Chapter 135: 134: But this is a fact, baby
"What’s the point?" Shi Wei furrowed his brow slightly, his toes unconsciously aiming toward the direction of the food section, as if preparing to step forward at any moment.
The man’s eyes were anxious, his speech quickened significantly, causing the cashier to also feel inexplicably tense.
"It’s good for replenishing blood and regulating health, you should grab a few extra boxes." Without lifting his head, he increased the speed of scanning the items.
Shi Wei walked over and grabbed all the ginger sugar tea from that row, placing them amidst the pile of goods.
He leaned forward slightly, pulling down several plastic bags from behind the counter, and packed all the scanned items into them.
When he exited the convenience store, the man had both hands completely occupied with plastic bags.
As hurriedly as he came, he rushed back home, pouring the colorful contents of the bags onto the lazy couch.
"Zhizhi, are you alright?" Shi Wei tore open a blue package casually without waiting for her reply, pressed down the bathroom door handle, and pushed the door open.
The sudden sound startled Yu Zhi, who froze and looked at the man blankly for two seconds, forgetting to make any action to cover herself.
"Why did you come in?" She pursed her lips tightly, the blush on her ear tips slowly deepening in color, her clear voice tinged with a trace of shyness.
Shi Wei stuffed the item into the girl’s hand and pinched her soft cheeks. "It’s not like I haven’t seen you before. Hurry and put it on."
At his reminder, the girl belatedly realized that she was still bare-legged.
"Shi Wei, go out quickly..." She crossed her arms over herself in a hurry, her long lashes trembling uncontrollably.
Even though they had already shared moments of the utmost intimacy, she still became easily embarrassed in front of him, like a startled little rabbit.
Shi Wei’s gaze lingered on her hands for two seconds, the deep black of his eyes carrying a hint of amusement. He kissed her forehead lightly before shutting the door behind him.
A while later, the sound of the toilet flushing echoed again, and the girl walked out hesitantly, her head bowed, standing in place for a moment.
Without hearing the man’s familiar voice, she curiously glanced toward the bedroom and realized he wasn’t there at all.
Yu Zhi didn’t think much of it, pulling the blanket open before lying down. She leaned against the headboard to take a deep breath, adjusting into a comfortable position to ease the soreness in her back.
Just as she turned to the side, she noticed the sofa littered with various women’s supplies. Perhaps due to the man’s earlier haste, one of the plastic bags had even slipped onto the carpet.
"Zhizhi, have some ginger tea." Shi Wei sat at the edge of the bed with a bowl in his hand, gently tapping the nose of the dazed girl.
"Shi Wei." When he extended his hand, Yu Zhi instinctively nestled into the crook of his arm.
A subtle smile curved at her lips; her mood was unmistakably good.
The girl’s closeness brought joy to Shi Wei. He pulled her even tighter into his arms, blew on the spoon of ginger tea to make sure it wasn’t too hot, and then brought it to her lips.
The ginger taste was faint, almost entirely masked by the sweet aroma of brown sugar. As the warmth touched her stomach, her lower abdomen didn’t feel as uncomfortable anymore.
Yu Zhi didn’t dislike the flavor but, feeling a bit full, she turned away after only drinking half, refusing to let the man continue feeding her.
"Not drinking anymore?" Shi Wei gently wiped the water stains from her lips with his fingertip, gazing at her tenderly.
The girl murmured in response, pushing aside the hand holding the bowl and drooping her eyelids as she yawned softly.
For some reason, drowsiness quickly overtook her.
Shi Wei set the bowl down on the bedside table, turned off the overhead chandelier, and lay down beside her, holding her as they reclined.
"Zhizhi, does your stomach hurt?" The man rubbed her stomach gently while patting her back rhythmically.
While boiling the ginger tea downstairs, he’d made a point to research things she might need to pay attention to, worried about any discomfort she might feel.
The girl buried herself in his chest, curling her arms around his lean waist, shaking her head softly.
"Good girl, sleep." Seeing how exhausted she was, Shi Wei softened his motions on her back, making them gentler.
The bedside lamp’s warm yellow hue enveloped the man’s face, softening his features and lighting up the quiet longing in his eyes.
**
The next day.
The sky was just turning light, but the bedroom remained shrouded in darkness, with no sunlight seeping through the window.
Meanwhile, the girl on the bed had already opened her eyes, not because she wanted to wake early, but because the man behind her was... a bit much.
Yu Zhi flushed a bright red, quietly shifting to the side in an attempt to escape his embrace.
But as soon as she moved a little, the man clung to her again, his arm tightening possessively around her waist as though afraid she might slip away.
"Shi Wei..." she called out softly.
"Are you awake?"
The girl called his name twice in succession, anxiously waiting but receiving no response, which only made her more unsettled.
Minutes ticked by until she couldn’t bear it anymore. Finally, she turned and gave him a push.
The man, still lost in his dreams, was jolted awake by her motion.
"Zhizhi, what’s wrong?" Shi Wei, his eyes half-closed with sleep, gazed at the little figure beside him, confusion flooding his gaze.
His already husky voice gained an early-morning rasp, a certain intimacy layered within the sound that made her ears burn for no reason.
"Why are you..." Yu Zhi didn’t finish, abruptly cutting off her words after noticing something under her. Then, quickly shifting her gaze, she stammered, "It’s still morning."
Shi Wei raised an eyebrow, hesitating for a few seconds before realizing what she meant.
Facing her directly, he lifted the blanket for a quick glance and smirked faintly as his lips curled.
"Zhizhi, this isn’t my fault." The man took hold of the girl’s wrist, pulling her effortlessly into his embrace.
He kissed the corner of her lips, his pitch-black eyes concealing the deep emotions surging within. "It’s your fault for being too irresistible to him."
Warm breaths spread across her skin, and Yu Zhi’s neck turned visibly pink.
She clenched her fingers nervously, her voice trembling slightly as she responded, "Stop saying such things."
"But it’s the truth, darling."
The word "darling" immediately reminded Yu Zhi of the night he had murmured that phrase softly in her ear.
"If you keep this up, I won’t sleep with you anymore." Her hands clutched at the sheets, suddenly pulling them up to cover her entire head.
"You don’t have to sleep with me." Shi Wei teased as his fingers tickled the soft spot on her waist, playfully stroking it. "We can do something else instead?"
Without waiting for her to respond, he slid under the blanket, pinning her wrists above her head and trailing kisses from her brow down to her lips.
"Shi Wei... not now." The girl turned her head away, halting his movements.
"Then shouldn’t you make it up to me?"
Shi Wei, knowing full well that she was on her period, didn’t cross any lines. What he truly sought was only one thing—her affection as compensation.
