Chapter 365: Training Session
Chapter 365: Chapter 365: Training Session
Gu Jin opted for the fire and thunder departments. For her minor, she chose alchemy and magic seeking.
As for the extra class, she had opted for combat training and Rune engraving.
Instead of reporting to the respective department, she had to visit the training field at Beijing University.
Along with her, all the freshers were hailed there.
Compared to the cold indifference she had faced before, the students around her were much more enthusiastic.
"Hello, I am Ning Dong. I just saw how beautiful you are and wanted to have a conversation with you. Can we exchange contacts?" One of the female classmates asked as she stared at Gu Jin with bright eyes.
Gu Jin was dumbfounded, before she could react though, all the other female classmates started to surround her.
"Hii, I want to be friends with you too!"
"Me too."
"I have admired your talents for a long time. I want to be your friend too."
Gu Jin stared at her female classmates with a calm face.
Suddenly all of them want to become her friend. She doesn’t know if it was her charm or her status.
Just then a slightly stern voice sounded,
"Move aside."
The female classmates surrounding Gu Jin instantly moved a bit away and Yan Mei slowly walked up to Gu Jin.
She flashed a brilliant smile to Gu Jin and said,
"I must say, you are pretty famous."
Gu Jin chuckled, "Is that so?"
Yan Mei nodded, then with a solemn expression asked,
"Do you know where Gu Aihan is? I am trying to find her, but I couldn’t see her."
"Why do you even want to see her?" Gu Jin asked with a confused expression.
"I just want to teach her a lesson." Yan Mei gritted her teeth.
The other female classmates who had been silent till now suddenly nodded their heads,
"Me too!"
"Me too!"
Yan Mei rolled her eyes,
"Why are you all even saying anything? Do you think I don’t remember all the things you have said behind Gu Jin’s back."
Then without giving those female classmates any chance to retort, she turned toward Gu Jin and said in a serious voice,
"Don’t trust any of them. These students at first wanted to befriend you, but when Gu Aihan started the rumor in the group chat that you were seducing her boyfriend, they instantly believed her.
If they truly wanted to befriend you, they would have never believed Gu Aihan’s words in the first place."
One of the female classmates didn’t stay quiet and spoke up, her face red with embarrassment.
"Hey, that’s not fair! We didn’t know the truth back then. Gu Aihan made it sound so real!"
Yan Mei scoffed, crossing her arms.
"Oh, so you just blindly follow rumors? That’s not what real friends do."
The other female classmates looked awkward, shuffling their feet and avoiding Gu Jin’s gaze.
Gu Jin, however, stayed calm. Her expression didn’t change as she looked at the group.
"It doesn’t matter. I don’t need fake friends."
The bluntness of her words made everyone flinch. Yan Mei smirked, clearly pleased with Gu Jin’s response.
Unsatisfied, a few female classmates muttered under their breath,
"Gu Aihan had warned us, that if any of us try to help or befriend Gu Jin, she will make our family’s companies bankrupt!"
Gu Jin raised an eyebrow.
She truly didn’t expect Gu Aihan to go to such lengths to isolate her.
That would explain why nobody from the class ever thought of defending her or making friends with her.
Suddenly she heard a loud voice,
"Please stand on the side."
A young man with spectacles walked toward her. Then suddenly he knelt and announced loudly,
"Miss Gu Jin, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?"
Silence.
The atmosphere turned silent.
Gu Jin stared at the young man kneeling in front of her. His sudden confession caught everyone by surprise.
Yan Mei blinked a few times, then burst out laughing.
"Wow, bold move! Who even are you?"
The guy adjusted his glasses nervously but kept his gaze steady on Gu Jin.
"My name is Lin Rui. I’ve admired you for a long time. I... I want to protect you and stand by your side."
The crowd around them started whispering.
"Is he serious?"
"Gu Jin is so popular now; no wonder people are confessing to her!"
"She’s not going to say yes, right? I mean, she barely talks to anyone."
Gu Jin’s expression didn’t change. She looked down at Lin Rui and said in a calm voice,
"Stand up."
Lin Rui hesitated, then stood, brushing dust off his pants.
"So, what do you think? Will you give me a chance?"
Gu Jin’s eyes were cold as she replied,
"I don’t even know you. How can I say yes to something like this?"
The crowd fell silent again, and Lin Rui’s face turned red.
"I... I was hoping we could get to know each other," he stammered.
Yan Mei smirked and crossed her arms.
"Dude, maybe try talking to her first before dropping a bomb like that."
Before Lin Rui could say anything else, Instructor Zhao’s voice boomed across the field.
"What’s going on here? Why is there a commotion?"
The students quickly scattered back to their lines, and Lin Rui stepped away, his face still red.
Gu Jin returned to her spot, her expression as calm as ever.
Instructor Zhao scanned the crowd, his eyes narrowing.
"This is not a place for distractions. Focus on the training or leave. Understood?"
"Yes, Instructor!" the students chorused.
The atmosphere shifted back to seriousness but whispers about the confession still lingered.
Yan Mei leaned closer to Gu Jin and whispered, "Looks like you’ve got a fan club now. You’re really making waves."
Gu Jin sighed softly. "It’s just a distraction."
Yan Mei grinned.
Instructor Zhou calmly asked the students to form a line and announced,
"Due to some issues, this year’s training will conducted by the seniors."
"Huh? Why? Teacher this is not allowed!" One of the students commented.
Beijing University was a prestigious university. Students from all over the nation entered it in the first place to learn from the best.
Each teacher of Beijing University was over overachiever in their youth. They surpassed their peers and hence were hired as a teacher.
Now with the sudden announcement, the students started murmuring among themselves.
"Why are seniors handling the training? Isn’t this supposed to be led by the professors?"
"This is so unfair! I wanted to learn from the best!"
Gu Jin stood quietly, observing the commotion without saying anything. Yan Mei, on the other hand, crossed her arms and muttered,
"This is weird. What’s going on?"
Instructor Zhao clapped his hands loudly, silencing the murmurs.
"Enough! This decision comes from the university administration. If you have complaints, take them up with the principal."
The students fell silent, though some still wore unhappy expressions.
Just then, a group of seniors walked onto the training field.
They carried an air of confidence and authority, their uniforms sharper and their demeanor more disciplined.
The one in the lead, a tall young man with short black hair and piercing blue eyes, stepped forward.
He glanced over the crowd and said in a firm voice,
"Freshmen, I am Senior Long Yifan, and I’ll be overseeing your training. If you want to survive here, you better listen carefully."
"What? Long Yifan? Man! He is one of the losers! Why is he even allowed to teach us!"
"Exactly!"
"His cultivation is even less than mine! How can he be our instructor!"
"I refuse to learn from such a weak person! Other than his arrogant persona, nothing about him is good."
"Hu...he is handsome though. Just my type."
"Exactly. As long as he holds my hand and leads me, I am ready to work 1000 times more than I do usually!"
"Hey, stop being overdramatic! He might be here for Gu Jin."
"Her? Oh! Right! He is her fiance, right?"
"Tsk...tsk... did he bribe the principal to become our instructor?"
The murmurs grew louder, and Instructor Zhao frowned. "Silence!" he barked, his voice sharp.
The students quieted down, but their eyes were still filled with doubt and curiosity as they glanced at Long Yifan.
Long Yifan’s expression didn’t change.
"Done gossiping?" Long Yifan said coolly. "If you think I’m not qualified, feel free to step forward and prove me wrong."
A bold male student finally spoke up, his arms crossed.
"Prove you’re worthy first. Why should we follow someone weaker than us?"
Long Yifan smirked, his blue eyes glinting. "What’s your name?"
The boy puffed up his chest. "Zhao Ming."
"Alright, Zhao Ming," Long Yifan said, taking a step forward. "Attack me. Let’s see how strong you are."
The crowd gasped.
"What? He’s letting a student attack him?"
"This is going to be embarrassing for him."
Zhao Ming hesitated for a moment but quickly regained his confidence. "Fine! Don’t regret it! Senior."
