The Reaper's Wicked Obsession
Chapter 98: She Tamed A Beast

Chapter 98: She Tamed A Beast

Rav was seated at the top of the tower, drowning himself in a bottle of ale. His dimmed scarlet eyes watching the sunset.

It was a beautiful sight, the orange color masking the cloud in a lovely hue, the faint sounds of birds chirping, and eagles in the distance.

Rav sighed heavily, shaking his head, and closed his eyes.

The final challenge was probably over.

The mere thought of it caused a tightening sensation to his chest. He ran his hand through his hair in distress, before taking another drink.

Fae ale was meant to wash away anything else and consume you with its essence, yet it did nothing to amend the pain in his heart.

"Why, Isadora, why?" he said heartbroken.

He had a chance to stop her, but she made her choice. He couldn’t bear to see her go through with it, watch her throw her life away.

But sitting here... knowing she would die, was beyond anything he had ever felt. He had failed her, just like he did his sister.

The gods always had a way of making him powerless at the moment he needed strength. What was the use of strength if he couldn’t stop her from throwing her life away?

A high-pitched whine echoed from behind as the makeshift lift came to a halt.

"I knew I smelt ale from down there," Logi said, walking to Rav, and taking a seat beside him.

He grabbed the bottle halfway from Rav’s lips, and chugged it, finishing it in one go.

Rav frowned and said. "What are you doing here, Logi?"

"Alda! I needed that." Logi groaned, flinging the wooden bottle into the air. "You were meant to be at the event, coward."

Rav forced his eyes away. "You were both there, that was enough."

"You seem to be forgetting your position in this Court," Logi said, aggravated. "Here you are, out here, getting drunk in daylight. Fucking disappointment."

Rav rubbed his forehead as migraine formed, the last thing he needed was Logi telling him off like an adult.

"I don’t want to deal with you right now," he mumbled, hoping he would go and leave him be.

"You should have been there."

"And watch?!" He exploded, facing Logi with his furious eyes. "Watch the crowd enjoy the sight of her suffering? Watch Kraven get satisfaction from torturing her more because he feels like it?"

"Trust me Rav, he wasn’t satisfied." Logi sighed heavily, his mind still clouded about the whole event. "If more he looked like he wanted to murder everything in sight."

"I couldn’t, Logi," Rav confessed. "I couldn’t watch her die."

"She’s alive... unfortunately," Logi uttered but felt the opposite of someone who wished her death.

Yet that didn’t change the truth.

"My life is officially over... I’m now a lap dog, the great Tinker of the Raven Court is a lap dog." He scoffed. "Do you have any more of that ale?"

Rav suddenly grabbed his collar, his hands trembling. "S-She’s alive?" He couldn’t believe his own words.

He knew the beast she would face as a skin weaver, an untamed Snákr, one of the most dangerous creatures.

"Yes, stupid Rav, she walked out of the arena with her own two feet after getting fixed by the Snákr."

"What?" Rav said in shock as his grip loosened. "What in the name of the seven gods’ name are you talking about?"

Logi chuckled. "Oh you should have seen it, slap me back to reality for my eyes still deceives me... she tamed a Snákr."

"Now you’re not making any sense, are you trying to get me more angry"

"Is it working? Stupid Rav?"

"Don’t call me that!" he yelled, yanking away from him as Logi laughed.

Rav rose to his feet, still taken over by the fact that Isadora was still alive.

"I’m not lying, Rav," Logi said, his smile fading abruptly as seriousness morphed his face. "It’s still not decided if she passed or failed."

"Does that even matter now?!"

"No." He frowned. "It does not." He rose to his feet. "A mannfae who can weave, a skin weaver who can heal oneself and to top it up in a muddled mass confusion..." He flicked his fingers. "She tamed a beast."

Rav gulped at Logi’s words—they sounded more true and it got him more worried.

He knew the toll it took on her body to heal, but taming a beast? He couldn’t begin to imagine the state she was in.

"Where is she?" he demanded.

Logi shrugged. "I don’t know, she disappeared after the challenge." A smile formed on his lips. "And Kraven left earlier than expected."

Rav’s heartbeat spiked as he speeded down the ladders. Logi sighed watching as Rav stormed away like his ass was on fire.

"I need more ale."

Rav hurried to Kraven’s chambers, located at the highest, and most secluded part of the mountain.

As the stone door jogged open he stepped into the vast room, eyes moving until they found the bed where an unconscious Isadora lay.

A wave of relief found him as he walked closer, he stood at the foot of the bed watching her form, his eyes searched for any sign of a wound but he could not find any.

Logi was right, The Snákr healed her completely.

Her face was peaceful, her porcelain skin giving a mesmerizing glow, her long golden blonde hair fanned out on the black fur sheets.

Rav exhaled sharply, resting his hands on the footboard, and lowered his head. In Alda’s name, he pictured her death multiple times and it almost gave him a heart attack.

"I’m sorry," he murmured. "I should’ve been there... even though I could not stop you." He stared at her form again, gulping hard.

Suddenly the feeling of eyes on his back caused Rav to straighten his position. He didn’t feel it before but there had been a presence in the room.

Slowly, he turned and found Kraven at the far corner, seated in a chair, back reclined, thighs parted, and one elbow rested on the armrest.

His cheek pressed against the back of his hand, while the other hand twirled a dagger between his fingers with effortless grace.

"She needs to be attended to by a skin weaver. The Snákr might have healed her but we can’t be sure."

A smile curled his lips. "I see Logi has already twisted his way to you."
