Chapter 71: First day of training
Chapter-71
"Are you sure you don’t need anything else?" Miss Zoya asked for the umpteenth time, and Elliana smiled before nodding.
As soon as Mizz Zoya left, her demeanor changed, and the smile on her face was replaced by a cold look.
She walked to the bed where her phone was and gently picked it up.
She dialed the number and waited for the person to pick it up.
"I think I know what we are going to do with them. Wait for me. It’s going to be a fun game. I’ll try to be there tomorrow. Lay low till then, and don’t roam the streets casually. If you get caught, I don’t know you," Elliana said before ending the call and throwing the phone back on the bed.
She looked at her hand and clenched her fists, trying to see if she could feel the energy collecting in the middle of her palm as that Witch Yaretzi had told her.
Nothing happened. Even after trying three times, nothing happened.
’Why am I even thinking about it so much? Everything comes with pain and pleasure. The quickening of the process might make things worse for me. The stronger I would become, the stronger Prince’s suspicion about me will get,’ Elliana sighed before massaging her head.
She grabbed the glass of water and took a sip to control her messed-up thoughts. Maybe she should meditate a bit and try to increase her psychic energy until she hears again from that witch who said she’d come for her.
"That’s why you need training," a voice whispered in her ears, similar to the one she had heard near the lake and pond before her glow started to react. Due to sudden shock, the glass dropped from her hand, shattering into thousands of shards, making her extend her hand in front of her instinctively.
Sh*t. She cursed and closed her eyes before stepping back to save her foot, but she noticed that none of the glass touched her foot. There was this invisible protective shield around her legs that repelled the glass pieces.
This shield. Was it coming out of her hands?
Elliana raised her brows and looked at her hands. She did this? But how is this possible?
What kind of -
"This is how you trigger your powers," Elliana heard a different voice this time, and she turned around.
"How did you do it?" Yaretzi asked the girl, and she looked at her hands, unsure of what to do now.
Yaretzi looked at the confused and insecure look on the girl’s face and clicked her fingers.
The glass went back to its original shape and position, and Elliana looked at it in amazement as it went back to the tray on its own.
"How did you do it?" Elliana looked at the witch, who looked at the excited girl with a sigh.
This girl dodged her previous question.
"Your powers are advancing. Even if you don’t know about it, it will become hard to control these powers if they are not trained well," Yaretzi said, and Elliana bent to pick up her clip that had fallen from her hair earlier.
As she bent, something shone in her neck, and Yaretzi’s eyes widened.
"You... Where did you get this pendant from?" She asked, and Elliana looked at her pendant before shrugging.
"I was found in the human Kingdom with this. My father said this is the last and only thing that my mom left with me," Elliana explained and took out her pendant.
Yaretzi looked at the golden and blue crystal with red embroidered steel around it in pure amazement.
She looked at the pendant and then at the oblivious girl before falling to her knees. She bowed her head to the pendant, her eyes wide and filled with disbelief.
As soon as Yaretzi bowed to the pendant, the golden in it shone so bright that Elliana was pushed backward.
However, Yaretzi extended her hand in time, and Elliana fell on the cushion.
"What the hell?" Elliana asked, and Yaretzi bit her lower lip.
Why didn’t she see this coming? She should’ve known about it when she met Elliana for the first time.
Judging from Elliana’s face, it’s obvious that the girl doesn’t have any idea about what’s going on, and Yaretzi sighed. She unknowingly took on a bigger opportunity than she should have.
However, now that she had told the girl she would train her, she couldn’t leave the job in between. Yaretzi knew that she was nowhere near qualified to train the princess of the vampire kingdom, but it was necessary to train her control of the powers.
"Why are you bowing down to me?" Elliana asked, and Yaretzi cleared her throat before dusting her sandals.
"I wasn’t bowing down to you. You are not qualified to get a bow from a strong witch like me. I was just dusting my sandals so that I don’t leave the remnants of my presence," Yaretzi lied straight through her teeth, and Elliana nodded.
"Let’s begin, okay?" Yaretzi asked, and Elliana took a deep breath, excited for their adventure.
Yaretzi looked at the girl’s innocent expression before her gaze fell on the chain on Elliana’s neck, and she closed her eyes to calm down her own raging powers that wanted that pendant for them.
"First, close your eyes and try to call your powers. I am sure you must’ve heard some weird voices in your head. Young and inexperienced si- people like you hear those voices to guide them. You need to concentrate on them and try to call them. This week we will try to activate your subconscious toward your energies, okay?" Yaretzi asked, and Elliana nodded.
Elliana concentrated on the inner voice in her head and imagined herself looking for a different person in her head.
’My inner voice, I know you’ve always wanted to be let out. Today I am giving you the freedom to let your energy channel into me slowly as I try to control your powers,’ Elliana said inside her brain.
Yaretzi looked at the girl who was concentrating hard and smiled.
"It’s a tough step for newbies like you. For the first three days, you’ll feel that nothing is wrong with you, and you won’t be able to communicate with your inner voice, then when you start feeling her, you will feel the course of energy, but it will be hard for you to channel it in your hands. It’s a long process -"
The rest of Yaretzi’s words stuck in her mouth when suddenly the bulb on the left wall burst.
Yaretzi looked at the girl’s hand and saw the golden glow merging with the blue glow, and her pupils dilated.
There is no way this girl conquered this in just a few minutes when even the rookie witches who have inborn talent take around a week. The fastest she had seen and heard of was three days.
This girl did it in just thirty minutes? How is this possible? This is beyond amazing. Her learning powers are atrociously on par with the strongest witches out there.
If others in her clan learned about it, they wouldn’t waste a single second in taking her, probably making her life hell.
Yaretzi massaged her forehead before looking at the girl.
"Did I do good?" Elliana asked, excited, and Yaretzi clicked her fingers to make the bulb like it was earlier.
"You did just fine. If you had concentrated better, you wouldn’t have burst that bulb. I need you to meditate as much as you can, and no matter what happens, whenever you feel the energy influx in your hands, don’t face them toward anyone, okay?" Yaretzi asked, and Elliana scowled before nodding.
She really wanted to do well in the training. It looks like she will have to meditate well and increase her psychic energies to train better.
It was hard luck that she met Yaretzi. She won’t let this chance blow just like that. Elliana nodded at herself before closing her eyes again and concentrating on her energies.
Yaretzi looked at the girl and bit her lower lip before trying something they asked the first-year students to do.
This activity ensures and is used to judge what kind of witch the student will become. Not all witches are born powerful, and only one percent of the witches are able to actually become a witch who can perform the spells without actually needing to chant them or any external force or substance.
Yaretzi knew what she was going to do would be scowled at by many people, but she wanted to know if the person she was going to teach was an inborn talent among humans, a rare case that is born in hundreds of years.
If that were the case, she would have to research and study a hell lot harder than she had guessed.
"I am going to take you near the window. I want you to imagine and concentrate on something that will make you angry. I want you to extend your hand to the sky once you feel angry enough to explode, okay?" Yaretzi asked, and Elliana nodded.
Elliana clenched her eyes and thought about all the bad things that had happened to her so far.
She didn’t need to think too much.
The way Madeline always insulted her and her biological mother, the way Madeline pledged to make her life a living hell, the way she used so many tactics to get her out of the way, like asking those boys to take advantage of her and then sending those boys to beat her black and blue, to how she has to live like a coward all because she wanted to meet her biological mother, everything was enough to enrage her to a level that there was no going back.
Yaretzi looked at the girl, who was almost trembling with anger as her anger was now paired with her energy.
"Now," She whispered in Elliana’s ears, and Elliana raised her hand before opening her palm towards the sky.
Nothing happened. There was no electricity or a thunderstorm. Yaretzi took a deep calming breath and sighed happily.
She wasn’t a prodigy. Thank God. Yaretzi asked Elliana to open her eyes. As soon as Elliana opened her eyes, loud thunder echoed in the sky before dark clouds appeared out of nowhere. It started to rain heavily.
The loud thunderclaps that sounded like they were here to warn and kill were like an awakening slap to Yaretzi’s face.
