The Mighty Mage
Chapter 215: Skelly

Chapter 215: Chapter 215: Skelly

"Jin’er!" Lu Siyao was the first person to react and she instantly tried to rush inside, however, the black portal had closed by then.

A sense of deja vu hit Pei Kei, wasn’t he the same as Lu Siyao just a few minutes ago?

"No! No! Jin’er!" Liang Bao waved her hand in the air as if she was trying to find some entrance. Suddenly she turned towards Lu Siyao and said,

"Repeat the words! Repeat the words you said earlier."

"Dear black portal please open in front of me!" Lu Siyao shouted thrice but nothing happened.

....

As Gu Jin looked at the void around her, she only had one thought.

Return to the space!

However, the damn space wasn’t responding to her.

Gods know for how long she stayed in the void, before suddenly, she was thrown down.

Gu Jin used her plant element to wrap plant vines around herself to protect herself from falling.

Once on the ground, Gu Jin cautiously removed the vines and observed the surroundings.

The sky above was a swirling mass of dark clouds, tinged with eerie green and purple hues. The ground was barren, cracked, and dry as if life had been sucked out of it.

The air felt thick and oppressive, carrying a faint metallic scent that stung her nose.

As she scanned the landscape, she noticed something in the distance—a structure, barely visible through the haze.

It looked ancient, like a ruin from a long-forgotten civilization.

Gu Jin looked around in the hopes of finding some creature or humans but found none.

Having no choice she started to think of ways to exit and like Lu Siyao started shouting,

"Dear black portal please open in front of me." She repeated the same line for the next 20 minutes.

Her voice turned hoarse but the black portal didn’t appear in front of her.

Gu Jin couldn’t help but curse the portal.

At the same time, she cursed her luck.

Why? Why did that damn portal open up and teleported her to such a rotten place!

Rotten portal!

Taking deep breath Gu Jin looked at the structure. Deciding that it was the best place to start, Gu Jin began making her way toward it.

When she finally reached the ruins, she saw that they were even more dilapidated up close. The stone walls were covered in strange, glowing symbols that pulsed faintly.

The entrance was a large, arching doorway, half-collapsed but still accessible.

Taking a deep breath, Gu Jin stepped inside.

Whoosh.

A few arrows shot toward Gu Jin.

Gu Jin dodged the attack and built a plant shield around her. To her surprise, the arrow easily pierced through the plant shield.

Thanks to her fast reaction, Gu Jin dodged the arrows.

She took a moment to steady herself, her breathing shallow as she listened for any more signs of danger.

The ruins were silent, save for the faint hum of the glowing symbols on the walls.

Gu Jin once again tried to step inside, but the arrows again started to shoot out. Suddenly she understood something and hurriedly stepped out.

Once she stepped out the attack stopped

She used the flying boot to step inside again. This time the arrow didn’t shoot out.

The arrows didn’t fire this time, confirming her suspicion—the traps were triggered by contact with the ground.

Hovering just above it seemed to bypass the mechanism.

The air within the ruins was thick with an ominous energy, making her skin prickle.

Gu Jin frowned. She could sense death energy in the ruins.

Suddenly she saw a few dark flowers, and her eyes brightened.

"Skeleton Herb?"

Skeleton herbs were very rare and hard to come by. These herbs require nutrients of thousands of skeletons to grow up.

Skeleton herbs are one of the main ingredients used to make Heaven Rank pills.

Gu Jin took out glooves, and carefully collected all the skeleton herbs.

Her heart was filled with happiness.

This trip wasn’t as bad as it seems!

As she advanced deeper into the structure, the glowing symbols on the walls seemed to pulse more intensely, as if responding to her presence.

The corridor eventually opened into another chamber, this one even larger than the first.

At the center was an intricately designed floor with symbols and patterns that glowed faintly. It looked like some kind of ritualistic area, though its purpose was unclear.

Gu Jin descended carefully, her boots barely skimming the surface of the patterned floor.

As she did, the symbols on the ground began to glow brighter, and she heard a low rumbling sound.

The ground beneath her trembled slightly, and she realized that something was awakening.

Before she could react, the symbols on the floor began to rearrange themselves, forming a large, intricate circle around her.

She tried to fly out of it, but an invisible barrier blocked her path, trapping her within the circle.

Panic surged through her, but she forced herself to stay calm. There had to be a way out of this.

As the circle completed itself, the air around her shimmered, and a figure began to materialize in the center of the room.

It was a tall, imposing figure, draped in dark robes that seemed to absorb the light around them.

Its face was hidden beneath a hood, and its hands were long, skeletal claws.

The figure spoke in a deep, echoing voice,

"You who dare enter the sacred chamber of the ancients, you have trespassed on forbidden ground. Prove your worth, or be consumed by the darkness that binds this place."

"Hey, skelly, I was just passing by..." Gu Jin tried to explain, however Skelly was offended by the name Skelly and roared.

Gu Jin was able to see the skeleton’s face...uh face structure.

Entirely charred with dark eyes and a creepy red mouth that was stitched.

The creature’s stitched mouth opened wider, revealing rows of jagged teeth.

Its dark eyes burned with an eerie red glow as it floated closer to Gu Jin, its skeletal claws extended menacingly.

"Hey, hey! No need to get all worked up,"

"Fight with me!" The creature shouted.

"Hell no!" Gu Jin shouted and tried to fly away.

Just by the aura around the Skelly, she was sure it was a Peake Super Mage!

"I’ll just be on my way, and you can go back to... whatever it is you were doing here."

But the figure wasn’t having any of it. With a flick of its claw, it sent a wave of dark energy crashing toward her.

Gu Jin barely had time to react, summoning a barrier of plant vines around her, but the energy tore through it effortlessly, knocking her to the ground.

Struggling to her feet, Gu Jin realized she had to fight otherwise she would become chopped meat!

"B*stard." Gu Jin cursed and wiped away the blood from the corner of her mouth.

She decided to use her dark fire element since there was no one present other than Skelly.

"Dark Firey Blast." Gu Jin threw an intermediate-rank spell.

Gu Jin’s "Dark Firey Blast" clashed with the creature’s dark energy, creating a massive explosion that shook the chamber.

The force of the blast sent her skidding back, but she quickly regained her footing. The creature emerged from the smoke, unharmed and more enraged than ever.

"You’re tougher than you look, Skelly!" Gu Jin quipped, trying to keep her fear at bay. But the creature wasn’t in the mood for jokes.

It lunged at her with its skeletal claws, now crackling with death energy.

Gu Jin swiftly countered with her plant element, summoning a forest of thick vines to entangle the creature.

The vines surged forward, their tips glowing with a faint green light, but as soon as they made contact with the creature, they began to wither and rot, disintegrating into dust.

"That’s not fair! You’re cheating with that death energy!" Gu Jin complained, leaping to the side as the creature slashed at her with its claws.

In her heart though, she was cursing the skeleton. This b*stard has a death element, how could she possibly deal with him? She doesn’t even have any light element or light element defense artifact!

The creature responded by summoning a wave of dark energy, which washed over her like a black tide.

Gu Jin gasped as the cold, oppressive force wrapped around her, chilling her to the bone.

She could feel the death energy trying to seep into her, dragging her down into darkness.

Suddenly her heart started to beat loudly. Was it the fear of dying...or...

Gu Jin was surprised.

Why the hell her body was feeling excited?

’Stupid body! We will die! Why the f*ck are you feeling excited!’ Gu Jin cursed her body.

Suddenly the death energy dissipated.

"How?" Skelly was shocked. "How did you survive that attack?"

He expected Gu Jin to die. But to his surprise, Gu Jin was able to fight it off, even though she didn’t have any light element!
