?"

"It’s my first time investigating, so yes." The Witch sighed. "We’ve already failed spectacularly at subtlety...how will we explain this to Queen Elsara?"

"I wouldn’t worry." Adrei’s smirk held secrets. "Any moment now..."

"Hm...Miss Demond? Miss Adrei?" 991’s usually flat tone carried a hint of confusion. "A shadow-like entity approached the guard. We’ve been granted permission to be unchecked."

Demond’s brow furrowed as she looked between the curtain and her smirking wife. "That was...unexpectedly efficient. You’ve planting spies in human kingdoms without me?"

"A spy, yes. But Queen Elsara’s, not mine."

Adrei smoothed Demond’s hair with practiced ease. "After the Human-Demon War’s abrupt conclusion, she required an intelligence network to manage the aftermath."

"Right..." Demond leaned into the touch as the carriage bumped on another rock. "Must have been chaos with a century-long war ending in two years."

"Alice’s...enthusiastic methods of resolution left considerable cleanup." Adrei’s hand moved to rub circles on Demond’s back. "Hence Elsara’s alliance with the Western Shadow Tribe. Their night-melding abilities proved ideal for reconnaissance."

"Impressive she established it so thoroughly, reaching even the Southern territories."

"Necessity drives innovation. With limited communication methods except the Mage Tower’s monopolised magic, the Shadow Tribe became vital to settling the aftermath of the war."

"But Southern tribes traditionally reject outsiders, don’t they?" Demond nuzzled closer, frowning. "There’s a piece I’m missing here..."

Adrei’s chuckle vibrated through their connected bodies. "And whose heroic deeds do you think facilitated that Western alliance?"

"Ugh..." Demond scowled. "Don’t tell me—"

"After the Tyrant’s defeat—with your final battle being in the Western reaches—" Adrei’s lips brushed Demond’s ear, "had you failed, their lands would have been scorched for the next destruction."

"Another ’accidental hero’ moment..." Demond groaned. "What next? Did I unknowingly dismantle the Holy Kingdom’s religion too?"

Adrei wisely chose not to mention how ’their’ daughter had nearly accomplished that by accidentally demolishing the Saintess’ residence.

"Regardless, you should take pride in your accomplishments, Demond. You and your comrades left deeper marks on this world than you realize."

The carriage hit another stop-start rhythm, drawing another frustrated sigh from Demond.

"I started adventuring for fame, but..." Her breath hitched. "How do I explain...it’s complicated? Frustrating? I...don’t know how to feel."

"Try me." Adrei cupped Demond’s cheek, guiding her gaze upward. "I’ll advise as best I can."

"It’s...simple, really." Demond leaned again into the touch. "Have you wondered why I never brought you to my comrades’ graves?"

"Oh?" Adrei’s brows lifted. "I confess I’ve tried for years to locate their resting places, but—"

"Because we vowed never to erect tombstones."

"...what?" Genuine shock colored Adrei’s voice before Demond’s soft giggle cut through the tension.

"It was Zero’s wish," the Witch explained, her smirk fading into something melancholic. "And it honored our shared origins."

"Shared...? Your party came from diverse backgrounds, didn’t they?"

"Not untrue, but not the whole truth." Demond’s smile turned wistful. "We called ourselves the ’Nameless Wanderers.’ Each of us came from lost homes or exiled realms. Our journey wasn’t about redemption, but proving we could live well despite our pasts."

She swallowed hard, omitting her own unique circumstances. "Zero—our Android—vowed never to make a name for herself. She was an executor sworn to ’rest’ her <Drowned> sisters. So..."

"You all promised to remain nameless with her." Adrei’s sorrow mirrored Demond’s own.

"Essentially."

The rattling wheels filled the prolonged silence this time. Demond didn’t break it, uncertain how to give voice to the conflict churning within her.

Her journey had begun with a different purpose than her comrades’—to carve his name into history. Now, with hero status within reach, hesitation bore into her mind.

Should she honor her friends’ wishes? Or validate the ’Pride’ she’d promised Leona—the pride of a reincarnator who refused to fade into obscurity?

"Adrei...what do you think?"

The Dragon Queen’s golden eyes softened, but offered no easy answers.

"I’ve underestimated your grief, Demond." Her kiss was feather-light against Demond’s lips. "My philosophy demands unapologetic arrogance—my wife deserves every glory she’s earned."

"Then—"

"But never at the cost of your peace." Adrei’s lips moved to Demond’s neck, drawing another gasp. "Take time with your decision. Never force a choice that betrays your heart."

Her tongue traced the Witch’s fluttering pulse point. "Every part of me belongs to you, and I’ll honor whatever path you choose."

Pulling back, Adrei’s gaze held centuries’ worth of devotion. "I’ll wait patiently, my wife."

"...cheap answer." Demond’s pout couldn’t hide her amusement. "Should I be flattered that my perverted husband prefers groping me over giving proper advice?"

"Perhaps you should." Adrei’s lips hovered a breath away. "One more?"

Demond’s lips parted instinctively before she caught herself. The heat pooling in her stomach left no room for denial.

"...just one."

Their lips crashed together with renewed hunger, the smacking sounds and breathy moans resuming with vigor.

Outside, 991 sighed as she guided their carriage past the finally-moving gates, silently lamenting the irreversible damage to her auditory sensors from the couple’s relentless passion.
