Chapter 102: Slit The Throat Of Your Monster
(Music Recommendation: Ethereal - By Txmy, Freya Ridings)
A Moon Later
Isadora slowly opened her eyes, meeting the rock ceiling embedded with twisting patterns.
She swallowed hard, a dryness to her throat that caused her to groan. The taste in her mouth felt like sand and each swallow hurts too.
Her muscles felt sore and weak, making her feel completely paralyzed. Trying to move caused painful discomfort.
’How long have I been asleep?’ she thought. The last thing she remembered was the sudden dizziness and how heavy her body felt, like a boulder was crushing down on it.
Nothing else after that, only darkness.
But it wasn’t exactly as she thought, that particular darkness had trapped her within. She spent forever locked in her own body, thinking of nothing, and unable to feel anything.
She knew she was alive, but her body didn’t function, for most parts, she felt dead. She was helpless and imprisoned in her own body, the rest of the world nonexistent but with the idea that it was within arm’s reach but couldn’t find it.
It was horrifying, an experience she didn’t want to live through again.
Suddenly a movement caught her eyes, a moving shadow, her heartbeat spiked knowing she was helpless at the moment and whatever was there could be dangerous.
Was she still trapped in the darkness?
Isadora could only wait with a pounding heartbeat, unable to tear her eyes away from that particular area.
And then, footsteps echoed, and Kraven emerged from the darkness like the very embodiment of it.
Isadora opened her mouth to speak but what came off her was a gasp.
"Hello, love."
The sound of his gravelly voice caused a chill down her spine.
"Your eyes have many questions. I’ll answer the simple one." He grabbed a wooden jug and turned something into a cup, the heavy smell of herbal infusion filling her nose. "You have been asleep for a moon."
’What?’ She thought, startled.
Kraven took a seat on the bed and chugged the drink in one go but then suddenly he grabbed her jaw possessively and crashed his lips against hers.
The kiss was deep, consuming, stealing away the little breath she had left. But the taste of the warm liquid from his mouth to hers caused her features to morph into discomfort.
Kraven swallowed her gasp, taking advantage of her parted lips, his tongue sweeping through every corner of her mouth, chasing the herbal taste away.
Isadora’s heart thrashed heavily in her chest until she was certain it would give out any minute. Her body responded in ways she couldn’t understand.
His eager movements like he wanted to merge their mouths for eternity.
Kraven’s fingers slid into her hair, gripped the soft strands and angled just the way he wanted, to take more.
Heat curled low in her stomach as he deepened the kiss, hungry, unforgiving, and owning every inch of her mouth like it was last taste on earth.
His teeth bit against her lower lip, hard. A groan escaped Isadora as her body jolted, tingles finding their way to every inch of her body until her toes curled, a strangled moan breaking from her throat.
The stroke of his tongue ignited heat in her body, skillfully soothing the sting to her open skin, sucking until they became sore.
By the time he finally pulled back, Isadora’s breath was ragged, her lips swollen, and a dazed look in her eyes.
A devilish smirk curled Kraven’s lips, he traced his thumb over her swollen lips and said. "Go to sleep, this time, don’t take too long."
Her eyelids grew heavy, his voice becoming echoes before darkness took over.

When Isadora opened her eyes again, her body wasn’t stiff anymore and the soreness of her throat was gone.
Forcing her body to move, she sat up, eyeing the nightstand where a cup was, she reached for it and sniffed to make sure it wasn’t something nasty. It was just water.
She drank everything in one go without hesitation. She hissed as her lip stung from Kraven’s assault on them, a reminder of what transpired.
Despite her better judgment, she didn’t know how to feel. She was just empty... her mind was blank.
She needed something to bring her body back to life, her state was a reminder of how trapped she was in the past moon, unable to dream but in an endless nightmare.
Pulling the fur covers out of the way, her feet found the cold floor, inhaling sharply she rose to her feet, her walk unstable as she strode to the open entrance leading to the bath.
Isadora halted as her gaze swept around the empty place, it was warmer than the room and the soft sound of trickling water, coming from the raven fountain, was soothing to hear.
She gulped, stepping closer, feet tapping on the stairs as her body dipped gradually in the warm water.
She moaned at the contact but she didn’t stop until the water reached her neck.
Her dull amber eyes remained on the twisted ceiling, everything was just listless. She submerged herself completely.
Under the water, Isadora pulled her knees to her chest, closing her eyes, bubbles escaped her mouth but she remained there eager... to silence everything.
But as time passed, it became harder to hold her breath, so she emerged, coughing and pushing her wet hair from her face.
"If drowning was what you had in mind, love, you should’ve told me. I’d be delighted to help."
The voice behind her caused goosebumps against her skin, the feeling of his piercing gaze on her back felt like an entity ready to devour her.
"Go away," Isadora whispered over her shoulder.
"This is my chamber, love."
"Then I’ll leave." Isadora walked to the stairs, the oversized tunic clinging to her body like a second skin, yet her mind was too blank to think about her clothing.
The water did not wake her up.
A hand suddenly grasped the back of her neck and forced her to turn around and her dull ambers landed on silver ones.
Kraven frowned at the look in her eyes akin to someone dead. "I hate that look."
Isadora attempted to pull away from him but his hold remained like a steel at the back of her neck until it felt bruising.
"You’re hurting me," she mumbled in discomfort.
"Then do something!" He seethed to her face.
Without breaking eye contact, she swiftly took his dagger from its holster and pointed the tip beneath his chin.
"Let. Me. Go."
Kraven leaned more to the blade, even as she tilted it and the cold steel dangerously close.
"Make me," he said as a devilish grin spread over his lips revealing his sharpened canines.
Isadora’s hand trembled, eyeing the blade almost cutting through, just a tilt and she would slit it.
"I know you want to, love."
"Stop it," she mumbled.
"Let me give you the boost you need then."
"What—" She couldn’t finish her words as he pushed forward, forcing her to take steps back until her back met the cold wall.
Her shaky eyes on the crimson trail staining the blade.
"Does the sight of my blood please you?"
"S-Stop."
"You have the blade in your hand, love, do with it what you desire... slit the throat of your monster."
Her glassy gaze lifted to his face. He was smiling, even now when she was lost and broken he still wanted to feed on her ruin. In the end it was only about his entertainment.
He would never stop, he would keep taking. How much more? Until she’s left with nothing?
"DO IT!"
Isadora’s hands trembled uncontrollably, and it caused her blade to shift more to his skin, more trails of blood sliding down his bare chest.
"You can end it all."
She could. Take the life of a monster given to her by the gods, and end it all with one swift move. Maybe she would finally be free.
"You did promise to take my heart one day, or is this better?" He shifted the blade swiftly to his chest.
The steel pulsed against his chest.
"Take it!" He pressed the blade further.
Isadora screamed, yanked her hand away, and flung the dagger, the sound of steel ringing through the place.
Her breath was unstable, her wide eyes on the mark on his chest, a little cut from when she moved the blade. If she hadn’t hesitated, she would have opened his chest.
Taken what he had desired.
Her trembling hands trailed to his chest, blood coating them and then her fingers formed a fist. Her lips quivered and then tears fell before she could stop them.
The storm came through—the pent-up emotions; Vanya’s death, her emotional load, the remnants of the darkness that still clung to her.
Her fists pounded against his chest, weak but furious, her voice rising into a screams of cries.
Kraven just stood there, hands to his sides.
Unmoving.
Watching the girl break under his gaze, screaming at him like a curse to her life, unleashing her stored emotions, raw and undeniably real.
Her hands slammed into him more, harder this time. Her fingers curled, nails digging into his chest as she went on a rampage, like she wanted to tear him apart.
Like she wanted him to feel something.
