Chapter 47: Sea Barrage
Chapter 47: Sea Barrage
After eating, Karina was fully stuffed. Her cheeks were puffed out slightly as she tried to finish the last few bites, but in the end, she gave up and leaned back with a satisfied sigh. The food was extremely delicious—it was her first time eating a real meal like that, and it showed in the sparkle in her eyes.
Before long, she drifted off again, this time falling asleep while clinging to me like a little koala. I smiled gently, looking down at her adorable, peaceful face. Her breathing was steady, and her fingers lightly curled around the fabric of my shirt.
This little girl had gone through so much... and yet she still found comfort by my side. It was a strange feeling—this quiet sense of responsibility that settled in my chest. I brushed a strand of hair from her face and adjusted her slightly, laying her down on the bed and covering her with a light blanket.
Then, carefully, I slipped out of her embrace.
There was something I needed to do.
Grabbing the ancient Tier spellbook for Sea Barrage, I stepped outside. The kingdom had a large open training field specifically for adventurers and warriors. Since this city existed under the sea, a protective barrier in the form of a giant bubble wrapped around it, keeping the water out. That allowed other races like me to move freely inside.
Well i could move outside the Kingdom because the starfish above me it’s incredible usefull but thinking it’s the power of that Emotion disgusted me
I yawned, stretching. "Alright... Let’s give this spell a try."
The training grounds were already bustling with activity. Fish Race warriors practiced their techniques in the open space, many of them radiating powerful auras. Most were at least 5-Star in strength. I was only a 3-Star... officially.
But I wasn’t jealous. I knew my strength was already rivaling some 5-Stars If I mastered this spell, Sea Barrage, I might even be able to threaten a 6-Star opponent. That was nothing to scoff at.
That is if I’m still a 3 Star i should be atleast 4 Star and i could dominate anyone below 7 Star
Sitting down on a flat piece of coral-stone, I opened the spellbook and began studying it carefully. The book was ancient—its text written in flowing aquatic runes, infused with mana that pulsed with every word.
Hours passed. The world around me dimmed as night fell, but I was still there, reading and focusing. The spell was incredibly complex, demanding not only vast mana control but also a precise mental image of a needle storm so dense it could pierce metal like paper.
Finally, after what felt like an entire night of mental wrestling, I managed to cast it for the first time.
A single, tiny needle formed at the tip of my finger.
Whoosh!
It launched forward at a terrifying speed. My eyes widened as it tore through a wooden dummy, then embedded itself halfway into a slab of reinforced coral. The wood had been enchanted to withstand hits from 5-Star warriors... and yet my needle passed through it like butter.
My lips curled into a smile. "That’s more like it..."
Even though my current proficiency was low, the spellbook had clearly stated that a true master of Sea Barrage could summon up to a million needles in a single cast. A million! Their ancestor had only ever reached ten thousand—and he had already been a force strong enough to injure an 8-Star expert.
Just imagining what a million could do...
But I frowned, remembering what the Emotion of Sadness had said. The 8-Star realm wasn’t the peak. There were far greater threats out there. If even the strongest kingdoms of the Humanity could fall to the Angels, then my strength still wasn’t enough.
I sighed in frustration but didn’t let it discourage me.
No. I have to keep moving forward. For her... and for myself.
I trained through the night, refining the spell slowly. By morning, I had reached a point where I could summon five needles at once—still a long way from ten thousand, let alone a million, but it was a start.
As the first rays of sunlight filtered through the dome, I returned to the apartment, sweat clinging to my skin. My legs felt heavy, and my head was pounding slightly from mana overuse. Still, I smiled, satisfied with the progress.
The door creaked open softly, and I stepped inside.
Karina was already awake.
Her eyes were teary, her small hands clutching the blanket as she sat up in bed. The moment she saw me, her tears spilled over. Without hesitation, she jumped off the bed and ran straight into me.
"Father!!" she cried out.
I stumbled slightly from the force of her hug. Her little arms wrapped tightly around my waist, and she buried her face into me, sniffling. I could feel her tiny shoulders shaking.
She must have thought I had left her.
"I-I thought... I thought you were gone again..." she murmured, her voice trembling. "I don’t want to be alone anymore..."
I didn’t pull away. I rested my hand gently on her head, holding her close.
"I’m here," I whispered. "I’m not going anywhere."
She sighed in relief, nuzzling closer into me, breathing in my scent like it grounded her. I could feel her heartbeat slowly returning to normal.
I stood there silently, letting her hold on for as long as she needed.
Eventually, when she calmed down, I looked out the window. The world outside was beautiful
She needs too get stronger so do i were still pretty much weak even if combination of our power it’s only equivalent too two 5 Star
I should train her—within this month, she needed to reach at least the 2-Star level, or at the very least, the peak of 1-Star. That would be the minimum for survival in the days ahead.
I glanced at her. She was sitting on the bed, legs swinging slightly, watching me with curiosity in her eyes. Her head tilted adorably, clearly wondering what was going through my mind. I didn’t say anything immediately. Instead, I stood up and walked toward her.
Without a word, I gently picked her up into my arms.
"Huh? Where are we going?" she asked, blinking up at me, her small hands gripping my shirt.
I didn’t answer at first. I carried her outside, walking down the familiar path toward the training grounds. The sunlight filtered through the transparent dome overhead, bathing the street in a soft glow. Karina’s feet kicked slightly in the air as she was carried, but she didn’t resist—she simply waited patiently, trusting me.
We finally reached the open training field again, where the salty scent of the ocean air drifted in through the barrier. A few fishfolk warriors were training off to the side, but most gave us space, recognizing me from earlier events.
As I set her down gently on the stone floor, she looked around and frowned slightly.
"Hmm? Why are we here?" she asked, glancing up at me again.
I smiled, kneeling down so I could meet her eyes. "How about a little test?" I said softly. "I want to see just how strong you are right now."
She blinked, tilting her head again. "A test?"
I nodded and gave her a playful smile. "If you do your best and give it everything you’ve got, I’ll let you eat anything you want from the street vendors today. Anything. Even desserts."
Her eyes widened instantly.
"Anything?" she gasped, the light in her expression shining brighter than the morning sun.
"Anything," I repeated with a gentle chuckle.
She stared at me for a moment, and then her little hands clenched into fists. "Alright! I’ll do my best!" she declared with a fire in her tone that I hadn’t seen before.
It was both heartwarming and adorable.
"Good," I said, standing up. "Now, I want you to show me what you can do. Use your mana, any abilities you feel inside you—anything that comes naturally."
She nodded seriously, closing her eyes.
As I took a few steps back to give her space, I activated a barrier around the area just in case. Karina had absorbed some emotional energy back in the church, and her potential was unpredictable.
I watched as she stood there, brows furrowed in concentration. A light breeze stirred around her, despite the air being still.
Suddenly, a soft blue glow began to emanate from her skin, centered around her chest and then spreading to her hands. Her two blue horns shimmered faintly, like starlight reflected in the sea.
Then—
Boom!
She had summoned Two Dolls it was very beautiful and not scary it looked lively and looked very refined
it was a contrast in that scary Doll i had seen in the Moonlight Village Looking at it closely it have the power of atleast
5 Star Peak layer! i was satisfied though the other doll the Evil one back then is stronger but right now this is satisfactory
