The Mighty Mage -
Chapter 275: Gu Jishi
Chapter 275: Chapter 275: Gu Jishi
Gu Jin groaned loudly, throwing her hands up in exasperation.
"Why not? Why not just add ’mass murderer’ to my ever-growing list of problems? My life is already a disaster. What’s a little more chaos?"
Si Kai, who had been silently watching, slowly took a step back, his expression a mix of concern and confusion.
"Sister... are you okay?"
"Am I okay?" Gu Jin repeated, turning toward him with a wild look in her eyes.
"Oh, I’m fantastic. I’ve got dangerous magic that wants to kill me, I just had to suck the life force from a parasite that also wants to kill me, and now my very own space—my trusted space—is suggesting that I go on a murder spree to stop imploding! So yeah, I’m just peachy."
However she couldn’t say those words loudly and only smiled at Si Kai,
"For now, you go back into space and rest I will take care of everything else."
Si Kai was worried,
"Sister, are you sure?"
Gu Jin’s face distorted in pain and she suddenly remembered Si Kai’s warning.
He warned that the method required too much luck but...she didn’t believe him.
She swore that next time she would definitely listen to her baby brother.
Taking a deep breath she nodded,
"Yes. But please, do as I say, go back to space and rest."
"But-"
"Do as I say." Gu Jin said with a serious expression on her face. It was the kind of face Si Kai could never oppose.
Reason?
Well though he might act as if he was not afraid of his sister, the truth was he is afraid of his sister’s anger and disappointment.
Gu Jin’s words were said in a small voice and the three light mages who were standing by the side didn’t hear her words at all.
She bowed to them in difficulty, asked for their names, and said in a weak voice,
"I will repay you all for your favor later."
Before the light mages could react, Gu Jin disappeared instantly.
................
After 2 hours.
Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu reached the location where General Gu was present. They bowed to him and reported everything to him.
The more general Gu listened the more astonished he was. With disbelief in his eyes, he asked,
"So you are telling me that because of an undead element awakener, you all were able to win against the parasites at the entrance of the Magic Academy?"
"Yes, General." Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu nodded.
If General Gu wasn’t immersed in his emotions he would have noticed the complex light flashing in both Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu’s eyes.
"Do you know anything else about that undead element mage?" General Gu asked.
After attacking the underground chambers of the magic academy, General Gu realized how wrong he was in his estimation.
The army that was stationed around the artifact was filled with Super Rank level parasites.
As the war started between them General Gu’s face turned dark and he realized how much mistaken he was about the number of the paraiste.
The army looks never-ending to him.
Even after fighting for a long while, he couldn’t see the end of their numbers.
The more battle dragged the more worried he was.
He wasn’t worried about his life. He was worried about his soldiers stationed to fight against the parasites at the magic academy’s entrance.
He could see that more and more parasites were leaving from their side and reinforcing the army at the entrance of the magic academy.
Just as he was about to send a signal to Ren Fulin and others, he realized that the satellite phone had no signal.
And the whistle he had prepared as the signal for later was tampered too.
That was when he realized that there was a traitor among them.
Before he could even inquire the traitor on his own started to attack them.
He mocked them,
"I didn’t expect that you would be able to force my kinds to back out. I must say you all are somewhat powerful.
So you all truly have some trump card. Tsk...tsk...doesn’t matter though. I will clear you all out and my friends(other parasites) will clear out all your soldiers at the entrance of the magic academy. Hehe!"
General Gu and those soldiers watched in horror as the traitor’s skin opened up in a star shape and a horrifying-looking tongue came out.
The parasite was at False Heaven Rank. But General Gu easily dealt with him.
Who would have thought that many False Heaven Rank parasites would arrive at their location soon?
It took them a day and a half to clear out the 20 False Heaven Rank parasites.
After which General Gu hurriedly led the remaining soldiers to turn off the artifact.
They were successful but General Gu didn’t feel an ounce of happiness.
How could he when he had to make so many sacrifices just because of wrong information? How could he when he knew that the second part of the soldiers who he had stationed at the entrance of the magic academy, all might have died?
Yet with trembling hands, he sent the signal.
He hoped that at least one of them would reply if not two.
His heart was heavy and something inside him broke when he thought of how he would have to later collect the bodies of his loyal subordinates who had accompanied him through thick and thin.
He dragged his weak body and soon reached the entrance of the magic academy, to collect the dead bodies of his loyal subordinates.
To his surprise, there weren’t many dead bodies around. No...there were dead bodies but...they were mostly parasites.
General Gu asked his remaining subordinates to search for the dead bodies of his subordinates as he examined the dead bodies of parasites.
Something was very odd about them.
Some of the parasites looked as if they had died from getting their blood sucked and the rest of them looked as if they were killed by mages.
That was the problem.
As far as he remembers he had only sent 50 soldiers. Even if all of them used their magic to fight, they should have run out of mana in 6 hours, right?
After 6 hours, they should have started to use their physical body to fight, right?
If so then there should be more marks of parasites being split in half.
Most importantly the population of 500,000 parasites can be defeated with just 50 solider’s physical strength, right?
Even he...a General of such a high level would require at least 4 days to clear all the parasites out.
Yet...from the battlefield, he can understand that half a day has passed since the battle was over.
So with just 50 tired soldiers, Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu won the battle?
Impossible!
What about the magic attacks?
So does that mean the government had sent a reinforcement?
Hmm...that was not possible...
And even if someone had reinforced them, they should have eventually become tired, right?
How powerful they must be to be able to defeat 500,000 parasites in just 18 hours?
Maybe...maybe if they have infinite mana...
’Infinite mana?’
The moment that thought popped up in General Gu’s mind, news started to flash in his mind.
An artifact that could provide infinite mana has appeared in the mistwood.
General Gu thought for a long time. He tried to link everything but even after a long time, he couldn’t piece all the information.
Just when he was about to give up, Ren Fulin, Feng Boyu, and other remaining soldiers reached in front of him.
General Gu’s eyes moistened when he saw them alive.
For the first time, he didn’t care who was the person who had helped Ren Fulin and others, he was just grateful.
Grateful that, that person arrived at the right time and helped his soldiers.
After asking his soldiers to rest and eat, General Gu started to hear the report from them.
Now, General Gu was so curious about the mysterious Undead awakener that he wanted to make an appointment with that person.
She not only helped his subordinate but also shared high-level healing and mana-recovering pills.
Such a polite kid!
Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu exchanged glances and each of them elbowed each other.
They were subtle at first, but gradually it became so evident that even General Gu who was lost in his thoughts noticed their moment and asked with a frown,
"What happened? If you have something that you want to ask, just say it right away, no need to elbow in such an indecent manner."
Ren Fulin gulped and asked,
"General Gu...you are the eldest young master of the Gu Family, right?"
"Yes." General Gu nodded.
General Gu’s real name was Gu Jishi.
The eldest young master of the Gu Family in the capital. He was said to have a cold nature but only his subordinates in the army knew how kind he was...
