Chapter 216: Skelly’s Fear.

Chapter 216: Chapter 216: Skelly’s Fear.

Gu Jin regained her confidence. She didn’t know why the death element didn’t affect her, yet she was filled with joy.

"Let me give you a return gift b*stard. Nine Pillars"

Nine fire pillars suddenly emerged and trapped the skelly inside.

Boom.

One by one the pillars started to explode.

However, to Gu Jin’s surprise, the skelly wasn’t affected and continued to stand inside looking at Gu Jin with narrowed eyes as if he was trying to determine how Gu Jin deflected the death energy.

"You... are not like the others," Skelly hissed, its voice echoing through the chamber with an eerie resonance.

"There’s something... different about you."

Gu Jin, still catching her breath, narrowed her eyes back at the creature. "Different, huh? You mean to say powerful?"

But deep inside, she was just as puzzled as Skelly. The death energy should have drained her life force, yet instead, it had... energized her?

Skelly, unfazed by her banter, raised one skeletal claw and began to chant in a guttural, ancient language.

The symbols on the walls started to glow more fiercely, pulsing in sync with the creature’s words.

Gu Jin’s instincts screamed at her to move, but her body felt oddly rooted to the spot.

The air around her thickened with malevolent energy, and she could feel the oppressive weight of it pressing down on her.

Suddenly, the ground beneath her began to crack, dark tendrils of energy snaking up from the fissures and wrapping around her legs, trying to pull her down.

"Not today!" Gu Jin shouted, forcing herself to focus.

A wave of scorching flames erupted from her body, incinerating the dark tendrils in an instant.

The heat from her flames filled the chamber, momentarily blinding Skelly as it recoiled from the intense light.

Taking advantage of the momentary distraction, Gu Jin charged forward, her plant element flaring to life once more.

She summoned a pair of thorny, poison-laced vines that shot toward Skelly, aiming to bind its limbs and hold it in place.

But Skelly wasn’t so easily caught. It swiftly countered, unleashing a torrent of dark energy that sliced through the vines with ease.

"You’re really starting to annoy me," Gu Jin muttered, wiping sweat from her brow.

Suddenly Gu Jin’s body started to tremble.

The Skelly suddenly stopped and stared at Gu Jin as if trying to sense something.

Gu Jin was stunned and tried hard to stop herself from shaking, however, even after trying for a long while she wasn’t able to stop the trembling.

Despite her best efforts, the trembling only intensified, and her heart pounded as if it were ready to burst from her chest.

Skelly’s eyes, which had been cold and menacing, were now wide with shock and... fear. It took a step back, its skeletal form visibly rattling.

"How can you... No! You must be killed!" Skelly’s voice, usually so composed and ominous, now held a note of panic.

Gu Jin wanted to roll her eyes and for a moment she even wanted to leave her body and fight using her soul.

This useless body of hers was reacting so strangely!

"What the hell is happening to me?" she muttered under her breath.

Why was her body betraying her at this critical moment? And why was Skelly so terrified all of a sudden?

As the trembling grew more intense, Gu Jin felt a sudden wave of heat wash over her, more intense than anything she had ever experienced.

The fire element within her flared up, and she could feel it merging with something else—something darker and more powerful.

She looked down at her hands and gasped. Dark flames, tinged with an eerie violet hue, were dancing along her fingertips, crackling with menacing energy that made her skin prickle.

"What... is this?" Gu Jin whispered, her voice barely audible.

She could understand the dark flames...maybe it was from her dark fire element, but what was that violet hue?

"No!"

The Skelly panicked even more, materialized a scythe in his hand, and waved it.

Before Gu Jin could get a chance to dodge, the scythe’s blade slashed through her back.

Clang.

"Ahhh." Gu Jin screamed in pain.

The pain was excruciating, like nothing she had ever felt before.

The dark energy from the scythe seemed to seep into her wound, spreading an icy numbness throughout her body.

Gu Jin fell to one knee, gasping for breath.

Her vision blurred as she tried to focus on the situation, but the agony was overwhelming.

The dark flames on her hands flickered, struggling to maintain their intensity.

Skelly, seeing his attack land, advanced slowly, the scythe now dripping with her blood. His skeletal grin widened, sensing victory.

"How dare you fight against me."

Whoosh.

Skelly against attacked Gu Jin with its scythe. This time the target was Gu Jin’s neck.

Gu Jin could feel her death nearing her.

She bit her lips. Just before the scythe could connect to her neck, Gu Jin regained control of her body and hurriedly dodged to one side.

Gu Jin barely escaped the scythe’s deadly arc, feeling the cold air rush past her as the blade narrowly missed her neck.

She stumbled to the side, her body still trembling from the aftershock of the dark energy. Her back burned with pain, but she couldn’t afford to focus on it now.

Skelly hissed in frustration, its empty eye sockets burning with malice. "You can’t escape your fate!"

Though the trembling stopped, Gu Jin felt weak.

For some reason, she started to feel cold.

Was it the cold death energy that was transferred from the scythe to her back?

Damn her luck.

If she was in her peak state, she could at least have the chance to retaliate. But now...her body was trembling, she wasn’t able to cast any spell and god knows why she was feeling weak all over.

If Gu Jin had a thermometer, maybe she would have known the answer. Her body temperature went down.

Skelly didn’t want to miss the chance to kill Gu Jin and hence he lunged at her again, scythe gleaming with malevolent intent.

Gu Jin’s vision blurred as the cold spread through her veins, slowing her movements, and making every step feel like wading through thick mud.

She tried to summon her flames, but they sputtered weakly, barely flickering at her fingertips.

Her body was betraying her at the worst possible moment, and she could feel the chill of death creeping closer with each passing second.

Skelly’s skeletal grin widened as he raised the scythe for the final blow.

"This is the end for you," he hissed, his voice dripping with cruel satisfaction.

Gu Jin’s heart pounded in her chest.

With each passing moment, her temperature kept on going down.

Just when the scythe was about to connect to her face, a dark aura suddenly burst through Gu Jin.

The dark aura stunned Skelly, which suddenly stopped.

Gu Jin dodged the attack again.

This time she rolled to the other side.

When Skelly realized that he was tricked, Gu Jin had already worn her flying boots.

"I will fight with you some other day, I am tired today. Bye..."

Gu Jin hurriedly leaped in the air, however, Skelly wasn’t in the mood to let go. To be precise it couldn’t let Gu Jin go!

"Human it’s better if you return to the arena, you can’t leave the arena anyways," Skelly warned.

Gu Jin rolled her eyes. Does she look like an idiot to him?

"If you want to fight, come up." Gu Jin challenged.

She knew this undead-like creature, couldn’t fly.

Skelly as if offended, shouted,

"It is better if you come down, otherwise the consequences won’t be good."

Gu Jin smiled,

"I am a stubborn kind of person, until and unless you show me consequences I won’t agree to come down."

However, in her heart, she was cursing the Skelly.

Just now she wanted to leave, but a protective barrier like something was preventing her from flying away, otherwise, she would have left long ago!

A pair of wings suddenly emerged out on Skelly’s back.

F*ck.

Gu Jin could only think of that word.

She suddenly looked at the sky and shouted in her heart,

’Just how much you hate me?’

As if it was not enough, Gu Jin’s body started to tremble again, but this time it was due to cold.

This torture of injured back, weak body, and cold, made Gu Jin want to die.

Gu Jin hurriedly ate healing pills and took out some clothes from her storage ring to wear.

By now Skelly had already arrived in the air too.

Gu Jin clenched her fist.

And cast a plant element attack,

"Poison Vines!"

A few poisoned vines emerged out of the ground and made their way toward Skelly, their thorns glistening with venom.

The vines shot through the air, twisting and curling with deadly intent.

But Skelly, now airborne with his skeletal wings, skillfully maneuvered out of their reach.

"Heh! Do you think you can win against me using this petty attack?"

"No, I was waiting for this one..."
