The Mighty Mage
Chapter 272: Peace-1

Chapter 272: Chapter 272: Peace-1

He had won. But the price of victory weighed heavily on him.

As the spell he had cast took full effect, the dazed soldiers around him began to stir, their memories of the battle already beginning to fade.

They would not remember his true identity.

They would only remember the man with black eyes and brow hair, a friend of Gu Jin.

Long Yifan smiled and teleported back to the capital.

What Long Yifan didn’t know was, that one of the people who had arrived late, had seen and heard everything.

Lamashtu’s eyes were red with anger and he was about to attack Long Yifan, but to his dismay, Long Yifan had already teleported somewhere else.

"Ahhh!" Lamashtu shouted. His anger was palpable to everyone present who was rejoicing.

"How! How did that save you all? You ants should have died...so why? Why are you all alive? No! No! You all should have died!"

The soldiers, Ren Fulin and Feng Boyu’s body tensed. They looked around in the hopes of finding the brown eyes and black hair guy who had earlier saved them but even after looking around for a long while they couldn’t find him.

Just as they were about to give up, a stern voice said,

"If you want to fight...fight with me."

When they turned around, they saw a young man with brown eyes and black hairs.

Their hearts were filled with happiness.

Lamashtu started at the newly arrived young man in anger,

"Who are you?"

Unlike humans who were affected by the artifact used by Long Yifan to alter the memory, Lamashtu’s memories weren’t altered.

He could be said to be the lone person who remembered the real hero. Alas, he hated the real hero and promised to teach that real hero a lesson.

"Leave them all alone." The brown eyes guys said.

Lamashtu waved his hand in anger and the brown eyes guy instantly raised an earth barrier around himself.

However, due to the difference in their strength, the brown-eyed guy was thrown a few meters away.

Ren Fulin frowned and asked Feng Boyu,

"How come that brown-eyed guy’s performance has decreased so much?"

"I don’t know...maybe it is because of fighting against Erinyes?" Feng Boyu guessed.

"Ah! Yes. That might be the reason." Ren Fulin nodded and said, "I will go and help. You rest here."

"Alright."

Ren Fulin motioned the other soldiers to follow along and attack Lamashtu.

Lamashtu’s red eyes glowed with a malevolent light as he watched the soldiers and the brown-eyed young man, his lip curling in disdain.

"Pitiful mortals. Do you think you can stand against me? I am not as powerful as Erinyes, but I have enough power to deal with ants like you all."

With a swift motion, Lamashtu lunged toward the soldiers, moving with terrifying speed.

Ren Fulin and the other soldiers braced themselves, their weapons raised, but it was clear that they were no match for the sheer power of the vice-captain of parasites.

Lamashtu’s claws sliced through the air, and with each strike, more soldiers fell, their bodies torn apart with ease.

Those who weren’t killed outright were seized by Lamashtu, their screams echoing in the air as he devoured them one by one.

Blood splattered across the ground, and the stench of death hung heavy in the air.

Ren Fulin swung his sword with all his might, but it barely made a dent in Lamashtu’s thick, elastic skin.

The monster’s laughter echoed around him as he shrugged off the attack as if it were nothing.

"You... are nothing but insects to me," Lamashtu snarled, grabbing Ren Fulin by the throat and lifting him off the ground.

"I will crush you all."

"Let him go!" The brown-eyed young man shouted, raising his hands to summon an earthen barrier, but Lamashtu easily broke through it with a single swipe, sending the young man flying backward once again.

"You can fool them but not me you idiot."

Lamashtu’s voice was filled with disdain.

No one was in the mood to understand Lamashtu’s words.

Ren Fulin struggled in Lamashtu’s grip, his face turning pale as the air was squeezed from his lungs.

His vision began to blur, and he felt the cold grip of death closing in.

Feng Boyu shouted at the soldiers who were standing some meters away from Lamashtu.

"Go and save him!"

However, the soldiers didn’t move.

Who wouldn’t be? They can see how cruel Lamashtu is and they are sure that they would lose their life if they went near Lamashtu.

But seeing Ren Fulin in danger, they steeled themselves and charged toward Lamashtu with everything they had.

Lamashtu laughed at their futile attempts, his red eyes gleaming with sadistic delight as he swatted the soldiers aside like flies.

Their weapons were useless against him, and with every passing second, more lives were lost.

The ground was littered with bodies, the once-hopeful army now a scene of carnage.

Si Kai, still cradling his unconscious sister, watched the massacre unfold from a distance, his heart filled with despair.

His fists clenched as he considered joining the battle, knowing that if he didn’t, more people would die.

But before he could make a move, a soft groan reached his ears.

"Gu Jin?" Si Kai’s eyes widened as his sister stirred in his arms, her eyelids fluttering open.

"Si Kai..." Gu Jin’s voice was weak, but her eyes were sharp as they took in the battlefield around her.

"What... what’s happening? And...and where is...my skelly?"

It was alright if Gu Jin didn’t point it out but once she did, Si Kai realized that the skelly were indeed missing for a long while now...

"They..."

Before Si Kai could continue his words, a few dark shadows started to emerge from Gu Jin’s shadow.

Gu Jin looked at her skelly and then Ren Fulin, before saying,

"Go and help him."

The Skelly who were wearing black cloak and mask, nodded and charged toward Lamashtu.

"Sister? Are you okay? What happened to you?" Si Kai asked as he looked at Gu Jin with a worried expression.

Gu Jin chuckled when she saw Si Kai’s worried expression.

Was this still the same guy who kept taunting her?

Remembering about the illusion which she had seen earlier and looking at Lamashtu, Gu Jin frowned and asked,

"Who is he?"

Just a few minutes before, she had seen an illusion where Si Kai was killed, a strange energy surged in her, and just as Gu Jin was about to realize it...the illusion shattered.

The energy coursing her vanished instantly.

It was then Gu Jin realized that something was wrong with her. But before she could do anything, the sound of the war echoed in her ears.

Instead of finding herself in the underground tunnel, Gu Jin found herself in an open ground-like area and held by Si Kai.

Si Kai hurriedly told her about the general situation.

Gu Jin frowned.

Who was the friend who rescued her? And how did he become so powerful that he killed Erinyes...the parasite lord who had at least surpassed the Heaven Rank mage’s power?

Everything was so confusing but...

Now was not the time to think about all those questions.

Gu Jin supported herself and tried to stand up.

"Sister, what are you doing? You should rest!" Si Kai shouted.

"I am going to help them." Gu Jin answered in a weak voice.

"But sister you are not in the right condition! How can you defeat them on your own? Let them fight on their own, I will go and help." Si Kai asked worriedly.

Gu Jin shook her head.

"No...they helped me when they had the chance to abandon me and save their life. I can’t leave them in danger."

"But how? How can you help them? That Lamashtu is as powerful as the blue-haired guy we had met in the underground tunnel.

We were able to defeat that blue-haired guy because you used a sleeping poison and had distracted him for a long time.

To suck his life force out, you even have to take many breaks in between. And fell into a coma when you had to succeed.

Sister you can’t use the same idea again!" Si Kai said. His voice was laced with desperation.

"Don’t worry I have everything planned out." Gu Jin reassured him.

A general idea had appeared in her mind and Gu Jin muttered,

"Maybe...maybe I failed in the transformation. If I had succeeded."

Then she turned to Si Kai and muttered something in his ears.

When Si Kai heard her words, he instantly shook his head and opposed,

"No! No! We can’t use your method! I disagree."

"Kai we don’t have much time. Please. Just listen to me, alright?" Gu Jin said in a low voice.

"Sister! Please! This plan is too risky! You are already weak..." Si Kai was interrupted midway through his sentence,

"Kai just do as I say and everything will be over. City S will regain its peace."
