Chapter 569: Strategic or foolish?
The dean rushed to the psychic testing zone, his pupils dilating when he looked at his psychic teacher on the ground behind the machine, gasping for air.
"Kristof, what’s wrong? Are you in pain? What is it all about? Did Elliana do something to you?" The dean crouched down, worried about one of his best teachers.
Kristof gripped his own neck, his fingernails almost clawing his skin to ease the pain he was feeling, starting to draw the blood.
"Quickly, call Madonna. Ask a couple of teachers to come here too. Also-" The dean closed his eyes.
He didn’t know what the matter was and if Elliana was really at fault here. The last time when he had tried to touch her soul to check her grade, her powers had just gazed into his eyes and he had gone through that kind of excruciating pain.
Thus, stopping Elliana’s battle and eliminating her would be unfair to the girl.
"Sir?" The secretary asked, snapping the dean out of his thoughts.
"Don’t tell anyone about what happened here. We can’t jeopardize this yearly competition that these students work and train so hard for until we know the entire truth," The dean said, and the secretary nodded in understanding.
Soon three teachers that were responsible for the security, rushed inside the zone when they heard something happened there.
They looked at the man struggling on the ground, the blood trailing down his hands now.
"What is happening, sir?" The teachers asked, but the dean shook his head, unsure of what to tell them.
"Quickly, help me hold his hands in place so he doesn’t end up hurting himself even more," The dean said, and the teachers nodded.
Madonna entered the zone too when she heard she was summoned by the dean.
She was quite interested in Elliana’s battle after sensing her energies when she had gone to meet Sebastian. Thus, she was quite reluctant to come until she heard it was critical.
As soon as her gaze landed on the scene in front of her, Madonna’s pupils dilated and she immediately crouched on her knees.
"Freigeben," Madonna held the man’s hand, making him go limp and lose consciousness.
"Can you tell us what happened? This is important. It concerns the genuineness and fairness of this competition," The dean asked witch Madonna, who pressed her lips into a thin line and looked at other teachers.
Unlike him and Madonna who knew the truth about Elliana, the other teachers didn’t.
The dean immediately understood her signal and asked everyone to leave the zone, asking them to go back to the battle and ensure the safety of the people.
Once the teachers left, the dean looked at Madonna for answers.
"Is it Elliana?" The dean asked, and Madonna hummed.
"Unfortunately, yes," Madonna said.
"Shall we stop the battle?" He asked.
"I don’t think so," Madonna turned around.
She looked at the teacher who was now lying on the bench.
"What do you mean?" The dean asked, unsure if Madonna wasn’t taking Elliana’s side because she was Sebastian’s wife and being impartial.
"Why would you stop the battle when it’s not the student’s fault? I heard Elliana put forward a condition, didn’t she? She clearly asked him to erase and forget what he saw after checking everything. However, our teacher broke the conduct of privacy that the student asked for and got curious about what the girl wanted to hide from everyone. He deleted and forgot the memories to ensure Elliana," Madonna said, surprising the dean who didn’t think that his teacher would act like that.
"But as soon as Elliana left the room, he went back behind the machine and restored the files, checking her memories. I am sure you know that memories are associated with powers. Elliana’s powers obviously went on alert mode as soon as they were touched," Madonna explained everything she saw through Kristof’s mind.
’Do you want to die?’ The dean remembered Elliana’s powers reaction when he had tried to touch them.
"Honestly, it’s surprising how her powers can concentrate on two places at a single time. They not only showed Kristof his place for trying to touch them, she even took away the manga she used in showing him his place. She absorbed some of his psychic abilities. And if that happened, it means she has been hearing what everyone is talking about and thinking about her. Do you know what it means?" Madonna asked and the dean nodded.
He looked at his teacher who risked his life today. There was a reason he had warned all the teachers to not get involved with Elliana more than the curriculum needed.
"Will he be alright?" The dean asked.
Madonna didn’t answer. She just sighed.
"We can only hope that the moment Kristof snaps out of the delusional pain that Elliana’s powers have put him into, he doesn’t end up forgetting about what happened and repeat the same mistake," Madonna said, her words making the dean close his eyes.
So that was how things were? Elliana’s powers rather than hurting the teacher directly, put him into a delusional spell which would make him think that he was going through that pain so that she would have enough things to counter with if someone blamed her.
This kind of thinking... the dean nodded at Madonna to stay here and take care of the situation while he went back to where the battle was going on.
He looked at the girl, who was sitting there on the throne seat unbothered while she looked back at Charlotte, who already made 3 attacks on her but none of them affected Elliana so far.
It was as if Elliana knew he was looking at her, she raised her gaze to meet his, her expression neutral and unapproachable.
"Elliana, don’t act so smug. Attack back," Charlotte said, her anger only firing up as she raised her hand in the air.
The wind inside the battlefield started to fasten its pace, making Charlotte’s fire blades even sharper and stronger.
Charlotte clicked her fingers and the blades attacked Elliana once again. The shield around Elliana cracked with the first blade and Charlotte smirked. This time she was sure Elliana would have to move to counter her attacks. She will ensure this girl’s ego breaks now.
And just like Charlotte had thought, as soon as the shield broke, Elliana raised her hand creating another shield around her.
’What is she doing?’
’Why is she not attacking back?’
’Why is she only defending by creating shields?’
’Honestly, it’s getting boring now,’
’And here we thought that we would get to see a good battle in the semi-finals. It’s just so-so,’
’But it’s strange. Does this girl not know that to score points against Charlotte, she will have to attack, only countering those attacks won’t help her?’
’Maybe she didn’t go through the rules?’
’If that’s the case, she will lose despite her strength,’
Some parents in the audience started to talk.
"Charlotte, don’t lose hope. She won’t be able to win. Give your best and keep attacking," Someone from the crowd shouted.
"Is this allowed?" One of the teachers asked.
"Well, it’s not written in the penalty rules either," the other one said.
"It wasn’t written in the penalty rules because no one has ever dared to do what Elliana is doing. Shouldn’t the dean say something about this?"
"Well, what can we say? It’s not like he isn’t watching what is happening here. If he is choosing to not react, maybe he knows Elliana is planning something else. We can only watch," the teacher that spoke earlier said and everyone sighed as they looked at the battle.
The parents who didn’t know much about magna attacks were all cheering for Charlotte in this battle, but the teachers didn’t say anything or dare to think that Elliana was just sitting there leisurely.
They could see what Elliana was doing. The shield she was using wasn’t a shield that was protecting her from the fire. These blades were not breaking around that shield.
In fact, it was the shield of Magna absorbing. Rather than breaking, those blades were actually being absorbed by that magnetic thick sheet.
The crack in that shield appeared because Charlotte made a strong attack, and it wasn’t because it was going to hurt Elliana, but because the shield took away enough magna it could take.
And probably that was the reason Elliana created another shield as soon as the previous one broke. Elliana was absorbing Charlotte’s energies and powers.
Thus, every time Charlotte was increasing the power of her attacks, she was only giving more of her Magna to Elliana.
"Are you just going to stand there like that? Why are you not attacking me? Do you think I am lesser than you?" Charlotte was starting to lose her cool that Elliana wasn’t doing anything and making it look like she was only fighting this battle for fun while Charlotte was putting her everything into it.
Elliana, who had been just looking at her, finally raised her gaze to the teachers before shifting her gaze back to Charlotte, a smirk appearing on her face.
"I don’t think you are lesser than me. However, I definitely think you are way more stupid than I had guessed," Elliana barely whispered, but it was loud enough for Charlotte to hear.
"You!"
"Tell me when you get tired. I will help you end this battle," Elliana said, raging Charlotte even more.
