The Reaper's Wicked Obsession
Chapter 103: Unattended Emotions

Chapter 103: Unattended Emotions

But Kraven didn’t

She wanted him to break as she did. To feel what she felt.

But he didn’t.

His heart should be racing, his hand should move to soothe her, to hold her together before she unraveled completely before she became nothing but a speck of dust.

He didn’t.

If Rav were here... he would have held her, to ensure she didn’t break or vanish into the wind, silenced her cries, soothed her pain, and held her until the darkness was erased.

But Kraven didn’t. His hands did not hold her as she hoped, they just hung at his sides, useless.

Her sobs continued to rip through the air, her body crumbling and shaking as the weight of all unleashed emotions crashed over her.

And all Kraven could do was watch.

He hated it, everything, this. Her desperate cries were like she needed him to do something like she expected something from him.

The audacity.

Kraven’s jaw clenched as an unfamiliar pressure coiled in his chest. His fingers twitched at his sides, itching to do something. But what? What could he do?

He didn’t know how to be soft. He didn’t know how to mend. He only knew how to break, take and devour.

Her eyes, red and swollen, searched his face like she was begging for something. But she wouldn’t find it. There was nothing to give.

His thirst was the only thing present... the need to silence her sounds but not in the way she expected.

Isadora’s sobs grew quieter, her body slumping, knees to her chest.

And still, he did nothing.

Kraven’s stomach twisted, frustration boiling beneath his skin like wildfire. It made no sense, none of this made anything sense at all.

He didn’t know what aggravated him more. Her pitiful cries, her pitiful need or the thought that watching her like this made him feel like something inside him was wrong.

She had finally stopped screaming, only sobs echoed but the silence was worse.

The loud storm of her outpour pain was gone, she clung to herself like he didn’t exist like he was erased out of her existence and it was just her, holding what was left.

The silence was unbearable.

Kraven’s fingers flexed once, twice, and then curled into a fist. Keeping his eerily disgustful gaze down on the broken girl one last time—He turned sharply on his heels, his teeth grinding as he strode away.

The rage burned through him, and for the first time in his life, this rage was meant for him.

Isadora washed her bloody hands in the water, but she couldn’t get the stains off her tunic.

Her body seemed to have calmed down, but her nerves still worked her to the core and her hands hurt like she had hit them against a rock.

But at least... compared to before she felt something.

The ache to her chest, the sting to her eyes, her hurting throat from crying. A reminder that she was still alive.

However, the burning desire to leave this suffocating place was greatly needed.

Sniffling, she rose to her feet and walked back to the chambers, searching for anything to cover up.

She couldn’t go out wearing just her leather pants and oversized tunic, after taking a dip in the water.

Her eyes searched for anything to cover up with.

They landed on a leather jacket on the chair. Slowly, she walked to it and grabbed the material. It was Kraven’s and there was nothing else here except this.

Deciding this was the only choice, she wore it. It was warm and his spicy cinnamon scent was all over it.

She couldn’t wait to get rid of it, but for now, it was needed.

Isadora walked to the wall, tapping her hands against the cold surface to find an opening. She remembered when Rav did something like that to open the door, when he came for her during her first day in the Court.

’Where is it?’

"Going somewhere?"

At the unrecognized voice, Isadora gasped and turned, her erratic eyes moving around the room until they settled on a shadowed figure.

It was tall and threatening but, for some reason, she knew it wasn’t Kraven. He had an aura to him. Yet, this particular presence was like a ghost.

Even now when the dark figure stood in the dark she couldn’t feel anything from it.

Her eyes moved to the nightstand where her holster and dagger were. Making a quick decision, she lunged for it and pulled out her weapon.

"Who are you?" she demanded, pointing it to the figure, heart thrashing in her chest and pondering her chances against this unfamiliar presence.

"Forgive me, if I startled you." His voice was in a whisper, blending with the room.

"You haven’t answered my question, who are you and how long have you been there?" she demanded again.

Isadora didn’t feel anyone watching her since Kraven left, she was beginning to doubt that she hadn’t been alone.

"When Lord Raven left."

"Lord Raven?" she mumbled. He was talking about Kraven.

"And I’m Ekko, The Faceless," he introduced politely, she half expected him to bow or something, but couldn’t see him quite enough to tell.

"Faceless?" she asked, confused, the name sounding foreign. "Why are you here then?"

"To watch you."

"Watch me?"

"I’ve since you’ve been asleep when Lord Raven is not present."

This creeped Isadora out and she didn’t know what to make of it. This Ekko must be Kraven’s companion.

"Are you going to kill me then?" she asked, catching him off guard. "Anyone acquainted with Kraven always wants to, except Rav," she added the last two words in a whisper.

"I’m not going to kill you."

"I don’t believe you."

"Killing you would mean I’ve gone against my master’s wishes."

"But I have a feeling you do," Isadora countered, she felt no bloodlust from him and was simply testing him.

But you can never know one’s true nature until you read them. She couldn’t read him, so asking was both a smart and stupid idea.
