Chapter 370: Complex Emotions
Chapter 370: Chapter 370: Complex Emotions
"How will she? Until one of us tells her." Gu Aihan’s soft voice sounded.
Gu Jin rewind the conversation in her mind and concluded.
Maybe Nan Bei wanted to have a duel to force Gu Jin to reveal her undead element and make everyone see the difference between her skeleton warrior and the undead.
Gu Jin’s expression turned grave. No.
Her necromancy element was now becoming a dangerous weakness that might be exposed at any moment.
After some thought, she returned to her room and entered her space.
"I want a book on how to summon skeleton warrior without necromancy element."
Gu Jin waited for a long time but got no response.
The space’s cute voice sounded,
"Master I don’t think there exists such a book."
Gu Jin gritted her teeth, "You mean to say there is no such method or no one thought about writing such a book."
"The latter." The space replied in a leisurely tone.
Gu Jin heaved a sigh of relief.
With how things were, it would be a miracle for necromancers to write any method to disguise their skeleton warrior.
It means, that though books do not exist, a method to hide her skeleton warrior should exist, right?
Gu Jin exited the space and walked up to the library.
She spent her entire day in the library but got no answer.
Just as she returned to her room, she saw a strawberry cake placed on her table. For a moment, Gu Jin’s eyes flashed with mixed emotions.
She was truly confused.
She hated Long Yifan, for taking her love for granted and choosing Gu Aihan.
She was grateful to him for saving her and protecting her in the Forgotten Elemental World.
She was surprised that Long Yifan knew about her preference for strawberry cake.
And she was a bit touched when she saw him as her instructor.
But then again, she had promised to try to love Luo Meng, so she could only reject Long Yifan’s advances.
Closing her eyes, Gu Jin took a deep breath.
’No, don’t give him a second chance. You should move on with Luo Meng! Long Yifan saved you in the Forgotten Elemental World to reduce his guilt!
He even lied to you about his mother, just to retain a connection with the Gu Family! He is disgusting!’
..............
In Long Yifan’s dorm room.
Long Yifan kept on tossing and turning, but couldn’t sleep at all.
In his mind, the image of Gu Jin and Luo Meng walking together flashed.
Will they get together?
Will Gu Jin start to like Luo Meng?
No, right?
Once Luo Meng tells the truth to Gu Jin, surely she will come back to him, right?
Should he tell her everything, about how much he had sacrificed? Maybe then, she will give him a second glance.
No! You can’t! She is living a good life! You shouldn’t ruin it!
Long Yifan gritted his teeth.
Many thoughts flashed in his mind.
He never knew sleeping could be this difficult.
Finally, he sat up and decided to cultivate.
Taking a deep breath, he tried to focus. He sat cross-legged on the floor, attempting to enter a meditative state.
But every time he closed his eyes, the image of Gu Jin laughing with Luo Meng popped into his head, her smile so genuine it made his chest tighten.
"Get a grip," he muttered to himself, slapping his cheeks lightly to snap out of it.
He thought about everything he had done for her in the past—the sacrifices, the sleepless nights, the risks he had taken.
And yet, here he was, left behind while she moved forward, growing stronger, more untouchable.
"Maybe it’s my fault," he whispered. "Maybe I should’ve told her how I felt back then."
But he hadn’t. He’d chosen to stay silent, thinking he was protecting her, giving her space to grow without any added burden.
Now he wasn’t so sure it had been the right choice.
If anyone asked him whether he regretted it or not, he would reply, that he did.
Having no choice, he decided to call his butler.
The knowledge that Gu Jin liked strawberry cake was also told to him by the butler.
The head butler picked up Long Yifan’s call in one ring.
"Hello. Young Master?"
"Yes Butler Fei, I wanted to ask if there is anything else that Gu Jin likes?"
The head butler Fei was in a dilemma. For a moment he regretted not agreeing to Gu Jin’s suggestion 4 years ago.
If only he had let Gu Jin kidnap Long Yifan 4 years ago, then his young master wouldn’t be suffering so much today.
Now see...Gu Jin has already given up, while his young master still has not gotten over Gu Jin.
Well...who would have thought that Gu Jin was the true young miss of the Gu Family?
Life is truly unpredictable.
"Butler Fei? " Long Yifan called out.
Butler Fei sighed softly, composing himself before responding.
"Yes, Young Master," he said, his tone calm but hesitant.
"Gu Jin had a fondness for oranges, especially the ones bought from Hua Country. She also enjoys painting, though she rarely talks about it."
Long Yifan’s brows furrowed as he listened. Oranges? Painting? These were details he hadn’t known before.
"Why didn’t you tell me this earlier?" he asked, frustration lacing his voice.
"You never asked, Young Master," Butler Fei replied, his tone gentle but firm. "And to be fair, you’ve always been... preoccupied with other matters."
Long Yifan fell silent. Butler Fei wasn’t wrong.
He had been too focused on his own emotions, his guilt, and his indecision to notice the smaller things about Gu Jin.
"Do you think... I still have a chance?" he asked quietly, almost afraid of the answer.
The butler hesitated for a moment.
"Young Master, you’ve made mistakes, as has she. But relationships are built on trust, understanding, and mutual effort. If you truly wish to mend things, you must be honest with her—about everything."
"I did try that...but she didn’t believe me." Long Yifan said softly.
Butler Fei turned silent.
Long Yifan not wanting to make the atmosphere stiff, suddenly asked,
"Well...can you tell me what method to achieve me, she used to talk about earlier? Maybe I can use her methods."
Butler Fei froze and after hesitant seconds, he said,
"Master...I don’t think so, you can try those methods."
Long Yifan raised an eyebrow at Butler Fei’s cryptic response.
"What do you mean I can’t try them?" he asked, his voice laced with suspicion.
The butler coughed awkwardly, clearly debating how much he should reveal.
"Well... the methods Miss Gu Jin used to talk about were, uh, unconventional."
"Unconventional how?" Long Yifan pressed, now fully intrigued.
Butler Fei sighed deeply.
"Four years ago, Miss Gu Jin came to me with a... proposal. She suggested kidnapping you."
Long Yifan nearly dropped his phone.
"Kidnapping me?" he repeated, his tone incredulous.
"Yes, Young Master," Butler Fei admitted, his voice filled with reluctant honesty.
"Her logic was that if she couldn’t convince you to stay with her, she would keep you close by force until you eventually fell for her again."
For a moment, silence filled the air as Long Yifan tried to process what he’d just heard.
"She really said that?" he asked, half in disbelief and half... amused.
"Yes, Young Master," Butler Fei confirmed. "I, of course, dissuaded her from taking such extreme measures..."
"Why?" Long Yifan almost shouted.
"Huh?" Butler Fei was a bit taken by such a question.
Long Yifan gritted his teeth and repeated,
"Why did you stop her..."
If only...if only he could go back in the past...
He would have tied himself and delivered himself to Gu Jin.
Butler Fei froze at Long Yifan’s outburst, unsure of how to respond.
"Young Master," he said carefully,
"I didn’t think it was appropriate. It’s not exactly... ethical to allow someone to kidnap you, no matter the intention."
Long Yifan laughed bitterly, running a hand through his hair.
"Ethical? Do you think anything about my life has been ethical? Maybe if you hadn’t stopped her, things wouldn’t be such a mess now."
Butler Fei sighed.
"Young Master, I understand you’re frustrated. But relationships aren’t something that can be forced. Miss Gu Jin needed to grow, and so did you. I believed it was for the best at the time."
"Well, it wasn’t," Long Yifan muttered, his voice heavy with regret.
Butler Fei hesitated before speaking again.
"If you truly wish things had been different, why not focus on what you can do now? Dwelling on the past won’t change it."
Long Yifan sat back in his chair, staring at the ceiling.
"What I can do now... I’ve tried everything, Fei. She’s with Luo Meng now. She doesn’t trust me anymore. What else can I do?"
"Be sincere, Young Master," Butler Fei replied.
"Apologize for your mistakes. Show her you’ve changed—not through grand gestures, but through your actions. And if she still doesn’t come back to you... then you’ll need to accept that and let her go."
"Let her go..." Long Yifan whispered the words as if they were foreign to him.
