Chapter 90: Looks like a queen

Chapter 90: Looks like a queen

"You tell me, girl! What the hell? Who was that? Do you have a boyfriend or something?" Melony asked, and before Elliana could reply, Daniel spoke first.

"She doesn’t have a boyfriend. She has mentioned this before," Daniel said, and Elliana hummed in agreement.

"I don’t have a boyfriend but a -" Elliana couldn’t speak the truth when Melony spoke again.

"Or was he your brother?"

"No, he isn’t. He -" Elliana tried again, but Melony interrupted again.

"His voice was so dangerous and sexy. Girl! The way he was speaking to you. How many boys do you have simping over you?" Melony talked like a fangirl, and Elliana sighed.

This man was anything but simping over her. Rather he was having her tailed because he suspects her of conspiring against him.

But then, it doesn’t hide the fact that he literally treats her like a princess. He had no use of talking to her, but he still cared about the sadness in her eyes, not to mention how he even tried to go against the boys right after the peace pact just for her sake.

"Girl, where are you lost?" Melony asked.

"You are the only one distracted here. I am here waiting for you to complete your sentence," Elliana sighed.

"Oh, yeah. So I was talking about the voting pool. Our Elliana didn’t win that. That human from the art department, Madeline, got that position. Aaaah, you guys have no idea how pissed I am right now," Melony flailed her legs in the air as she lay on her bed.

"That’s really shocking. We had thought Elliana would win with how her popularity skyrocketed," Daniel commented.

Madeline. She won again from her in something? If it had been earlier, Elliana wouldn’t even have bothered with the so-called competition of being the campus belle because she wasn’t interested in it, but now?

"The only way to win is by gaining the votes of people in the performances at the party. The performances that usually showcase talent since the campus belle can’t be decided just based on looks, right?" Samantha asked, and Melony hummed.

"What is the use of that? Our Elliana doesn’t know how to sing or dance," Melony sighed.

"What is Madeline performing?" Elliana asked.

"I don’t know. I think she is going to sing," Melony answered, and Elliana hummed.

"Don’t worry. If you guys want me to win so badly, I’ll find a way," Elliana said.

"Why are you stressing yourself so much? It’s not like this competition is going to decide your grades for you," Alcinder spoke for the first time, and Elliana hummed.

This won’t help her in grades, but the look of defeat on Madeline’s face was what she wanted.

She has had enough of being on the losing end always. She never bullied them, but they always found a way to mess up her life. Elliana gritted her teeth.

"I know. I want to try it out. The feeling of winning something, I want to have it," Elliana’s voice was cold for a moment, and everyone paused.

Why did it feel like Elliana meant more than she was speaking?

"Anyway, I’ll be going to the race track on the day after the party. Anyone want to join me?"

"Of course, how can we miss that?" Samantha was the first one to speak before she narrowed her eyes.

"Wait. I asked you about the trip, didn’t I? What happened with that? Did you ask your guardian for it? The man earlier, was he your guardian? He didn’t sound like he would deny you anything. Do you want me to talk to him?" Samantha asked.

Elliana had completely forgotten about it amidst her problems and stuff, and she bit her lips.

"I will do that. Don’t worry," Elliana said, and after talking for a while, they ended the call.

She walked outside towards the railing of the balcony with a dazed look. Elliana knows that revenge is the most evil thing you can do to harm yourself. This vile feeling will destroy her inside out, but this time, she wanted to do it.

The ping of her phone brought her out of her thoughts. It was a message from a private number. It contained the video that she had recorded along with the screenshot of a message. It was her bank records. The amount was deposited in her bank.

For security measures, Elliana hadn’t registered this number with the bank. Now that she knows the youngest prince is having her tailed and probably keeping observation on everything she owns and does, it was a good decision.

She sighed and went downstairs to have dinner so she could get into practicing her singing soon.

~~~~~~~~
The two days passed in a blur, with Elliana working hard on her dancing and singing. Melony was wrong. Elliana knew how to dance and sing equally well.
She just didn’t know how to dance with a partner because she never found a compatible one. The prince did a good job of making her learn the basics that would work for everyone.
"Princess, my god, you look beautiful!" Miss Zoya gushed as soon as she entered the room.
The green dress with black mix and roses that Elliana was wearing was way beautiful.
She was wearing long black earrings that came to her shoulders with a rose on the ear. For the bracelet, she was wearing a few simple dark jade bangles in her left hand and a small black pearl on her neck that was enhancing her beauty even more.
She wasn’t wearing much make-up. Just her soft look, but she was already glowing like a queen who was ready to fight for her throne.
She stood from her place and wore her black-colored heels with green sparkles that Samantha gave her to match her dress.
Once she was ready, Elliana looked at herself one last time and nodded.
Today was different. Miss Zoya didn’t know if this was because of the dress, but Elliana looked way more dominant than her usual self.
The innocent and shy girl they were used to was nowhere to be seen today.
"Are you ready, princess?" Miss Zoya asked.
Elliana, who was busy prepping herself because tonight was the night she was going to officially announce and show her retaliation to Madeline and all her wrongdoings, looked at Miss Zoya and smiled innocently like she always does, making the latter smile in relief.
"How do I look, Miss Zoya?" She walked to the head maid, and the lady nodded in appreciation.
"You look like a queen. For a moment, I was reminded of the youngest prince’s mother. She had the same dominant aura around her whenever she got ready to go anywhere or some action," Miss Zoya didn’t hold back, and Elliana nodded with a smile.
"Is Mr. Marino back?" She asked before taking her clutch.
"No, princess. I don’t think he will be anytime soon, either. From what I heard, the royals probably called him. You should leave if you don’t want to be late," Miss Zoya suggested, and Elliana nodded.
The only reason Elliana didn’t put anything on her face apart from a little gloss and blush was that Samantha and Melony had strictly instructed her that they’ll do her makeup.
They wanted her to get ready in their mansion, but Elliana didn’t want to go to another vampire’s mansion, afraid they might recognize her and her identity will be exposed sooner than she intended.
"I shall leave then," Elliana nodded and descended the stairs.
"Princess, don’t drink anything that someone else gives you. Don’t drink water from already opened bottles, and don’t eat food there. Here, eat this," the Chef brought some pasta for her and fed her with his hands.
Elliana’s eyes softened at the vampire in front of her. He has become more of a father-like figure to her. He cares about her health more than her biological father did.
"I think this much is enough for you to go for a couple of hours. I’ll have something light ready for you, so avoid eating anything there. What if those naughty boys spike the food and drinks and -"
Elliana giggled, shocking the chef, who looked at her and realized what he was doing.
"I... I am sorry, princess -"
"No. Thank you so much for caring for me. It’s you people that always make me feel like I am home," Elliana said before stepping ahead and holding the chef’s hand, whose hand trembled at such softness from the princess.
Before coming here, he used to work in the royal Kingdom’s main palace. No one even bothered to look at him, let alone appreciate his cooking. He was nothing more than a working slave for them.
One day, he accidentally forgot that one of the princesses doesn’t like her steak fully cooked. He had heard about the death of his close family member that day. The princess had punished him harshly and was about to throw him when luckily, the youngest prince reached the kingdom the same day and said he would take the chef under him.
Though the prince never interacted much with his staff because he is barely home, he never complains about anything they do.
Now that the princess has come, he has finally found someone who appreciates his presence, and he couldn’t help but feel emotions.
Seeing the elderly man’s eyes brimming with tears, Elliana’s eyes widened, and she quickly took out her handkerchief before giving it to the chef, who took it and wiped his tears.
"Thank you, princess. You are -" He paused when he realized he had dirtied the princess’s handkerchief.
"Oh my, I am so sorry -"
"I will get another one. I’ll be back to eat food cooked by you," Elliana smiled and walked out, making Miss Zoya sigh at the girl.
Everyone in the palace wanted to open up to the girl and accept her wholeheartedly, but she was still under heavy suspicion, and that’s why they were holding back.
