Chapter 285: The Real Identity
Chapter 285: Chapter 285: The Real Identity
"You have the same surname as me?" Gu Jichun asked. "Are you perhaps one of the branch members of the Gu Family in the capital? Wait! No! You said you are an orphan..."
"Yes. I am an orphan." Gu Jin nodded.
"From the moment I ended up in the orphanage, my life was miserable because I couldn’t awaken mana. I was bullied by other orphans.
Due to my beauty, they used to beat me and torture me. Sometimes our teacher at the orphanage used to ask us please older man who would molest us."
"What? How could they? What is the name of the orphanage? Tell me! I will take revenge on your behalf! Those ba*stards!" Gu Jichun was filled with anger.
From the moment she knew Gu Jin was an orphan and suffered so much, her heart was filled with unspoken anger, and she wanted nothing more than to burn the entire orphanage.
At the same time, she felt pity for the little Gu Jin.
"That was not all. I had to suffer for 10 years because I couldn’t awaken any mana. It was to the point that I wanted to commit suicide.
I was so stressed out by all the bullying and disappointment that I wanted to give up on everything." Gu Jin said continued.
She was talking about the original owner’s feelings. Who eventually gave up. But if she was in the original owner’s place she wouldn’t have killed herself.
No.
If she was the original owner, she would proven all of them wrong and shown them that they were nothing in front of her.
Which she eventually did.
Gu Jichun’s heart ached and she wrapped her arms around Gu Jin’s waist who winced in pain.
"Ah...I am sorry. I...I just felt..." Gu Jichun couldn’t finish her words as tears started to pool in her eyes.
"It’s alright." Gu Jin smiled. "Do you know what happened later? I eventually found out the problem treated it from the root, awakened mana, became one of the best mages in my magic school, and owned a business of my own."
Gu Jichun couldn’t stop herself from smiling,
"Wow."
"But it doesn’t change the fact that I once indeed wanted to commit suicide."
Gu Jin’s voice grew softer, her gaze distant as she continued.
"I had reached my breaking point. The constant bullying, the isolation, the feeling of worthlessness... it was unbearable.
I didn’t think I could survive it. But, like you, something kept me from ending it all. It was a small glimmer of hope, a desperate need to prove that I wasn’t as weak as they made me feel."
Gu Jichun stared at her, captivated by the vulnerability in Gu Jin’s words.
Gu Jin continued her voice steady but with an undercurrent of determination.
"I’m telling you this, Jichun, because I understand what you’re going through. I know what it’s like to feel like you’ve lost everything and that no one cares whether you live or die. But trust me... there’s always a reason to keep going."
Jichun’s breath hitched, and her eyes stung a little.
"You don’t have to die to escape, Jichun," Gu Jin said, her hand still firmly holding onto Jichun’s.
"You can rebuild, just like I did. You can find strength in yourself and start a new life, free from the shadows of Gu Aihan and your parents. You deserve to live, to be happy. Don’t let them take that away from you."
Tears welled up in Jichun’s eyes, but this time they weren’t just tears of sadness.
There was a flicker of something else—hope.
For the first time in years, someone had seen her pain, truly understood it, and wasn’t offering her empty platitudes or pity. Gu Jin was offering her a way out, a chance to reclaim her life.
"But I..." Jichun’s voice cracked. " We are different, at least your reputation wasn’t destroyed in the entire capital. Mine has destroyed beyond recognition."
"Is it? Then I will help you to restore it." Gu Jin smiled.
"No. It won’t change anything." Gu Jichun shook her head with sadness in her eyes, "she would again ruin it."
A hint of fear flashed in Gu Jichun’s eyes, which Gu Jin caught.
Was it like this?
Gu Jin chuckled,
"You don’t need to worry. I will make sure, no one can ruin your reputation."
If Gu Aihan was hell-bent on ruining Gu Jichun’s reputation then...she can’t blame her for being ruthless.
Anyways with one less white lotus in the world, nothing would happen.
At most the Gu Family would try to kill her, right? She could deal with them.
Gu Jin suddenly extended her hand and held Gu Jichun’s hand,
"Since we have the same surname and you have saved me, will it be okay if I call you sister?"
Gu Jichun’s lips twitch.
Gu Jin was currently not in her best condition. She looked like black charcoal, to make it worse she was even acting cute. With the eerie red eyes, she looked like a villain but Gu Jichun felt as if she was very cute.
"Okay. Then I will be your Big Sister Gu from now on."
Gu Jin smiled brightly.
"Now you should rest, once your face becomes recognizable, we will leave."
Gu Jin became confused, but when Gu Jichun handed her the mirror, she almost dropped it and shouted,
"Oh my god! Who is this?"
The feeling of staring in the mirror and seeing someone completely different...no...seeing a beast was truly strange.
Gu Jin massaged her temple.
Gu Jichun chuckled,
"You should rest."
"Indeed." Gu Jin said.
For the next week, Gu Jin spent her time recovering her skin.
She never suspected that she would never recover. This confidence was because of the ancient recipe she owned.
On the second day, Gu Jin brewed an ointment for herself and applied it. But the process was very slow. In the end, she decided to use Gu Jichun’s continent.
To her surprise, the ointment worked faster than the ointment made by her.
By the 5th day, Gu Jin completely recovered her skin.
Her hairs were a problem though. Gu Jin had to cut off all of her hair and use a hair-growing medicine.
Thankful, her hair grew to her shoulders by the 5th day.
Gu Jin thought if she was on earth, at least 5 months would be needed to grow hairs to the shoulder length.
However, what made Gu Jin confused was Gu Jichun’s behavior.
As she recovered her looks, Gu Jichun kept on muttering that Gu Jin looked very familiar to her, but she couldn’t remember where she had seen Gu Jin.
On the 6th day, Gu Jichun commented,
"I think you might be related to the bloodline of our Gu Family. You look so much like...uh! I can’t f*cking point it out! Wait! Can you give me your hair strands? I will conduct a DNA test between us and know whether we are related or not."
Gu Jin thought of the possibilities Liang Bao and Lu Siyao had told her,
"Sure."
Gu Jichun plucked a few strands and put them in the storage ring.
Suddenly she paused and asked,
"Why did you and Gu Aihan have a feud in the first place?"
Gu Jin chuckled,
"Would you believe if I say...I didn’t even know about her existence until and unless she attacked. Hm...to be precise she wanted me to be killed even before we met.
It was truly strange that...even I started to suspect whether I was related to the Gu Family and she knew of some secret."
Gu Jichun’s eyes widened and a thought appeared in her mind, her expression changed, but soon she forced herself to remain calm.
"Gu Jin, is there someone else who suspects that you are related to the Gu Family?"
"Hm?" Gu Jin raised an eyebrow and thought for a while before replying,
"I think a girl named Jin Mu, I met her during one of the adventures. When I was admitted to the hospital she hugged me and plucked out my hair strands, she thought she was being discreet, but I noticed it."
"Jin Mu?" Gu Jichun’s eyes widened but her heart was beating with excitement.
"You know her?" Gu Jin asked with curiosity.
"Yes, she is my grandmother’s side of the family." Gu Jichun said. But suddenly her eyes widened even more.
Correct!
Correct!
Gu Jin looked just like her grandmother.
If what she was thinking was true...then...Jin Mu was in danger! And Gu Jin was in danger too...
Gu Jichun suddenly hugged Gu Jin and started to sob.
"You...you..." are my sister?
She wanted to ask Gu Jin.
Others didn’t know, but she knew that after her mother gave birth to Gu Aihan, Gu Aihan was stolen for a few minutes.
Her parents were panicked but they soon found Gu Aihan. After which they even conducted a DNA test, which turned out positive, and only then did they ensure that the baby in their hand was Gu Aihan.
However...
However, now it seems everything was fake!
