Chapter 48: Training Karina {1}
After watching Karina display her progress, I was deeply satisfied. I reached out, gently patting her head with a warm smile. "Hmm. Good," I said, chuckling softly at the proud expression on her face.
She gave me a smug, playful look—so confident for someone so small. Then, as if wanting to impress me even more, she conjured a wing behind her back. My eyes widened slightly at the sight. It was mesmerizing—pure yellow, glowing like golden sunlight, with a faint sparkle that shimmered in the air. It was... beautiful.
I sighed in amazement, rubbing my chin thoughtfully. "Well, she is a half Dragon after all..." I muttered. That certainly explained the wings.
She flexed her newly revealed wing with flair, giving me a smug smirk as she leaned in expectantly. She was clearly waiting for more praise.
I couldn’t resist. I laughed gently and patted her head again. "You really are something special," I said.
She nodded, completely satisfied, and began to demonstrate more of her physical capabilities. Despite not having formed a core yet, her raw strength and speed were already on par with a 4-Star warrior. The way she moved, the force behind her punches, and the precision in her dodges—it was all remarkable. I smiled, my heart swelling with pride.
"Sit here," I said, patting the ground next to me.
She obeyed immediately, plopping down where I’d gestured. I then began explaining the basics of forming a core—how mana needed to circulate, concentrate, and compress it until it reached critical mass and formed a stable core.
At first, she looked confused, her eyebrows scrunched together in deep thought. But after a few trials and repeated explanations, I could feel her mana beginning to shift and gather. Her understanding was quick—even if she didn’t always believe in herself, her instincts were sharp.
I observed her with my spiritual sense and noticed something surprising. The mana within her wasn’t standard—it was a combination of regular mana and The Mana of the Emotion she had purified
But it didn’t fight or became chaotic it just slowly combined
The Emotions mana was low in quantity, not yet enough to form a full core. But it was strong—potent enough to rival even a 5-Star warrior’s output. And more importantly, when it merged with her regular mana, it didn’t weaken either force. Instead, they reinforced each other.
Then something unexpected happened. The regular mana began getting absorbed into the emotional mana, feeding it, strengthening it.
Slowly, her pool of emotion mana grew more defined. Before she could form a core, however, her regular mana was fully devoured. It wasn’t enough. Her core remained unformed, and she slumped, pouting.
She looked down, disappointed. "I failed to form a core... I’m sorry, Father."
I sighed and patted her head gently, my voice soft but firm. "You didn’t fail. You just didn’t succeed yet. There’s a big difference."
While she was resting from her attempt, I took the opportunity to resume training. I couldn’t afford to waste any time. Every second mattered. I returned to meditating and comprehending more of the Sea Barrage spell.
The night passed slowly. The moonlight, filtered through the shimmering dome above the Kingdom, made everything glow with a bluish tint. The peaceful silence was broken only by the faint hum of mana and distant echoes of nighttime activity.
Finally, by Night. I could summon seven Sea Barrage needles at once. Their speed was unmatched, and their piercing power was terrifying. I hadn’t even used the staff to amplify the spell yet, and already it could threaten a 6-Star warrior. With the staff’s amplification... who knew?
Just as I was finishing my training, I heard soft footsteps behind me. A small figure rushed at me and suddenly hugged my waist tightly.
Karina was clinging to me, her face buried in my Clothes. Her voice trembled with emotion. "I’m sorry, Father... I couldn’t form the core today..."
I was stunned for a moment, then gently rubbed her head. This child... even in her disappointment, she still feared letting me down. "You don’t need to apologize. You’ve already done your best. And that’s all I could ever ask for."
She looked up at me with a bright, hopeful smile that melted my heart.
"Didn’t I promise you something?" I asked, standing up and lifting her in my arms. "I told you, if you did your best, you could pick anything you wanted from the street vendors."
Her eyes lit up like twin stars. "Really?!" she asked eagerly.
I nodded. "Anything."
As we walked through the crowded marketplace, she clung to me like a little koala, pointing at stall after stall of food. I bought her every dish she wanted—steamed buns, fish dumplings, glowing sea-pudding, even roasted starfish skewers. Each time she took a bite, her face would light up with happiness, cheeks puffed out like a squirrel.
Eventually, her little belly was fully stuffed, and she looked ready to fall asleep again, still clinging to me tightly.
I smiled warmly as I carried her back to our room. Once there, I gently laid her down on the bed. She was out in seconds, curled up with a small satisfied smile on her face.
I sat on the floor, gazing up at the ceiling, my thoughts drifting.
It was time.
I crossed my legs and entered a meditation posture. My core was full. I had been holding off long enough—it was time to push to the 3-Star Peak Layer.
The night passed in deep concentration. I circulated my mana carefully, compressing it, tempering it, stabilizing it. Sweat dripped down my brow as I endured the strain.
By dawn, I had broken through. My mana pool had expanded significantly, and my senses had grown sharper. I collapsed back onto the bed, breathing heavily but satisfied.
I looked up at the ceiling, my thoughts wandering again.
Lucy...
My chest tightened at the thought of her.

Meanwhile...
Far away,
Izumi was with Lucy.
Since Akashi had left, Lucy had changed. She was colder—almost numb. Her words were rare, her smile absent. She moved like a machine, completing her duties, only training, and never staying long enough to talk to anyone.
Izumi sighed, watching her.
She had already made plans. She wanted to help Akashi, especially she knows he is in to the Deep Sea. A place where no normal human could Travel in.
Honestly when she had teleported him in the Maze
She had only expected him to retrieve the Staff—not the Satan Eyes.
She interferes in the Future He should only Gotten the Staff about 5 Years by now
Izumi’s heart was conflicted.
In the past, when the final battle came, only she had survived. The others... all gone. The world torn apart.
And now, here She was again, before it all started. With a chance to change everything.
Izumi looked over at Lucy. Her face was as emotionless as a statue. But Izumi knew better.
In her cold, frozen heart... there was love.
A quiet, aching love.
A love she never had the chance to fully express before it was too late.
And this time... they might have a chance to stop fate from repeating itself.
---
The soft golden light of morning filtered through the Window looking at the ceiling. Slowly, Karina stirred from her slumber, her delicate eyelashes fluttering before her bright eyes blinked open.
The first thing she saw was me i watched over her. A calm peace lingered in the air, but as she blinked away the remnants of sleep, a peculiar thought crossed her mind.
Her brows knit slightly as she sat up, brushing a few loose strands of hair away from her face. Then, with the innocent impulsiveness of a child, she leaned over and poked my cheek.
The sudden sensation startled me awake. I groaned softly, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. As my vision cleared, the first thing I saw was her curious, expectant face—those wide eyes filled with genuine wonder. It was such a simple expression, yet so heart-meltingly adorable that I couldn’t help but smile.
She tilted her head slightly and asked with gentle curiosity, "Hmm... Father, what is your name?"
Her voice was soft, almost hesitant, as though the question carried weight. A quiet guilt glimmered in her eyes—perhaps she was realizing that for all the time we had spent together, she had never once thought to ask something so simple, so personal.
I blinked at her, surprised, and then let out a quiet chuckle. I reached over and gently patted her head, brushing her hair affectionately.
"Akashi," I said softly. "My name is Akashi."
She nodded slowly, her expression serious for a moment as she repeated the name under her breath, committing it to memory. It was as if she were engraving it onto her very soul.
Then she looked up at me with a radiant smile. "Akashi..." she said again, her voice lighter now, warmer—filled with affection.
My heart swelled slightly at that. Hearing my name spoken like that, so gently from her lips, stirred something deep within me. I smiled back at her, eyes soft with emotion. "Alright," I said, stretching slightly. "How about we get back to forming your core?"
Her expression lit up with excitement, her earlier drowsiness vanishing in an instant. She nodded eagerly, determination flashing in her eyes. I could see it clearly—she wanted to prove herself. She didn’t want to be seen as a burden. She wanted to stand proudly beside me... to show that she was strong too.
She crossed her legs and sat down gracefully in a lotus position, her little hands resting on her knees, palms upward. Her breathing steadied as she began to draw in mana, slow and focused. A faint glow began to surround her as she entered a meditative state.
I watched her for a moment, feeling both proud and a little nostalgic. She was growing—bit by bit, day by day. And soon, she’d be strong enough
With a soft yawn, I turned my gaze upward, staring at the cracked ceiling beams once more. I had barely managed to sleep last night. My thoughts had been restless, tangled up in memories and worries about what lay ahead.
Still, this wasn’t the time to rest.
Sighing quietly, I sat up straight, closing my eyes briefly. I extended my hand, feeling the pulse of energy respond. Without hesitation,
i Started comprehending the Sea barrage Spell...
