Chapter 308: [Bonus Chapter]Chapter 308 – The end of Mara
You don’t have to put yourself through this, my queen," Robin pleaded with Sabrina as she emptied the contents of her stomach.
Robin accompanied her into the washroom, carefully holding her long hair to prevent it from getting soiled with vomit.
"I need to witness this," Sabrina insisted.
Despite her fragile heart, she was determined to see how everything unfolded and how it would ultimately end.
Shaking his head, Robin feared that she might faint if she witnessed the entire ordeal.
"No, I can’t let you go in there again."
Sabrina grew irritated, as she was adamant about seeing it for herself. She believed that the memory of their final days would bring her solace whenever she recalled what those two had done to her.
"Yes, you will, or I won’t go home," she stubbornly insisted. After finishing vomiting, she washed her face, only to be pulled into Robin’s embrace.
"Please, don’t do this to yourself," he pleaded, his voice filled with concern. However, Sabrina remained unmoved by his unwanted advice.
"Trust me, I need this and I won’t give up. I’m going to witness it," Sabrina insisted, while Robin felt worried and helpless.
In the torture room, Mara and Martin were barely recognizable. The bags under Mara’s eyes made her look like a zombie, her skin unnaturally pale.
Her long sleeves and jeans concealed the condition of her skin, drawing
attention to her face instead.
Her disheveled hair only made matters worse, and her swollen face was truly pitiful. When she opened her eyes, they were blurry, and her lips were chapped, her voice hoarse from thirst.
Seeing Sabrina gave her a glimmer of hope, knowing that she had a kind heart.
If Mara managed to escape, she vowed to make Sabrina pay for stealing the love of the only man she ever loved and for subjecting her to this torture.
"Sabrina, please, help us."
Sabrina scoffed, surprised that Mara had used ’us’ instead of ’me’.
"Even in your situation, you are still fighting for your man. It’s romantic, but I’m afraid, Mara, all you have ever done is hurt me. Every minute you are alive, I fear for my children," Sabrina said honestly.
Mara’s hope crashed as she realized that the once fragile-hearted Sabrina had begun to toughen up.
Nevertheless, Mara felt that this newfound strength was false and would crumble if she continued to plead with Sabrina.
"Please, I will go far away."
Even as Mara spoke, she was in great pain. Her throat was dry and burning from the tubes that had been inserted to pass toxic substances into her body.
The general’s men had informed her that with this substance, she had only three days to live. Even without torture, no doctor would be able to help her.
Mara felt pain everywhere and was already certain that even if they let her go, she would never be the same again.
Suddenly, her face flushed crimson as she let out a scream, although her voice was barely audible due to her depleted energy.
"Please, make them stop," Mara pleaded, her voice still filled with pain. Her entire body throbbed with agony.
Confusion filled the room as everyone looked around. The general’s men were nowhere to be found, leaving them all wondering who Zayla was referring to.
"Stop what?" Sabrina inquired, perplexed.
Mara panted heavily, sweat dripping down her face as she spoke.
"The chair. It sometimes heats up on its own or emits electric-like energy. My sweat exacerbates the situation, and it happens frequently," Mara explained weakly, hoping that Sabrina would assist in freeing her from the chair.
The chair, made of silver, reminded Sabrina of how Mara had trapped her in the room before starting the fire. She simply shrugged, feeling indifferent.
"There’s nothing I can do," Sabrina replied, just as Mara began convulsing from an electrical shock.
"They don’t have much time left," the general stated from behind them. He seemed more concerned about Mara than Martin.
Two of his men stood behind him, awaiting his orders. "Subject her to complete torture," he commanded them.
When Robin informed the general of his impending arrival, the general made the decision to proceed with the torture, since he would be travelling in a few hours.
One of the bodyguards held a plastic bag, its contents unknown to everyone until it was placed over Mara’s face and securely tied.
All they could see were the movements within the bag as Mara fought for her life, her limbs bound to the chair, rendering her helpless.
The chair delivered electric shocks while whatever was covering her face caused her to bleed from her face to her neck.
"Is there something inside the bag?" Matilda asked, her voice filled with horror.
"They are special torturous creatures," the general replied with a sinister smile. "They will devour anything when placed under stress. I won’t disclose their name."
The sight was too much for Sabrina, who was on the verge of vomiting once again. She could barely handle it when the bag was finally removed, and Robin followed suit.
Upon their return, they discovered Mara’s lifeless body sprawled on the floor, her eyes, half of her nose, and mouth missing.
"She’s dead," the general announced. "I saved the most gruesome part for the women to witness."
Mara’s corpse was equally horrifying, a sight that was difficult to bear.
"I want her cremated, and her ashes scattered across different parts of the continent. Even if she has the chance to be reborn, she will have no body to inhabit," Robin declared.
"Consider it done," the general chuckled. Even in death, Mara received no mercy, bringing her tragic tale to a close.
"So, what about him?" Daniel asked, referring to Martin.
The general turned towards Martin and smiled. "He’s been unconscious for quite some time, but we have a surefire way to wake him up."
"How can he be so deeply unconscious that he can’t hear anything?" Devin asked, surprised by Martin’s profound sleep. The general explained,
"I allowed my men to have their way with him. I’m not sure how far they went, as my only instruction was for him to stay alive."
He motioned to one of his men, who promptly poured ice-cold water over Martin’s head. Martin shivered and jolted awake. Upon seeing Mara’s lifeless body, fear gripped him, intensifying the shivers, and he began to plead.
"Devin, please help me."
