Chapter 70: The symbol of trust
Chapter 70: The symbol of trust
Chapter-70
"What do you think of it, Lucas?" Sebastian asked as soon as the man finished watching the video, and his expression didn’t exactly look great.
"I feel like puking, sir," Lucas confessed before he rushed to the attached bathroom in the office, followed by the sound of his puking.
Sebastian sighed before rolling his eyes.
It looks like Lucas wasn’t in a great condition to talk about it.
Sebastian massaged his forehead with a bitter look. He needed something to relax too. Something to take his mind off this matter for the time being because the more he thought about it, the more tempted he was to rush to the royal palace and demand answers.
And that’s the last thing he wanted to do right now, knowing all too well that the first thing they would ask him would be - how did he get this clip in the first place?
This clip was exclusively available to Stephano, Vincenzo, and Abramo only. It was protected by one of the first securities that were seen and taken care of by none other than the best technician in their family, Vincenzo.
Hurting his ego and getting on his bad side wasn’t what Sebastian needed right now after already making so many enemies.
He took a deep breath and looked at the time.
It has already been 2 hours since he left Princess to freshen up and eat her snacks. He had mentioned that he would be free in an hour, but she still hadn’t called him.
Does she not want to learn the dance anymore? He quirked his brows before standing from his chair.
He took off his coat and placed it on his chair before rolling off his sleeves.
"You take your time. I will be the princess," Sebastian looked towards the door, where more puking sounds followed, and sighed before exiting his office, not before wearing his mask.
He descended the stairs slowly, his kind going back to the incident again and again.
"Really? That must’ve felt so good. You are really such a popular princess. I bet most of the girls in the college must be feeling jealous of you. I always thought these rich kids were spoiled, but the mayor’s son indeed went out of his way to propose to you," Miss Zoya’s gushing brought Sebastian out of his thoughts, and he narrowed his eyes.
"He must really like you. What are your thoughts about him?" Miss Zoya asked, and Sebastian paused to hear the princess’ answer.
"I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know what kind of feelings he harbors towards me, but he has been the most polite person to me ever since I entered the university. He ensures that I am well taken care of, and no one bullies me. He even fights with humans for my sake, even when it’s not allowed. I like him as a friend," the princess said, and Sebastian’s eyes turned cold.
"You like him?" Miss Zoya asked, probably to confirm, and Elliana shook her head.
"I don’t like him romantically. It’s more platonic. The only person I like romantically is...hehe," Elliana giggled, and Sebastian raised his brows at her soft laugh.
"Our prince?" Miss Zoya asked with an amused smile when she noticed how shy Princess was being and chuckled.
"Yeah, it’s how he treats me when I am with him that makes me feel for him. He is a good man," Elliana said, and Sebastian stepped forward.
"I am sure people would disagree with your words. Our prince is kind to us and the best we can ask for, but he has a reputation and not a good one at that. He isn’t called the most dangerous prince of all for no reason. He has killed human clans without blinking his eyes," Miss Zoya sighed.
"There was this one time after something tragedic happened in his life, and he drank the blood of -"
"I am sure the princess doesn’t need to know that until you are trying to give her some good reasons to stay away from me," Sebastian’s cold voice sent shivers down Miss Zoya’s spine, and Elliana, who was sitting closer to the edge of the couch fell on her butt in surprise.
She was really invested in what Miss Zoya was saying and hadn’t expected the prince to arrive out of nowhere.
Wait. He was here. Does that mean he heard her confession again? Elliana bit her lips, looking at her with wide eyes, not able to look up into his eyes, afraid she would embarrass herself again.
"Didn’t you want to learn dancing? Are you not done with your gossiping? I told you to call me as soon as you were done," Sebastian looked at Elliana, and she fidgeted with the hem of her skirt, still on the ground, and he sighed.
"Stupid girl. What are you doing on the ground?" He walked to her and helped her up before sitting in front of her on the ground on his ankles.
He looked at her knees to see if she had scraped them.
"Let’s start with the practice, okay? I have to leave in some time to meet a few people," Sebastian said, and Elliana looked up.
"It’s okay, Mr Marino. You must be tired after a long day. Please have some rest. I will learn this dance from my partner tomorrow. You don’t have to -"
"So you are telling me I should let my wife take help from some other man even when I can do it?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana widened her eyes.
"No... That’s not what I mean. I just wanted you to have rest and -"
"Let’s go," Sebastian said before he sneaked his hand under her thighs and picked her up in bridal style.
"Umm, I can walk," Elliana said, and Sebastian looked down at her, making her look back at him with enlarged eyes before she looked away, heat creeping up her neck even more than before.
"I know, you can. Let’s make it quick," Sebastian said, and Elliana scowled.
Was he making fun of her human speed because he is the vampire prince and probably a hundred times faster than her? She pouted her lips, and Sebastian looked at her, amused.
"Do you want to practice it on the terrace, or do you want to go to the hall on the fifth floor?" Sebastian asked.
"Wherever is okay with you. I think we should practice in the hall. At the terrace, everyone will see you, and they might think otherwise," Elliana said.
"What would they think?" He asked.
"That...umm... I don’t know. It will affect your image of the scariest prince?" Elliana asked, and Sebastian hummed before bringing her to the terrace.
"And I don’t remember when that was my problem. They can think about whatever they want to," Sebastian said before he nodded at Harry, who placed the music system under the roof and played soft music for them.
Elliana looked at the arrangements.
"You had everything covered," Elliana said, and Sebastian hummed.
"How could I not? I have to make things perfect so that my wife learns things the best way," Sebastian said, and seeing Elliana blushing so hard, he placed her down.
"Are you ready?" He asked, and she nodded before distancing herself a bit.
"Okay, I will put my hand on your waist like this, and you put your hand on my shoulder. Here, hold my hand," Sebastian instructed one by one, and Elliana nodded like a good student, wanting to learn everything on the first day.
Sebastian noticed how focussed she was and pulled her close with a jerk.
"If anyone apart from your lover does this, don’t allow him, okay?" Sebastian said, and Elliana nodded, making him smile under the mask.
"Also, only your lover can place his hand like this so intimately," Sebastian lowered his hand to her hips. He could hear Elliana’s heart picking its pace, and it was like his favorite music.
He could see that Elliana was barely holding her shyness inside to learn the dance.
"Move your legs like this. Look at my feet. When I step ahead, you step back, and then you’ll step ahead, and I’ll step back. We can move left and right with this," Sebastian instructed, and Elliana accidentally stomped on his foot.
"I am so sorry," tears welled in her eyes, and Sebastian thinned his lips.
"Why are you crying? Do you hear me complaining?" He stopped and cupped her cheeks, forcing her to look into his eyes.
"You can’t learn it on day one, Princess. It takes practice. You are already doing great,’ Sebastian encouraged her, and she nodded.
"It’s just. It’s not like I can’t dance, but I don’t want to hurt you learning this dance," Elliana said, and Sebastian smiled inwardly.
"You can dance?" He asked, his finger loving from her cheeks to under her chin as he forced her chin up.
"Yes," She averted her gaze.
"Why haven’t I seen it yet?" He asked before dipping, his face almost an inch away from her as if he wanted to kiss her, and she stepped back, but Sebastian’s hand on her waist stopped her from moving further.
"Won’t you show your husband how pretty you dance?" He asked, and she nodded.
"I will, but I will do it that one day when you’ll trust me enough to take off your mask in front of me," Elliana said, and Sebastian looked into her eyes for a few seconds before nodding.
"Fair deal," he smiled.
Unfortunately, that day won’t ever come. He will never trust her enough to reveal his secrets to her. Taking off this mask was nothing. However, this mask was a symbolization, and Elliana read into it well. This mask was the symbol of his trust, and of course, he doesn’t trust anyone here apart from Lucas.
