The Mighty Mage
Chapter 276: Unique

Chapter 276: Chapter 276: Unique

Gu Jishi rarely used the name of the Gu Family. Because of his status in the military, he is widely known as the most influential Gu family member.

As the eldest son of the Gu Family, it was expected that he would inherit the Gu corporation.

However, Gu Jishi was much more interested in the military and hence he dumped his responsibility to the second young master of the Gu family and fled to the military.

When the head of the Gu family, Mr. Gu knew about Gu Jishi’s deeds, he was so angry that he almost disowned him.

After a lot of coaxing from Mrs. Gu, Mr. Gu finally took back the letter of disownment. However, he refused to support Gu Jishi and asked him to manage everything on his own.

Gu Jishi being the rebellious kid, swore to not return to the Gi family until and unless he achiver some gran position in the military.

He started his journey from being a normal soldier. He focused on his cultivation, never slacked off, was brave, and showed courage in every task.

Soon his hard work paid off and he was promoted. From then on, Gu Jishi never looked back.

He kept his word and honored Mr. Gu after becoming the youngest General of the entire nation.

Over a period of time, he gained many valuable resources and amassed a wealth of 50 billion yuan.

He was a rich, handsome, powerful, and influential man, whom many women admired.

It was said that Gu Jishi dotted on his sisters a lot. And other than his sisters and mother, he never got involved with any of the women.

He was already in his late 40s, yet he didn’t have any girlfriend or wife, which concerned his parents and the people around him.

Some even started to wonder, whether the General was gay.

However, there was another theory that was going around. Gu Jishi had a woman in his heart, a woman whom he had already married secretly.

No one knew who started the rumor, but 50% of the people believed it.

The only thing they were curious about was...as to why General Gu has kept his marriage hidden.

Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu exchanged glances,

"Hm...So have you...ever met a woman and...had a one-night stand?"

General Gu blinked as if he were processing their words, but in reality, he was just dumbfounded.

"No."

Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu didn’t give up and continued,

"Um...then perhaps...second young master....has he ever had a one night stand?"

"How would I know?" General Gu was confused, however soon his expression turned serious and he scolded them,

"What are you both thinking? Is this time to ask about such a thing? And from when did you both start to get concerned about my and my brother’s personal life?"

"Eh?" Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu were embarrassed before stating,

"We...we think that woman named Gu Jin...she is related to you. How to say it...her red color and hair color are the same as you. Though her facial features are different than yours...but we as if...she is related to you. Hence we are asking whether you have any... one-night stand...during your youthful years?"

Gu Jishi’s eyes widened and he asked,

"What is her age?"

Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu were alarmed.

So their General indeed had one night stand.

Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu couldn’t help but give some extra glances to Gu Jishi.

"Don’t give me those looks and tell me the answer to my question." Gu Jishi frowned. He impatiently tapped on the table, to show them how much hurry he was in.

"Hm...she is around 19 or 20 years old." Ren Fulin answered.

Gu Jishi’s eyes brighetend,

"Where is she?"

"She...."

One week later. City S.

"Have you heard it? Almost 90% of the parasites have been cleared out."

"True. Who would have thought that the parasites who almost succeeded in ruling the City S, would be wiped off so quickly?"

"Our military is very good indeed! But what I can’t understand is why are the helpers of the military wearing black cloaks and masks on their faces the entire time?"

"Idiot! They are not from the military."

"Huh? Then who they are from? Special forces? Or some big groups?"

"No, neither of them. They are subordinates of a woman named Gu Jin."

"Huh? Gu Jin? That is a new name."

"Right? Also, she is the main force in clearing all the parasites. If the military has wiped off 5% of the parasite population, then she has wiped off 85% of the parasites in City S."

"So powerful? How so?"

"It is said that she has an artifact or undead element, which allows her to easily kill the parasites."

"My god! I didn’t even know about this all! No one mentioned her name."

"Heh! It was her personal request not to tell the general public about her existence and sacrifices. However, the military soldiers who were reduced by her didn’t listen to her.

They were grateful for her contribution and didn’t want to take her credit away and hence they unofficially announced it."

"My...my! But there is another company I would like to thank the Alchemy shop named Unique. It has made a major contribution by donating more than 100,000 healing pills of Earth Rank!"

"Yeah!"

"Hey, I have heard another rumor. That woman named Gu Jin is friends with the founder of Unique and she was the one who had asked the owner to make a donation."

"Hey! Hey! We can’t forget about the contribution of the Alchemy Association and other associations. There are also some big groups who have donated."

"By the way, where is Gu Jin now? I want to meet her and thank her on my own. Because of her, my family was saved."

"Her location? The last time I heard any news about her was...she was seen in an alley, fighting with some parasites...however, the way of fighting is truly strange..."

.....................

In the middle of the forest.

Gu Jin bolted through the dense forest, her black cloak billowing behind her as she sprinted after a group of parasites, their grotesque forms scrambling ahead in a panic.

"You cowards!" she shouted, her red eyes gleaming with both irritation and a hint of madness.

"You really think you can outrun me? After all the trouble you’ve caused, do you think you can just run? Pathetic!"

Ahead, one of the parasites, its eyes wide with terror, turned its head slightly and shrieked,

"We’re not running from you

! We’re strategically retreating!"

"Strategically retreating?" Gu Jin scoffed, picking up speed.

"You’re sprinting for your miserable lives!"

Another parasite, a bulbous creature with too many limbs, panted as it tried to keep pace with the others.

"She’s going to kill us! I knew we shouldn’t have invaded City S!"

Not all the parasites were successful in transforming into complete humans, some were unsuccessful and had side effects.

"You said it was a great idea!" one of the other parasites snapped, tripping over a tree root but quickly scrambling to its feet.

The bulbous parasite gritted his teeth,

"Who would have thought that the lord we were following would be so weak? I truly regret it."

"You said there’d be easy pickings!" The other parasite shouted.

"How was I supposed to know some necromancer would come along and suck our life force?!" the bulbous parasite wailed, clearly regretting its earlier enthusiasm.

Gu Jin let out an exasperated groan as she finally caught up to one of the slower parasites.

With a flick of her wrist, thick, writhing plant vines shot out from the ground, wrapping around the creature’s legs and yanking it to a halt.

The parasite shrieked, desperately clawing at the earth.

"No! No, please! I have a family! And a dog! We just moved to a nice bog, I swear!"

Gu Jin rolled her eyes.

"Oh, come on. You parasites don’t have families. Or pets. And even if you did, you’d probably eat them."

The creature whimpered pitifully, but Gu Jin was already pulling it toward her, her vines tightening around its body.

She pressed her hand to its chest, and with a sharp, swift motion, began to drain its life force.

The parasite’s body withered in an instant, its vibrant colors fading into a dull gray as it crumbled into dust.

"One down, nineteen to go," she muttered, glancing up at the other fleeing parasites.

They were almost out of sight now, desperate to put as much distance between themselves and the necromancer as possible.

"Don’t think I’ve forgotten about the rest of you!" she called, raising her hand.

More vines erupted from the ground, snaking through the forest and wrapping around the ankles of two more parasites.

"Let us go!" one of them shrieked, trying to pry the vine off with its sharp claws.

"I swear, I’ll go vegan! I’ll never eat another human again!"
