Chapter 299: Chapter 299: Similar Rooms
Gu Jin scoffed.
"Suspicious? What’s your argument? That I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time?"
Before either woman could respond, Gu Jin’s gaze sharpened, and with a subtle gesture, vines sprouted from the ground, winding around the two women’s ankles and lifting them several inches off the ground.
They shrieked, clutching at the vines in panic, trying to free themselves, but Gu Jin’s hold was unyielding.
"Now," she said, "you’re going to tell me exactly why you decided to make me a scapegoat for your so-called ’Goddess’s’ failure. Was it to make her look infallible, or are you just desperate to blame someone else?"
The taller girl’s defiance faltered as she dangled mid-air, eyes wide with anger,
"W-We’re not lying! Goddess Gu... she... she said it was because of you! You’re the one who caused the portal to destabilize!"
"Oh?" Gu Jin’s eyebrow arched as she released the vines slightly, letting them drop to a less uncomfortable height.
"So, she told you directly that it was me, did she?"
Neither woman could meet her gaze as they muttered,
"Well... not directly. But she implied it! And it made sense... given you were the only one who entered the Ancient Magic World that day."
"So no proof then. Just her implication, and your blind loyalty." Gu Jin’s smirk widened as she addressed the crowd, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
"Good to know the students here value solid reasoning so much."
At her words, the two women paled, realizing the position they were now in.
They had overestimated their influence, and now they were exposed in front of the entire student body.
The onlookers murmured louder, some even laughing at the spectacle as they reassessed their opinions of Gu Jin.
"What if... what if it really wasn’t her?" someone whispered, loud enough to be heard.
"That makes sense... no one even saw her near the portal controls. And if Goddess Gu didn’t specifically say it..."
As the crowd continued to waver, Gu Jin gave one final warning look to the two women.
"If you’re going to pick a fight, next time bring some evidence instead of empty accusations."
She released her hold on the vines, and the two women stumbled as they landed, clearly humiliated.
"Next time pick your target carefully. I will not hesitate to teach a lesson to brats like you." Gu Jin rolled her eyes and walked toward the admission desk.
After confirming her admission, Gu Jin got her dorm room number.
Beijing University was vast like a city. Though its size was nothing comparable to a city, it had everything, ranging from shops to food stalls.
It was like a small separate world.
The university was surrounded by high walls inscribed with the runes. According to Gu Jin, the runes might be the reason why no beast could attack or enter the university.
In the center was a colosseum made of glass, it was the university. On each side of the Colosseum were two towers which were made of glass, that glowed with a shade of yellow and orange which might have been caused by the lights inside the building.
It was Beijing University.
At a distance of 5 km to the left of the Colosseum was an empty ground where food stalls and magic stalls were situated.
On the right of the Colosseum two modern buildings, which was the dormitory. Just outside the dormitory was some general shop.
There was also a gym, a gaming area, a swimming pool, an open assembly ground, a battle arena, as well as a huge forest.
All in all, it was like a huge city.
Remembering about the fees Gu Jin’s lips twitched.
200 million yuan per year.
Ah! Truly... it was worth it.
At least thinking in that way reduced her heart ache.
Gu Jin slowly walked toward her dorm unaware that her fight at the gate of the university had caused a huge commotion.
On the campus forum, a topic suddenly went on trending.
#I Met A Cold Beauty At University Gate. Does Anyone Know Her Name?#
With that was attached a video of Gu Jin and the two women.
At first, no one paid any attention to the video, however when due to Gu Jin’s face on a thumbnail, some people couldn’t help but become curious and click on the video.
When they saw the video, they were stunned by Gu Jin’s aura, looks, and reasoning. Some of them were totally captured by Gu Jin’s beauty and started to comment.
"Is she a freshman? She looks like she could take down half the campus with just a glare!"
"Forget her looks—did you see her control over those vines? She’s definitely very powerful! Makes me wonder what course she’s in."
"LOL, those two girls must be regretting their life choices right about now."
"Can we talk about her roasting them with facts? If she keeps that up, the school forums are going to be a lot more interesting!"
One user chimed in, "I’m betting she’s in Plant Department. No way she’d have such mastery otherwise."
Others debated her possible background:
"She’s probably from a prestigious clan, given how calm she was dealing with all that."
"Nah, she doesn’t seem stuck up like those clan types. More like... a hidden expert?"
Meanwhile, a few trolls appeared, ridiculing the two girls who had attempted to block her entrance.
"Those gate guardians just got owned, lol. Talk about biting off more than they could chew."
"This is what happens when you idolize someone without knowing the full story. Guess they’ll think twice before starting rumors next time."
Gu Jin soon reached her room and opened the door with the room card.
Unlike other universities that give their students a chance to rent outside the university, Beijing Univeristy was different. All the students were expected to stay in the dorm.
They can leave the dorm whenever they want to, but they can’t stay out at night until and unless they have taken a leave, or out for competition, have special permission, or have joined some mercenary group.
The moment Gu Jin entered the room her eyes widened slightly.
She repeatedly blinked her eyes and even rubbed it to ensure she wasn’t dreaming.
The room was exactly like she had seen in her dream.
(Author: Refer to Chapter 245)
The theme color of the room was black and gold, while the architecture was a bit European type.
There was a huge bed, and a study table, and right above the study table was a window.
There was a bookshelf, a few pictures, a door that might lead to a bathroom, and a small balcony.
Unlike the dream, the study table was clean. However, Gu Jin was sure that if she put some books which she would eventually do, then...the entire room would look like the room she had seen in her dream.
If the room from her dream could turn out real then does that mean...
Gu Jin quickly shook her head.
What was she thinking?
How could Long Yifan kiss her? Not to mention, she had already thought of never looking in his direction.
Maybe it was a coincidence.
But how can the room which she had never seen appear in her dream?
Gu Jin took a deep breath, trying to shake off the strange déjà vu.
She moved over to the bed and sat down, running her fingers along the edges of the golden frame, feeling the reality of the room settle around her.
It was too detailed, too specific—exactly like her dream.
But dreams didn’t come true... did they?
"Coincidence," she muttered to herself, but the unease gnawed at her.
To distract herself, she unpacked her things, arranging her books on the shelf and setting up her study table just like in her dream.
As each item found its place, the room morphed even more into the one from her vision, making her heart race.
She half-expected Long Yifan to walk in, but she shook her head.
"No," she whispered firmly, as if saying it aloud would erase the thought.
After settling in, Gu Jin decided to explore the campus a bit more, hoping some fresh air would help clear her head.
She took her phone with her, noticing a surge of notifications from the campus forum.
Curiosity got the best of her, and she opened the thread.
The forum was abuzz with posts and comments, mostly praise and speculation about her identity.
She couldn’t help but smirk at the comments:
"Bet she’s here on some special scholarship! No way would someone that cool be ordinary."
"Can anyone confirm her name? Seriously, I’d join her class just to watch her roast people."
Someone had even attempted to guess her magical specialization and the ongoing debate between the "Plant Department" and "Ice Department."
Why did they even categorize her as Ice Mage? After scrolling for a while Gu Jin got her answer.
Because of her cold aura, the students thought she possessed the ice element.
